Uncharted Legacy of Thieves New Update Appears to Include VRR Support

Thats really only useful for the 120hz mode right? I think the 30 and 60 modes are locked although perhaps the 60 mode drops during extreme scenes. Now this exists they should allow you to run the 60 mode in a higher res and let VRR handle the drops, the 60 mode is blurry as fuck compared to the 30 mode so I didn't bother with it. I already played the game at 1440p on the PS4 Pro, 60 in Uncharted isn't as important to me because everything is made to look best at 30, ends up looking like Benny Hill in-game and cutscenes look objectively worse imo, because they're "shot" as if its action where 60 would look "bad" compared to 24/30.

would like to see how 4k uncapped mode works now

Oh ofc, I'm being a dummy, you uncap all modes and get a higher framerate at the same res, doh! I think maybe the only issue could be if the 30 mode doesn't run too much above 30 most of the time (probably does, but just in case) then the added input lag might make it feel worse to play even if it looks a bit smoother.

Literally just finished my PS5 run through the other day, agreed 1000%, even though I've already played through the game on base PS4 and twice on PS4 Pro I still found myself just looking at the backgrounds for minutes before moving on.

I find it better then TLOU part 1 due to the fantastic art

It looks extremely fluid at 30 fps as well

Its an unpopular opinion it seems, but I agree. I have watched the first 4 hours of TLOU: Remastered and I found it really boring for the most part. I plan to try out TLOU: Part 1 when it drops in price though.

I think they need to patch the 40fps mode in. Surprised they haven't already.
It's there now. I tested it an hour or so ago.
The only mode that has not changed is the Perf+
Performance mode now can have 60+ fps with VRR
Fidelity mode is 40+ apparently (don't have a counter but it certainly was above 30 in fidelity mode)

I hope they get The Last of Us Part II a proper PS5 version as well.

Yeah I just tried it and it's gotta be pushing 60fps unlocked. Even better than ratchet and Spider-Man at 4k
It felt about the same as those games to me, which is to say it's still a nice improvement. It's in the 40-50 fps range for sure. In the one firefight scene my saved game loaded up to (UC4), It definitely felt noticeably different to the locked 60fps performance mode.

In the same scene, the performance mode was pushing 90-100fps for comparison.

Possibly. I'm coming off of TLOU Remake whose unlocked fidelity mode was just awful so maybe it's recency bias.

Oh wow. That's great will check it out.

I have a 120hz display but no VRR support

So all I have is the 30hz option. Bummer.
Yeah, all these fidelity modes with unlocked frame rates are making me want a VRR TV. Ghostwire Tokyo is making me hard to resist. I'm absolutely loving that game and would love to experience it in unlocked VRR modes.

This looks and feels really f***ing good! It's gotta be at 4k50ish avg. I find it impossible for Uncharted 5 to not push near-photorealism based on what they accomplished here.

Anyone else find it weird that ND didn't officially announce the VRR patch? i feel like it's important enough for a tweet at least.

Wait, why is the game telling me that my tv isn't supporting 120Hz and VRR if it does (Sony A90J) - I can't use VRR with the 120Hz mode, something has to bo wrong here... Works in other games.

I literally didn't discover this till today

I really hope the PC version out next month pushes the visuals past the console version. If 4k/50 is what the ps5 can do, the pc version could be much higher detail.
