Okay, I'll admit to never using it
It just ends after the encounter....you cannot continue the story from there.

Wrong. They are great. And I was really disappointed at the lack of any supernatural twist in this game.
I second this. treasure wasn't even that interesting to me tbh
I agree with all of this. Uncharted 4 was the first game in the series where the treasure hunt was fleshed out in a way that it's basically a story on its own.I actually thought the treasure story in this one was easily the best of the series. It's easily the most fleshed-out backstory of any of the Uncharted games. The other ones pretty much boiled down to one long exposition cutscene towards the beginning that explained the overall "mystery" treasure being sought after, and then it was pretty much all about the current conflict with the villains until the very end when the lost city/treasure or whatever is found and the twist is revealed. It didn't need a supernatural element, it was already compelling enough.
Uncharted 4, on the other hand, is constantly providing new information and intrigue regarding the treasure along the way, and it gets more and more engrossing the closer you get to discovering what happened. I absolutely love the letters/journal entries you found written by people in the past (it's actually a shame these were introduced in the final game of the series). Uncharted 4 easily has the best balance I think between the villain conflict and the background story.
I suppose it helps that I'm always interested in pirate-themed stuff, as well.

Worse than Golden Abyss?Worst final boss fight in the whole franchise..
The franchise's first scene has two liberties already with Drake faking his death and Drake having secret children. It's all just fiction do I really couldn't care less how much this pirate treasure story isn't historically accurate when its following up stuff like Spanish-Nazi zombies. The only reason it's fleshed out is because they conflated Libertatia with Henry Every. As far as I remember Every had nothing to do with Libertatia, assuming you historically believe it existed. Not to mentionThomas Tew is the only relevant person to this and by the time the Gunsway heist happened he died not soon after making the events of the game impossible, but Anne Bonny already makes that impossible to begin with. To be frank they took quite a lot of liberties with this one. More so than any other Uncharted.they stumbled upon Libertatia by accident looking simply for Every's treasure.
Worse than Golden Abyss?
Didn't play that one.Worse than Golden Abyss?

You flick the screen in the direction of the arrow ad nauseum. It's so boooooring.Didn't play that one.
How was it?
I hate QTEs.
Finished the game this afternoon and loved it. I'm going to miss these characters. The nostalgia has already kicked in. .

Just because a story is made up doesn't mean it isn't interesting or good. Since when has Uncharted been historically accurate?
It's never been 100% historically accurate no, but usually it takes liberties where they are available to be taken or where history is muddy and the myth begins. This is different as we actually know when some of the people featured here died, or didn't die. This kills the suspension of disbelief. I brought this up to a friend and he cited ACIV, but that is simply the Gump effect and is different. It doesn't involve shifting dates and purposes and people.
Spaniard zombies, roided aborigines, and cursed water are much harder to believe than switching a few dates on pirate deaths. It's never been 100% historically accurate no, but usually it takes liberties where they are available to be taken or where history is muddy and the myth begins. Anne Bonny was born in 1700.The entire premise of the first game is that Francis Drake faked his death tho. This is no different.
The rest is made up from the begin with.Spaniard zombies, roided aborigines, and cursed water are much harder to believe than switching a few dates on pirate deaths.

Anne Bonny was born in 1700.
Every and Tew were already dead then and Libertalia already founded.
The rest is made up from the begin with.
The dates are fact.

It's not.Wasn't the whole idea of Uncharted 1 was that we know when Francis Drake died but Uncharted played with this? This is the same thing.
Here they want us to believe Anne Bonny for example was born 20 years earlier.
Ok, wait a second....
Do we actually have people here debating the "historical accuracy" of the Uncharted series?
Are you guys for real, or are you just joking around?
Sure, no problem. I can accept that. Is that such a big deal?
Who cares how many liberties they took with the story? Any accuracy the previous games had were just icing on the cake. The games were never meant to be historically accurate, the forth just deviated a lot more.
Avery's treasure is just a base for the actual story anyway.

Most people peg Tew as being dead in 1695 which is when the Gunsboat heist occurs and while Every does live past that, Tew isn't there to help found Libertatia and Anne Bonny absolutely isn't present and neither is Christopher Condent. No one really knows when Avery or Tew died though.
I'm for real. Mostly because it's never been this ridiculous. They always played around with non-factual stuff in the other titles where there was leeway but in UC4 the plot is legitimately not actualy possible the way they have it.
That's part of the problem. It was fine with just that. It would've been fine with just that, but they had to throw in mystery and that alone wasn't enough and that's where historically it went down hill bringing in Libertatia out of nowhere. Hell given the marketing for the game I was asking myself where is Libertatia and then it pops up and I'm slightly disgusted with how.

Unfortunately this game made me feel like I wasted $40, because the amazing storytelling experience was worth about the cost of a movie ticket + a $5 tip for ND being the best at pulling heart strings.
I sincerely believe that TR2013 did the "game" part way better. Upgrades, more combat, more exploring. Cannot wait for RoTR PS4, BRING IT ON.
No word on the option to watch cut-scenes, anybody?
Arne, you there?
Dude, it's Uncharted for fuck's sake. I mean, cursed zombies? Smurfs guardians? Whether one game takes more liberties than others is pretty irrevelant considering what the games are going for.
I'm honestly a bit perplexed that we're actually having this conversation.
Pre-order cancelled.
Honestly though, that doesn't seem like such a big deal.
You mean skip them? Yes, you can. Option to not watch? No there isn't.

I mean the option to watch. I know it's missing, just want to know if ND has acknowledged it, and/or if it's going to be added.
It's been an option on all their games since Drake's Fortune.

Good grief, we're talking about historical accuracy in Uncharted now? This reminds me of people who argued that God Of War doesn't do Greek mythology justice because it makes shit up. The level of nitpick some people on GAF will do is ridiculous.
I think this was a lot easier for them to do when the cutscenes were just video files. Now they're rendered in realtime.
I haven't heard anything either way.
The made up stuff is all fine. Because it is just made up.
You can do what ever you want with it.
But when you change facts, it is something different.
So? How exactly does it hinder the experience if facts were altered to fit the story? Does it bother you that Abraham Lincoln was depicted as a vampire hunter in a movie? The made up stuff is all fine. Because it is just made up.
You can do what ever you want with it.
