UK Fuel Shortage

We're doing well. Gas prices are sky high and now everyone's buying fuel instead of bog roll & pasta.

Soon we'll all be unable to drive anywhere and be stuck in the house with no heating.

Merry Christmas.

Don't worry though, covering the fuel shortage is Phil McCann... yes, yes that's real.

Last years covid panic buy was hilarious. A ton of companies (like mine) had record sales and profits because so many fearmongered people thought everything is running out. Biggest bonuses ever. It was so big, not only was our normal annual bonus big, but they gave us an extra bonus on top of our normal bonus! lol

And then Q4 2020 comes and now were past the halfway point of 2021 and everything is back to normal for the most part. Some products sill sell high, some low, but blend it together and were kind of back to 2019. So much for running out of stuff on shelf.

And funniest of all, all that panic buying started out with pics virally spread of people hoarding shit at Costco and wholesalers. Those were restaurants and businesses bulking up because they got a business to run and werent sure of price hikes and what supply stores would close down or stay open, so to take precaution they loaded up their inventory rooms with paper towels, toilet paper and other dry supplies like cleaners and plastic utensils etc....

It wasnt everyday joes doing that, but it caught on so everyone jumped onto hoarding like they need 5 years worth of toilet paper.

... and what is the main source of this idiocy? Social media.

Yes you could blame the tabloids, but they've been around for a lot longer and we've not seen this level of sheer fucking stupidity before, or at least not in my lifetime that I can remember.

People at the pumps with multiple jerry cans should have the piss knocked out of them the selfish bastards. I've got 1/3 of a tank left and every petrol station my way is dryer than the Queens queef pocket!

Monday the fuel tankers come to refill the petrol stations my way, so I'll be there bright and early at Shell .

Welp due to all the plebs panic buying most petrol stations near me are dry. I've got 3/4 of tank left lets see if they managed to refill the petrol stations before I run out.

Hype Train conductor. Works harder than it steams.
They have been queing at my local Tesco petrol station for the past two days to get petrol and that station has had 3 deliveries during that time.
It's hilarious, some places are just loving the profit while others are shutting down to prevent panic buying
People are idiots

The stupid thing is, it’s just going to be quieter next week because people have already brimmed their tanks. It’s not like they’ll be back for more.

Fuel isn’t really a commodity that you squander, you just use what you need.

Somewhere there's a couple of Irish lads going door to door with Jerry cans.

I'm not caught up on all the crazy shit you hobbits have been getting up to recently; but didn't you have a whole bunch of business and trade deals with an entire continent? And didn't you just tell that entire continent to take it's cheap trade and go fuck itself? It was a bold move adopting North Korea's economic model, but I reckon there's going to be some cold nights in dingly dell

Finally got fuel when my girlfriend noticed on her journey a few cars were filling up at a local petrol station opened for locals only. Very covert operation as it was coned off with empty written on all the pumps and no queues. Thank God for the country bumpkin code of secresy lol.

Glad that I'm barely using any petrol these days because I'm mostly working from home. Got about half a tank which should hopefully last me until everything calms down.

i never normally need fuel, but now i am under 1/4 tank and have to get to a wedding on Friday. Possible at 45mpg, but risky.

Alternative is taxi, train, tube then bus 🥺 fml

not had much luck finding updates for my area (Winchester). Had a drive around earlier and everywhere was out of diesel.

Social media was a mistake.

We should have just kept to forums and not told the normies.

Create the problem, provide the "solution."

Food and other supply chain goods are next, since they are currently being "disrupted" as we speak.

At this rate the media could say that dog food was in short supply...watch the panic buying of tins of dog food ensue. I wonder if the media is just making shit up to see what populations do, for shits and giggles. As far as I understand it, there's no actual shortage of fuel...but telling people there was/is has actually lead to a shortage. Fuck the media to hell and back.

Wouldn't be a problem if the media hadn't blown the initial story out of all proportion.

What was 10-20 stations out of several hundred being closed by two companies got jumped on by the BBC and reported as main story content with no counter points raised that all other stations, including the supermarkets, were fine. Then the rest of the media seized on the story for drama and a panic was created.

Now the current shortages are due to people over-buying. Demand is well above the normal predicted levels so stock is getting bought up faster than it can be resupplied. It's the bloody toilet paper idiocy all over again.

The BBC and the tabloid media can take the blame for this one. They manufactured a crisis to create a story.

yeah people are idiots but the media keep panic alive and leading news items with 'chaos, queues, shortage, panic' and photos or videos mean they make it worse

this is not news, providing a service, journalism, being honest or responsible, cunts

Got a full tank now as of an hour ago. Queued for 40 minutes, 2 pumps closed during my wait which caused temporary chaos. And of course I saw a fight. Well, a scuffle would be more accurate.

Ask me about my wife's perfect butthole
It's not really going to make anyone extra money unless people also start suddenly driving a lot more.. it's not like the gas is going to use itself.

The panic buying at grocery stores last year included people buying up a ton of food they just haven't bothered to eat as they stocked up on canned shit and shit they didn't want lol.. that was a big profit as people still have pantries and basements full of food they are ignoring and are buying the shit they actually like now.

Meanwhile, if a coal shortage were to ever arrive, or trucks can't move it. Power Plants won't get fuel. The only powerplants that will sustain are Nuclear or Natural Gas.

and thermal, solar, hydro and wind. I think the UK will survive without it's 3 coal power stations.

Idk but maybe brexit was a mistake?

But I guess no one could predict the troubles that would follow... except everybody.

They got the good old UK back. No fuel, no heating and food shortages. Just fire up the coal and pretend it is 1850 again. Everything was great back then.

Would be great when we finally stop using oil to drive around. Hopefully we wont just end up with a similar dependency on countries due to batteries. Changing oil countries for China isn't exactly great.
