Voted conservative. i was surprised at how 'low-tech' the whole thing seemed, just a couple of old geezers in front of some boxes. It was refreshing, in a way.

I wonder how many young Tory voters will change their mind next time. Or maybe the Tories are really different than the last 100 years.
I expect Tories to get in

What is the appropriate image macro for travelling to Scotland?

:lol Yup, that's Sutton!

We should weed out all the Notts Gaffers and go for a pint. A while after the election when everyones votes are forgotten though ;)

I think UKGAF deserves a meetup

Pretty much everywhere in the UK. In some Scottish areas you'll see 3-5 socialist/communist parties on one ballot paper.

None around my way. We've got a record nine candidates on the ballot; the biig three, the Greens, the BNP, a Fight for an Anti-War Government candidate (closest we have to a socialist candidate too) and three independents, at least one of whom is part of the independent alliance on the local council. I've actually found out nothing about one of the independents but if I were to vote my conscience, it would be Roger Nettleship, the anti-war candidate.

I am intending to vote Lib Dem, I really do think tactical voting is the right decision in this landscape but I can't guarantee my conscience will let me get away with it when the ballot's in front of me.

Anyway, I'm going to walk my dog, then think about heading around to the polling station.

GAF am pleased

I'm off to my bed now (almost 10PM here) so I'll leave the fate of my country in the capable hands of her people. Don't fuck it up Britain. Goodnight.

This wait is torturous, knowing that it's no longer in my hands and having to hope that the british electorate doesn't screw up. aaaah.

I need to find something to take my mind of it.

Damn straight, count me in if it ever happens.

And I went Lib-Dem in a Labour stronghold. It can be done!

Well if the country hasn't melted down I guess we all should organise something central to everyone (London :lol)

I will also be voting yellow even though it wont make much difference here.

At least if Lab wins its Graham Allen who is actually a fairly decent MP.

Labour

I was hoping I would see a conservative MP at the polling station so I could drop-kick them in the face for posting leaflets through my door at 04:50 this morning. motherfuckers.

Vernon Coaker for me. To be fair, he's an alright bloke. It did gall me to vote for someone with a residence listed as 'Belgium' when I have Vern up the road. I should have tried to turn him yellow.

Awesome!

I almost vote for the Citizens for Undead Rights and Equality. Not really, but I kind of want to see how many votes they actually do get :lol

Funny, when I went in there was a video screen, and two buttons; "Protest" and "Forget"... then things went a bit woozy...

(Off to vote for real now.)

Did the same in a Tory majority, though I got to vote 3 times thanks to being a proxy. My choices were Tory, BNP, Labour, Ukip, Lib-Dem.

Just out of curiosity, why are GAFs young Tory voters voting conservative?

Just spoke to my nan. She said she closed her eyes, swung the pen around, and crossed at random.

There has been some talk of a London Gaf meet up for a while but nothing concrete ever came of it.

The two most recent attempts cam be found here and here.

Screw them pinkos! I'm in favor of the Citizens for Undead Extermination Group. :D

Actually the really funny thing about British elections is barring the BNP and Communists and parties like that, the entire slate of main three party candidates at best is like picking from the liberal, moderate, or conservative wing of the US Democratic party (and not even the most conservative). :lol

Would people in Britain agree with that assumption?

Anyhow, I support the Conservatives not because of my mostly trollish sounding reasons (which I apologize for antagonizing anyone with), but because I legitimately agree with MOST of their platform and I think their the best for BRITAIN, I really do and not just for reasons to benefit American FP.

I didn't realize that actually had a young base. I always tend to think of this quote about Conservatism and Youth:

If you're not a liberal at twenty you have no heart, if you're not a conservative at forty you have no brain-Winston Churchill

Voted. the Polling station was dead and the Tory candidate was there waiting for voters. Sadly my vote wouldn't have mattered, this area has always been Conservative (It was John Major's constituency).

What constituency are you in? He won Bow last time but isn't running there this time, think he's running in Limehouse.

I suspect there is a very, very, very long line for people wanting to do that.

I meant not including the really minor parties BNP, UKIP, Communists, Zombies, etc., for the purpose of my comparison.

I don't understand what you mean not including? In what?

They have been included, and you can vote for them?

Don't worry about it. As soon as he lets his overlords at the IFE down he'll be 'removed' anyway.

Having said that, if you do take a swing, enjoy it.

I'm guessing Bow may have been unimpressed that he shirked his parliamentary duties to appear on Celebrity Big Brother and pretend to be a cat with Rula Lenska.

Oh, please let Paxman interview him tonight!

I meant in assessing the political spectrum of the 3 major parties in comparison to the US Democratic party. Make sense now?

Well ok I get you now.

The thing is the smaller parties tend to cater to only a few issues.
Ukip = get out of europe
BNP = Deport all immigrants

etc etc

Surely America has parties like that.

Going to vote soon. Really wanted to vote Lib Dem but Crawley is pointless. That said there IS a silver lining - my neighbourhood nearly always votes in a Lib Dem councillor [who is a friend of the family] so I can vote Labour in national and Lib Dem in local.

We really need reform. The next election needs to be fought on STV or AV or something that isn't FPTP. That's the single biggest issue right now, bigger than the deficit.
