As a Rashad fan, I kinda don't wanna see him fight anymore cause it's just so sad when he loses.

Being dominated by another fighter means you are exposed. That doesn't mean you suck. It means lacking aspects of your game were exposed by another athlete. I just don't get why you are micro analyzing every one of my posts for some reason. No disrespect I do enjoy talking with you in MMA threads Levito

Again, I'm not upset in the slightest lol. It's MMA, the only time I get upset is when I find out the UFC still expects me to pay $60 for a PPV in the year 2016.

I think Ferguson has a style that RDA wasn't able to adjust too. Namely when Ferguson was stopping takedowns before they even started, and eating shots like they were nothing. I don't see the other contenders replicating that sort of performance well.

I just enjoy the idea of Tim on a plane to NY with no idea the fight is called off. Would love to see his face when he lands.

Curious what Shad's mystery ailment is. If it's an mri I guess some soft tissue issue maybe with the neck or back.

I don't disagree with any of that analysis but it still showed lacking elements in RDA's game. Namely he really struggled with the volume Tony was put on him, and yeah that TDD was something. RDA is at his best when he can heavily mix strikes and takedowns to keep his opponents toally thrown off and not having to depend on one aspect. His best looks are the Diaz fight and the Pettis fight imo and those were fights where he was able to mix everything up really well. That TDD from Ferguson threw him off but there are other contenders that can do it, we already saw Khabib dominate RDA not all too long ago.

Basically I just favor McGregor in this fight. I don't think its impossible for Eddie to win but I just don't think he will. I expect if he does he will do it through a grinding / cardio style and get either a really late finish in the 4th or 5th or decision him. The only thing that would legitimately shock me would be if Eddie went out there and just striaght KO'd him early.

Dana just posted an Instagram pic of a ripped 195 lb Rashad.

Yeah real shame we won't be seeing him compete. Best shape I have ever seen him before

McGregor in the second by TKO
JJ by Decision
Woodley in the first by TKO

Woodley is a beast - Thompson has eaten some big hits, and he's gonna eat the biggest one of his life on Saturday and get TKO'd. His style of picking people apart has worked well for him, but as we saw with Lawler, Woodley can be extremely patient and his explosiveness will end things in seconds.

McGregor has the ability to knock out Alvarez, and in those first 2 rounds, he's going to go hard. He almost knocked out Nate in their meet up in 202 but Nate isn't human and yet he dropped him 3 times that fight. If you think Alvarez is going to be able to handle those hits better than Nate then I think you're in for a surprise. I think Mcgregors all out style in the first few rounds is unique to him and with his southpaw stance, I think Eddie is going to be in trouble. However, if he lasts longer than 2 rounds, it's all Eddie 100%. That is his game and his style. Only reason McGregor lasted in 202 was due to those early leg kicks and taking out Nates ability to really move around and Alvarez isn't going to be that easy to nullify.

JJ is just an energizer bunny with ridiculously fast combinations. I have a hard time imagining a scenario in which she loses. She plays super smart, always has energy, always moving and trying to control the octagon, and we've seen her overcome strong wrestlers who had the upperhand in the beginning, but by the third and championship rounds fade - whereas JJ acts as if it's still the first round. Unnatural cardio that has been tested and hasn't faltered yet.

Ok so serious question: who's everyone picking between Weidman and Romero? (And why)

Romero has better wrestling but only slightly and I think Weidman will be able to pick him apart standing up. I really want Chris and Luke to bounce back for another fight after the first one was so awesome.

Dude I have no idea on that one. I could see either one of them winning there and frankly I don't feel comfortable enough with either to win to make a for sure pic yet. I actually feel the same way about the Woodley vs Wonderboy fight. On one hand I could see Wonderboy keeping Woodley at range and dominating him, and then I could also see Tyron exploding in and catching him.

There are some close ass matchups on this card

Yeah this is the hardest one to pick for me too. Especially when you consider things like how is Chris going to look after being gone a year and just having neck surgery. Romero is scary af but is he going to be the same with USADA? idk

Evans looking like he wants to catch a suspension like the rest of the cool kids.

EDIT

Beaten like a dog.

I would favor Weidman if it wasn't for this shit:

Nate has much more advanced boxing, particularly head and body movement.

And Eddie has more variety, power, and dramatically better cage-cutting footwork. If Nate can push McGregor up to the cage and dump body shots, Eddie will do it even more easily.

Woodley is vulnerable to chasing with the big punch, which Thompson is an expert at punishing, but Woodley's also very tactical about stuffing kicks to get deep. I think a lot of that fight depends on how much Thompson chooses to lead, and with what.

The problem with this analysis that people make is they don't look at reach advantage. Nate had 2 inch reach advantage over Conor - almost everyone Conor has faced he has had that advantage and he utilizes it possibly better than any other fighter(proof of this is 202, watch how he fights and where he stands - Nate had the advantage and still, Conor utilized it better. Eddie is going in with 69 inches vs Conors 74 inches. This is going to make a very very big difference because of Conors abilities. But like I said, if this goes past round 2, it's going to be the Eddie show.

Gonna be interesting to see how Joanna reacts to a chick that's gonna bang back and has probably just as solid cardio

Weedman vs Solidier of Gawd is the most depressing fight for me. Two of my top 5 fighters out there right now.

I think someone is gonna get starched.

Karolina is going to get smoked really really bad. It could even be worse than Joanna/Penne where Joanna broke Pennes beak.
I think Romero is physically stronger and will push Weidman around. Interesting will be when Romero gasses because this guy wont quit.

It's a great fight. Both are close in terms striking and grappling, though Chris has a definite advantage in submissions. Yoel tends to start hot, so if Chris can survive that, I think he takes it by UD.

Yeah Chris has to be careful as fuck in that first round because Yoel is a monster early.

That said Weidman is also a really fast starter. I could honestly see this ending one way or another in the 1st Rd

Eddie has better footwork and cage cutting ability, but as far as variety goes I think Nate mixes up his boxing with better cadence. Eddie has a tendency to bullrush opponents with flurries of hooks and uppers. Conor will have a slight height and 5 inch reach advantage. I think Eddie will catch a straight counter(s) from Conor.

As far as Woodley/Thompson. It definitely feels like a pick 'em fight. I'm picking Thompson by hurricane kick.

This is how I see it. Unless Eddie can be super fluid in changing levels and keeping Conor guessing.

This card is going to be insane and I'm so happy I happen to have the whole week off so I can watch the entire event without issue.

My picks

Eddie > Conor by SUB, KO or DEC
Woodley > Wonderboy by KO
JJ > KK by DEC
Romero > Weidman by KO
Cerrone > Gastelum by SUB, KO or DEC
Tate > Pennington by SUB or DEC
Stephens > Edgar by KO (I have a feeling about this one)
Johnson > Khabib by KO (and this one)

Saying that Eddie or Nate is a 'better boxer' or 'better striker' than the other based on intangibles is almost so meaningless as to be utterly pointless.

Nate has better head movement, a sharper 1-2 and a strong jab game that really fucked McGregor up in their first fight, and an ability to switch from a long, range-y out-fighter to marching you down and pressing you into the cage for a beating that served him really well for frustrating and shutting down the improvements McGregor had made with is own lead hand in the second fight.

Eddie is far more susceptible to getting hurt, and is very vulnerable to the southpaw left straight and left uppercut, two of McGregor's favourite shots, but he's also tough as fuck and able to fight with his back to the cage like no one else. He also only really presses for the takedown if he can get his opponent's back to the fence, which would be a big mistake by McGregor early in the fight and I don't think it's going to happen. Eddie has excellent footwork based on fighting off the cage, and his ability to cut off the cage is probably better than Conor's ability to control the centre.

There's also a number of intangibles in Eddie's favour, in that he's spent most of his career fighting people bigger than him, with his only loss coming to a fighter at welterweight who basically matched up with him the way 'three times Nate' matches up with Conor in that photoshop.

It's one of McGregor's easier match-ups at 155, and I think a patient Conor could get Eddie out of there in the first two rounds, but if he doesn't, or he gets too eager to press Eddie into the fence with kicks and crack him with the left-hand, he could easily be the one waking up staring at the lights with someone telling him the fight is over.

McGregor's a rightful favourite and if he wins, it'll probably be a quick stoppage, but I think people saying that Eddie's only chance is to grind Conor against the fence are wrong about the matchup.

AS for Khabib, he has a pretty good statistical striking defence stat, but stats are meaningless and he hasn't fought meaningful opposition in so long that I don't think anybody really knows how good Johnson's odds of cracking him hard are.

Normally I would pick weedman to weather the first round storm that is noforgayjesus and win via decision but after the beatdown he received from rocksalt, I'm not sure anymore.

damn wonderboy is such a good role model

usually i hate goody goody guys in ufc but the way he fights is too damn good i aint even mad

New rankings are out. Ferguson is #1 with Khabib behind him. Khabib needs win convincingly if he wants the next shot.

Khabib has to throw Michael into the sun to get a crack before Ferguson now. They were pretty competitive before, though I gave Khabib the edge, but Ferguson just convincingly defeated the former champ and a win over Michael Johnson just isn't enough compared to that.

I'm rooting for Michael but I'm not sure I'd put money on him against Khalib. He's gotta push off the smother and connect.

I've bought the card and am putting on food and booze for a bunch of my mates, I need some underdog wins to cover my costs!

Basically, I think ring rust and that knee reconstruction are tipping the odds in Johnsons favour.

Ah, that is the underdog bet to make then. Although KK at +330 looks good.

I just realized I'll be in Disneyland and probably won't watch the card at all. This is the first card in a while that I was excited about.
