Came in to point this out. If anything I'm actually impressed with GameCube sales considering it was exclusive to that platform. The remake is available across so many platforms, yet was only able to pull a 29% gain? weird.

You are reading it wrong, it's a 29% gain only on physical copies, and if I recall correctly, more than 50% of sales are digital nowadays. So it actually sold at least 2 if not closer to 3 times the amount of copies the GCN version sold.
