I think its easier to describe if you are able to visualize the game a bit:
jbazbksMzUbpJM.png

Dont be afraid of all the numbers and stats. Its really not that difficult once you played for 10 minutes (I call it.. the FTL effect). The game has only 4 phases, and you only need to do 1 thing in each, keeping it rather simplistic:

1st phase: Play a faction card(Hero, Villain, Merc) onto the playing field
2nd phase: Equip a faction card with a fortune card or decide to instantly get 5 resource
3rd phase: Use your accumulated resources to equip your faction cards with an item/resource card
4th phase: Your cards will attack the opposing cards (automatic)

Goal of the game is to play faction cards, equip them properly and get them to attack the opponents HP until the opponent has no HP left, but I'll explain that a bit more in depth soon. First of a quick explanation of the simple card layout:
q8wi8.jpg

There are different card types, but all share the value layout, making it easily decipherable:
Red: Attack value always in the upper left corner
Green: Health/Defense value always in the upper right corner
Blue: Requirement value, always top middle of the card, states the amount needed to play the card
Yellow: Fortune amount

Now onto the game itself, the screen is divided into 4 parts, from left to right:

Faction Cards (Heroes, Villains, Mercs)
These are your main asset. You can think of them as the cards that will actively fight out the battle for you. Every round you can choose one of these to put on the field and each of those cards has a different requirement value, which needs to be paid for from the amount shown on top of the row. Every round the pool of these faction points increases, and if you dont use up faction points, you'll be able to get a stronger card later on.

Playing Field (where you put down cards)
Faction cards will be put on those empty spots so that you are able to attack your opponent. Once a faction card has been put onto the playing field, it can be equipped with Fortune Cards and Resource/Item cards.

Fortune Cards
These cards are needed to produce resources to use resource cards. Every fortune card has a fortune value and you can either "gamble" to get the complete fortune value OR you "bank" the card immediately for 5 resources to your resource pool. The Fortune "gambling" basically works like this: You equip a faction card with a fortune card and as soon as your card defeats an opponents card, you'll get the amount of fortune on your AND the enemies card directly into your resource pool. This of course also means that every fortune card on your card can be "stolen" by your opponent if they defeat your card as well, making this a rather intricate risk/reward decision.
There is an exception to that as some cards have the ability to instantly "bank" the full value of a fortune card, which is another possibility to get the very important resources.

Resource Cards
In the final active step of your turn phase, you can then use your accumulated resources to "buy" an item/resource card and equip a faction card with it, usually raising the attack or defense value.

After you went through all the card steps, the game will then automatically switch to the attack phase and will carry out the fights. Every one of your cards that is longer than 1 round on the playing field, will attack the opposing card and if there is no opposing card, it will directly attack the HP of the opponent. The opponent wont attack your cards in your turn and vice versa.

This is basically the base knowledge to play the game. Although rather simple initially there are some strategic elements to it like the combo feature or swapping certain faction cards instead of only using empty spaces.

Last but not least, the buying recommendation guide:

I posted the MP features in the Info box up above, but I feel this game has one major caveat which I feel can be adressed easily by a sensible community. The problem is that, while its still possible to win with non-Uncharted:Golden Abyss powered up cards to win against a player who has all the upgraded cards, its not exactly fair. Due to that, I came up with this solution:

Instead of randomly adding everyone, we'll play in tiers (sort of like boxing) and for now, I'll update this post with people playing in different tiers. You are always welcome to invite/challenge a player from the same or higher tier, but please refrain from inviting someone below your own tier.

Player list:
Code:

[I]Only players that dont have Uncharted: Golden Abyss[/I]

kassatsu - PSN ID: kassatsu
Absoludacrous - PSN ID: Absoludacrous
Fox1304 - PSN ID: Fox1304

[B]Players Tier B: Silver[/B]
[I]Players that go through UC:GA soon, are in the middle of doing so, or already finished
the main game but did not much trophy/treasure hunting and dont plan on doing so
 anytime soon.[/I]

bradigor - PSN ID: bradigor1981

[B]Players Tier C: Gold[/B]
[I]Players that finished the game once with quite a bit of treasure/trophy hunting and
players planning on 100%ing the game soon (or already 100% the game)[/I]

Corto - PSN ID: corto1976
Number45 - PSN ID: Number45
SuperDowns - PSN ID: GirlGotGuyParts
GillatheGorilla - PSN ID: Jemile

If you want to be added to the player list, state the level you are in AND whether you are fine with directly posting your PSN ID (then post it) or whether you want it only be visible for GAF to see. Example "Please add me to the player list! Bronze player here, PSN ID only for GAF: XYZ". If you dont add that info, I'll put it GAF private.
Please also make sure to add a note (why you add someone) to the message if you add someone. Common courtesy.

Played a bit, but I didn't understand how bank works for cards without banking ability. If my faction card with a fortune got damaged without dying, I win the fortune?

You get the fortune if your card defeats an opposing card. If your card has no "opponent", you can put a new fortune card on it for every new rounds, but you wont get the fortune as ressource unless your card defeats an opponents card.

I'm C.

But anyway, game's nice but too simple. Needed a more varied combat system, personally.

Yes, and no.

If your faction/creature card destroys the other opposing faction/creature card, you win your fortune/bank investment along with theirs if they had a fortune/bank card attached to the creature card you were attacking.

Otherwise, vice-versa happens. If you attack the planeswalker/enemy character directly because of no opposition, you don't bank the fortune card (IIRC)

Also there's some new GA card/treasures that I didn't see in the GA patch. WTF?

I got some cards playing GA again and I don't think thats is related only to trophies in GA

Thanks! And abusing a little bit, but how combo works? I got a combo with Roman, Drake and Navarro (or Jaja, I don't remember), but only Roman got +3. The bonus is only applied in the first card? And is +3 fortune for all fortune cards in Roman or for each one?

I just finished U:GA and removed it from my Vita, would this game see any of that unlocked stuff?

I think some card give mutual bonusses while others only give bonusses one sided. You can check that by "holding" a faction card, so that other faction cards that work in a combo "wiggle". Above the wiggling card, you can see the bonus it will give.
Good question about the +3 fortune bonus though, as I havent used them yet, but I'll look into that later.

Still got the savegame on the Vita? I dont think it will access your cloud saves. You only need to have the savegame on the Vita ONCE though, so after Uncarded integrated your savefile, you can kick Uncharted off your memory card again.

Yeah, I notice the wiggle effect, but some cards that I can make a combo are shown in green and others in red. But I think its related to the faction color.

Which would I benefit more from playing first? I just got Golden Abyss and I want the card game but not sure which would be better to play through first.

If you play U:GA once, Uncarded should be a bit easier. Once you finished Uncharted once, ranked Uncarded MP matches should be rather fair as well.

I dont really see Uncarded as a game to "finish" though, its an asynchronous MP game that I'll keep playing for a good while I think. I'll dabble along the SP in Uncarded, sticking to GAF tier matches while trying to finish Uncharted at the same time.

I'm in! Just add me PSN ID: corto1976

Portuguese store still hasn't the U2 and U3 expansion pack available though... Need to find who is our Grace Chen equivalent so I can damn him/her.

I just finished U:GA and removed it from my Vita, would this game see any of that unlocked stuff?

If it's the retail/physical version I'm not sure if the save file is on the bubble or in the cart itself. If it's the downloadable you have to download and install the whole game and then the save file from the Cloud so that Uncarded recognizes the save file and import it.

It sounds like you can queue for matches while playing GA, would I want to unlock some cards in Uncarded then play Uncharted queuing while I play?

Also should I focus on getting all the treasures to boost my cards?

I dont quite understand your first question, but yes you can play both games at the same time.

And if you want to be somewhat competitive in the ranked matches, you should carefully go through the main campaign of Uncharted once. The more you find/unlock the better your cards in Uncarded get though, so feel free to find everything in Uncharted.

Imo sony wasted a great opportunity, it should have been like zen pinball, a basic game + themed decks from various sony games, almost like a tcg version of playstation all star battle royale.

Then people would complain even MORE about how the game is unfitting and random. I agree though, that I had the same thought as well. After playing it for a bit, I am actually surprised that it comes together as well as it does, though.

Besides, mixing it with other genres would make some elements not work that well, like the UC integration. You cant integrate every gamesave of all possible games into the game. I think they did a nice job with doing a card game based on a certain franchise.

I'm playing GA currently and am actually kinda annoyed by the constant card pop-up's. To the point where I almost want to play this game because I-don't-even-know-why-because-it-does't-make-any-sense.
I think I'll wait for more impressions, though.

You put this OT together WAY too fast for it being this high quality, just saying.

Will get, according to your handy chart I:

Like Cardgames and am ambivalent toward Uncharted so I should like it.

Maxwood

Oh rock of ages, do not crumble, love is breathing still. Oh lady moon shine down, a little people magic if you will.
Great OT :)

I'm having more fun with this game then I ever thought I would. i'm no cardgame fan but this, I like!
Tier B here, i'm busy playing Golden Abyss :p

Well, I'll be gold (I have the platinum, not sure if that means I have all of the upgrades possible). :(

PSN: Number45

Not sure I understand the private/public thing.

You can either decide to having your PSN ID open in the first post so that even lurkers might add you or not.

And yeah, platinum the game puts you into gold and you should have all the upgrades.

I'm happy for it to be public. Hopefully people have the sense to mention GAF when adding. :)

How long is a match expected to take if it's played in one hit? Also, is the ranked also asynchronous?

15-20 minutes?

Yes, but there is an option to allow you to stay in the match. If you are playing with someone planning to play the match right NOW, you wont need to wait too long.

Is it possible to identify that, outside of a PSN message? I can imagine people getting frustrated with me if they're expecting quick responses! :p

I think the opposite, people complain about this because it's an "uncharted" card game, if it was a "sony" card game with an uncharted expansion set no one would complain too much(no one complains about a ninja gaiden table in zen pinball right?).

Eh, no one should "expect" it. They'll just notice if the opponent answers as fast as they do.

Someone actually did in the Uncarded whining announcement thread.

And as I haven't done so yet, great OT Toma. Really great work! ;)

Ah fuck it, after the Tokyo Jungle sale I needed another excuse to buy a 20€ PSN anyway, so this game might as well be it.

Good job, Toma. Really useful. I love Uncharted, despite having no idea about card games I'm tempted to get this.
