Glad to hear you're doing ok Zombiefred :) Sacrificing that year might seem tough and there will be times when you'll probably want to give up but don't. Work hard and soon enough you'll start to see the rewards/benefits. You can count on us for support.

I'm thinking of having a flat-warming party around the beginning of October after I moved all my stuff but I've yet to introduce myself to my neighbours. Does anyone have any funny house party/weird neighbours stories?

I met my neighbors (and best friends here) on a drunk night home. I was walking home drunkenly (as I tend to do) and had bought a pack of cookies from the off license. Stumbled into a couple on the walk home and offered them some cookies.

Got to talking and as we were getting closer to my flat I was like oh where do you guys live? They were like ugh dude were your neighbors! Haha, always a weird story...maybe not though.

Sadly they are moving back to aus in 2 weeks. Gonna miss them.

The stuff that goes on in the teacher's lounge..haha, I had the privilege of delivering the school's news sheets (prefect duties) to the teachers' lounge and for that split second it felt like a completely different world in there. Drinking coffee, laughing, reading the paper, socialising. I always wanted to hear them talk shit about particular students but it never happened.

Oh my, yes. Today I overheard one teacher describing her entire new class as bland, mediocre people. Nobody slags off people as well as poshos.

Welcome back dude! Yeah we missed you too on Saturday.

Early December is exactly what I was thinking. Gonna throw some dates out there, get the ball rolling.

So, London Gaf Meet Up IV.

24th November
1st December
8th December

What dates can people do?

Will post this in the meet up thread as well.

I like Dec 1st since it's very shortly after payday and I will definitely have money then :p the deeper we get into the month, the less disposable income I have.

Maturity, bitches.
When does shit hit the fan in that thread? The first page is all positive.

Thing is a lot of the meltdowns also happened outside of GAF, especially on Twitter. Just skim through it until you see screenshots. Also the first page will be full of people who watched the WiiU stream so chances are they are happy with the news.

Or do you prefer one off post that get someone banned like post 59 here:

Ok so are you saying that 1st is the only date you can do? Cos I'm just going to count up the days everyone says they can do and obviously the highest count will be it.

I might be able to do the 8th yeah, it's just a little less likely than the 1st. But, disasters permitting I should be cool.

History. All four I mentioned are AAB, although Edinburgh offers can fluctuate.

Would love to go, but typically it is a very difficult Uni to get into.

Cardiff is awesome, I went there. I've heard great things about Edinburgh and Newcastle also.

I couldn't imagine someone from England coming up here to study and be perfectly fine with the fact that all the Scottish and anyone from the EU was getting their fee's paid for them. I know it makes no difference because you'll still get charged if you studied in England but I'd be pissed.

If you come to Edinburgh though, it's a lovely city. I study here and I'd probably pick it over Glasgow. So diverse and generally quite nice.

That still must've been a shock when you discovered that your new friends lived really nearby. At least you didn't need to take down an address :) Sucks to hear about them leaving to Aus though. Aren't you heading there next year? or was it HK? At least you'll see them again anyway.

Have fun at oktoberfest and remember to bring some beer back for the rest of us!

Managed to ride past 24 hour McDonalds on the way home from work.

Didn't manage to continue on to the 24 hour gym but, you know, babysteps.

Ha! Probably listed a bunch of places, see how it goes though....

Came to England recently for some family stuff on the 14th, but I wasn't able to really check shit online till now. Anyway, now that business is taking care of, and rather than make a new thread about asking GAF on what cool shit there is to do in London, I thought I'd ask here.

I'm in harrow at the moment and I can kill two days just doing nothing, and I really don't want to just spend it at home. Haven't been here in 4 years or so, so I'm pretty clueless. Anyone got any advice on what I can do in London or something? I'll just be rolling on my lonesome.

Harrow?!? Well in that case ask whoever you are staying with to take you to Regency for dinner one evening. Best Indian restaurant in London and probably in the country. Your friend/family will know where it is, but if not then go to Queensbury Circle, you have to buzz to get in as it is technically a private members club.

Otherwise check out the Shard, southbank and all that guff. If you want to shop head to Westfield, but coming from the US it will seem expensive because of the mighty pound.

When keepin it real goes wrong. Very, very wrong.
My kraft blue box cheesy pasta is here. This will be my first time trying the real kraft cheesy pasta. Not that red box crap they sell in the UK

...but pasta dishes are so easy (and so much tastier) to make from scratch

I don't have half a block of cheddar in my fridge right now to make some homemade mac n cheese.

The English won't understand why us Scottish, Canadians, Americans love kraft cheesy pasta so much.

I like it because it takes like 3 minutes to make. throw some worchester and tabasco in, with a little bit of bacon and BAM you got yourself a meal.

Nah, pasta needs to boil for about 10 minutes, and then you've got to wait on your cheese melting and constantly stirring the sauce so it doesn't curdle. Pain in the arse really.

We have Jamie Oliver in the thread guys

Meh, 10 minutes is nothing, though.

I don't see the problem - all the packet stuff tastes like crap compared to actually making it yourself.

If you're worried about cooking pasta then you're gonna have some real difficulty making a proper meal!

Serious question: Is the blue box from the states any different to the red one we get here? I've been to the states a few times but never had any. The red box tastes like cardboard.

Tastes 100 percent different. Buy it from Amazon asap.

Not everyone has time to cook a 3 course meal when there about to leave the house in a dash.
