As creepy as it can be, at some point animated, drawn, or whatever artificially created porn just has to be ruled as totally legal. It's just lines on a sheet of paper or pixels on a screen, nothing living is actually harmed, no matter how extreme it may look, barring an attempt to pass it off as a real photo, video, or whatever.
Just look at the violence end of that same spectrum. We have PHOTOREAL games of 100% nonstop dismemberment, beheadings, gibbing, etc but few bat an eye because no one is actually being hurt. same with porn.
The arguments that realistic CG can be used to mask real sex trafficking or snuff films or whatever just seem like reaching to me, I gotta think there is a very select and very sick market for that stuff and it doesn't overlap with spicy VNs, game mods, or stuff like that. It just seems silly to have age and relationship disclaimers on that stuff as if it were an actual acting gig with real people. I dunno, maybe I'm only skimming the froth on top and the well goes much much deeper and I'm just naive. I'm sure Rule 34 is worse than I'm aware and some creators just can't limit themselves.

Anyone that still has the game installed in 2024 is guaranteed to be some type of degenerate. Seeing a shortcut on the desktop for Skyrim is all the probable cause you need.

Stupid politicians needing to be seen to be doing something, combined with overly broad and/or vague definitions that have always plagued UK law.
For example: obscenity and indecency. Both of those can be illegal depending on the circumstance, but good luck trying to find a solid definition of either in the law as written.
In terms of the law potentially fallen foul of here: in the 80's (IIRC) there were a bunch of convictions of gay men in the BDSM scene. Those convictions were widely viewed as miscarriages of justice for prosecuting people for completely consensual acts, as well as potentially driven by homophobia. When the new "extreme porn" legislation was up for consultation, the government didn't get the memo about them being miscarriages of justice, and instead used them as an example to show that porn containing such acts should be prosecuted.

What particularly irritates me about stuff like this is that the police continually complain about lack of resources, which may be a valid complaint, but then they waste time on crap like this. Now, someone might say that they have to follow the law and investigate, but they certainly seem to quickly wash their hands of more day to day crimes like burglary, shoplifting, being stalked by a psycho ex, etc.

Man so many headlines posted on GAF that make me think that the UK is just inches away from declaring thought crimes as valid reasons to penalize someone. You brits need to get involved in local government and make that shit stop. Words, art, and videogames leading to real life punishment is a scary precedent.
