Got this feeling this is going to be suuuch a shit-show in terms of review scores and embarrassing reactions. Either way, there will be entertainment for all. I can't wait to finally play this baby though, finally!

Really looking forward to the Easy Allies review, Jim Sterling's too. Hyped as hell, this comes out the same day I'm going for a fancy dinner.

Fun fact - embargo lifts up, but you cannot post ingame screenshots in the article ;) only official ones... At least that's the word circling around ;) screenshot embargo ends few days after.

I think this is going to score the same as Metal Gear 5. A 93. The story is not as good as Last Of Us and the gameplay isn't quite Metal Gear. Also, in certain chapters there seems to be a bit of padding in the game that effects the pacing.

I don't get it, you are taking a random category of a game X that is better than U4 and calculating the score based on it?

OK so MGS5's gameplay has much more freedom and more advanced stealth, but MGS5 has tons of problems that U4 doesn't, bad pacing, lame open world, shit story, almost looking a gen behind U4, not having amazing set pieces like in U4 etc.

So, because it has some better mechanics it's making up for all the things U4 do have and MGS5 not?

TLoU is almost perfect so here it's trickier but if U4's combat is better, and the game is much more open with more meaningful exploration, and the story is also great (even if not on TLoU's levels, but how many stories in videogames do reach such level?) than it might make up in its own way for not having a better story than TLoU (odd comparison in the first place as theme is completely different)

What I'm saying is that the overall package counts, if the overall package top other games in the genre than it will review greatly, if not than not.

avoiding spoilers on professional reviews ? ok, they can even put a rules like, take only screens from Act 1 or this part or whatever...

what's the point to this embargo when It'll be allowed few days later when the game won't be out at this time either ?

I fear that this will get low 80s to high 70s. Just cause I feel like reviews have been a tad harsher this gen... But I feel like if my expectations are low, than it will surpass it.

I have a feeling this is going to be one of the best scoring games of the generation. I'm going to say first week Metacritic average of 95.

It just looks so great and all the impressions so far have been incredibly positive. I am bias though as a big uncharted fan. Got next week off, so I'll devote a few days to getting through the campaign.

Yeah expecting the same here. Expect insane scores for this. Maybe even 96-97 :O

Can't post any video, screens, or mention a lot of stuff in reviews. We can share footage & start streaming early next week.

Because the second embargo is based on the global launch time.

What about video reviews then? It can also only use footage Sony/ND released beforehand?

Official review assets will be provided. Capturing footage for video reviews is prohibited. Video reviews can wait until early next week and then use their own footage, of course.

If that's true, it's fucking stupid but whatever...

Terrible terrible comment, this is why we can't have nice things.

You should embrace this review model so you know way before the games comes out how good or bad they are and you can judge it and make your decisions without having to be spoiled.

For anyone curious Lucy O'Brien is reviewing it for IGN and Mike Mahardy (not 100% sure he is though) for GameSpot.

High 80s at least.

And if that happens the meltdowns will be legendary.

He begins...

That's exactly where I stopped watching.

Hi JP.

I'm the person responsible (for my sins).

The pic is well-deserved! I just wanted to say that whilst writing the review I put all sorts of stream of consciousness stuff on paper. But in the rush between work and trying to complete it I needed to do a final edit to fix up the intro and outdo -which I didn't. Next time I will make the time!

Anything under a 91-92 will cause meltdowns. They'd have to majorly fuck something up for that to happen though.

Anything below a 93 will draw a lot of egregious comparisons with Metal Gear Solid V. "How could they score that turd of a game higher than Uncharted 4?!"

The writing in UC2 is one of the main reasons that game is a joy. Reminds me of Raiders of the Lost Ark (or a good episode of Tintin): entertaining, charming adventure anchored by likable characters (also the best entries in their franchises). Great relationships (Flynn, Elena/Chloe love triangle) and great quips/banter.

"Face it genius you've been played"- Drake in his cell always gets me. The ending is great too! You sure you didn't smile as the credits rolled? lol jk

That said I'm hoping UC4 tops it in the story department. From the trailers and demos it looks like they've struck a great balance between fun adventure with some emotional weight. I hope!

I don't hate it or find it worse than average AAA game writing or anything like that. Sure there were lines that made me smile a bit. Just found it a bit stilted overall, and, despite voice acting, never really got attached to the characters (maybe it would've helped if I'd played 1?).

I like Indiana Jones as much as any red-blooded American boy growing up in the 1980s, but U2 really didn't reach that level of script/characterization I didn't think.

true - this is exactly what will happen if it score lower than MGS V lol. Then a flood of Quiet gifs

No matter what this review thread is going to be one for the ages XD

There's going to be one site/critic who gives it an 8 and it'll just get eviscerated.

maybe years ago, but I don't think it's going to happen today. People have been referencing the UC3 review thread all week. Unless juniors come in that are completely not self-aware, I don't expect any outrage to match that UC3 thread.

I don't have a PS4 (or PS3) but I'm kinda interested to see what this scores with reviewers being harsher and all this gen, no doubt it's going to be one of the highest games this gen but I think 95+ is near impossible these days outside of (probably) Rockstar games.

My prediction is a 92.. The same as Bloodborne/Witcher 3.

I'm not sure if the reviews will be as perfect/glowing as I thought anymore. I've been playing for about 6 hours and I'm sure it gets much better, but what I've played so far is just good, but not mindblowing (well except the graphics are mindblowing). It takes a while longer to get to the "meat" of Uncharted gameplay, unlike U2, which has break-neck pacing from the first 5 minutes, and I think this may influence some reviewers.
so basically what you're saying is that Uc4's pacing is not as good as Uc2's.

I admit, this is what I personally expect from it, enjoyable but familiar.

the breakneck pacing of UC2, where the first hour of the game is about sneaking into a museum, and the second is "My First Uncharted Adventure" with Sully.
