29-28 jardine 28-29 liddell 29-28 jardine

it really should not have been that close, to be honest. :| hard to admit, hard to swallow.

Are you surprised? I posted pictures of Chuck in training.

Edit- I've said it once and I'll say it again, Chuck's striking is overrated.

Chuck sucked. Will he ever change his gameplan?

Shogun sucked. No roids I guess. Wish that wasnt the case. Props to Forest, he looked great.

Good fights overall.

looks like the lack of 'roids killed Shogun's cardio.

2 TUF fighters beating 2 of the best fighters in the world, who would've thought.

great card all around, except the Nok/Machida fight.

Crazy night of fights. MMA has to be one of the most unpredictable sports to bet on. I'm glad I sat this one out, becuase I would have lost every pick!

The depth of the sport is just going to grow as the popularity continues to grow. It's gonna be hard for guys to have insanely good records in the future, but it makes for exciting fights because they can go either way. An interesting night of fights to say the least. I was thinking I would be lucky to go 3-2 with my picks, now I'm laughing all the way to the bank! :lol

I think age has finally caught up to Chuck. He had nothing in those punches that last round. It wasn't like he was gassed .. just a 37 year old brawler.

Randy should be getting decimated in every fight then.

Chuck's age isn't the problem.

you bet Jardine winning that? you bet all upsets i guess, huh? cause every fight was an upset i believe.

Every fight except for Machida was basically an upset, and I went 5 for 5. I've been training MMA for the last 6 months though, so I at least had a little info to go on. I'm off to bed boys, enjoy the mayhem at the sherdog forums.

Randy Couture is a fucking freak of nature. Don't even think anyone can compare to him. He is off the charts.

It's like saying just because Barry Bonds can hit home runs at age 43 ... every other slugger should be able to do the same.

Randy is in peak physical condition though. Chuck has had a beer belly for the last 5 years. That shit catches up to you as you get older.

Because he doesn't take it seriously anymore. He thinks he can just show up and win and that shit isn't going to fly. The UFC has too many good competitors now (Far more than they ever had before).

babalu looks high as fuck. <3 bring 'em back Dana.

now whats gonna happen in the LHW division. Chuck/Shogun both lose... Chuck vs Shogun, Jardine v Griffin rematch, Alexander vs Wandy?

The problem with MMA isn't that the sport hasn't matured(though it hasn't) but that fanboys are rating the fighters. MMA doesn't have anything like RINGS magazine like boxing has only homoerotic mooning on sites like Sherdog and MMAweekly. I mean really what has Shogun really done? Shogun's only credits to fame is having beat Jackson when he was mentally beatdown and had stopped training. He beat Arona after arona had just fought for 15 mins. in a grueling fight with Silva. He beat Overeem but then again Overeem ain't shit. Shogun has never done a thing to be get all the praise he gets.People saw a good looking guy in a good camp and he was getting the pro wrestling style push. Really has Shogun ever done anything to make an unbiased observer think he was great?
As for Liddell he is a sloppy, powerful striker with good takedown defense. That is enough for Coture, ortiz, babalu and other grappelers, but with a good chin and a willingness to engage as Jackson proved twice and Jardine just now he can be handled.

The fights went pretty much how expected, except I thought Chuck would eventually catch Jardine. I posted before the matches that I thought Jardine would give him a tougher time than some people expected. Chuck's win streak came largely against people who would prefer to grapple, and he fights so open with his hands he leaves the chance for the big shot in there. He took it in the 2nd, and recovered in no time in normal chuck (non-rampage hook) style. He just couldn't ever get into a groove. You could tell Jardine's awkward style was giving him fits.

Fitch/Sanchez was a good fight and went as expected in that whomever won top position most was likely to get the win. Despite the loss, I thought Diego showed good poise for being trapped on bottom and some well rounded skills. Both Fitch and Sanchez are really tough young fighters

Man, UFC is just getting stacked with good fighters, called 4/5 out of these main events (thought Sanchez was gonna get lucky again like he did against Riggs on Fitch)

go Jardine and F. Griffin, #5 out of 10,000 for earning totals on that mma playground, if anyone keeps up with it

It wasn't Chuck's cardio. It was all those kicks to the ribs and outer thigh that eventually added up. He had no power in his punches because his legs weren't there. He got tenderized by that right kick, left hook combo like 6x.

Great night of fights. The only disappointing one was Nakamura/Michida. He just looked outclassed. This might be my favorite UFC card ever. So many upsets. This sport is so unpredictable. I say you put any #10 vs #1 in a given division and the underdog stands a chance of winning through either a flash KO or better gameplan/cardio.

I hope we see Jardine/Wandy for a shot at Rampage. Have Chuck fight Houston Alexander. Give Shogun someone like Tito Ortiz or Rashad Evans.

UFC is so stacked @ the Light Heavyweights

Dana White's idea of Pride Fighter's blending in aint going as good as he thought it would be; I feel like he expected all these big name Pride Fighters to dominate more in the UFC, but so far I think the only ones that stick out are Silva and Rampage

If I was Dana White, I'd Definately set up these fights in the next year

LHW:

Rampage vs Forrest Griffin

Lyoto Machida vs Rashad Evans (winner gets title match)
Jardine vs Bisping (winner gets a title match)
Houston Alexander vs Tito Ortiz (if Houston alexander wins, automatic title match)

Liddell vs Wandy Silva (winner gets winner of Hendo and Shogun)
Dan Henderson vs Shogun (winner gets winner of Liddell vs Wandy)

Matt Hamill vs Stephen Bonner (winner fights loser of Griffin vs Rampage)

HW:

Randy Couture; defends his title to whomever

Brandon Vera vs Big Nog (winner gets title match)

Gonzaga vs Kongo (winner gets winner of Arlovski vs Mir)
Frank Mir vs Andrei Arlovski (winner gets winner of Gonzaga vs Kongo)

CroCop vs Tim Sylvia (winner gets loser of Vera vs Big Nog)

I don't like Chuck Lidell but I have to say I was shocked at how badly he lost, and then the audacity of raising his hands at the end :lol

Shogun really disappointed me though. But I'm not completely shocked after seeing this pic in the morning:

I was immediately worried once I saw the developing bitch tits. Even during his warm up jumping in the cage his body seemed out of shape.
However when he was arguably winning the fight and then dropped his arms I was in shock. Time to start some real training and stop getting ridiculous tattoos.

I have to hand it to the UFC guys though - they do their homework.

So what was this bit of business about? Inquiring minds want to know...

There's only one real reason i can think of besides not training at all for Shogun to gas so quickly. I hope that it isnt the reason though.

He wasn't winning anything.

If it wasn't steroids, could it be that Wandy gave Randy a page out of the Chute Box playbook to help Forrest? Some insider CB information for some pointers from Randy on how to beat Chuck?

Tonight was almost as bad as Pride 33. Or maybe it's worse depending on how you look at it. I'm very disappointed in Shogun, he was gassing hard by the 2nd round already. This is the same guy that fought 20 minute wars against Nakamura and Rogerio. I think he'll bounce back even better then before, but tonight is a night he'll won't want to remember.

One of my other favorite fighters was Machida. He fought more aggressively this time and really tried to finish. He took some unnecessary punishment but I applaud him for his efforts. I think he's ready to make a serious run at the title. He's a bad match up almost everybody in this division IMO. I'd like to see him fight Jardine or Griffin next. But preferably Griffin with the winner getting a title shot.
