Underrated Videogame soundtracks?

What game do you think has an underrated soundtrack? I know several, but I pick Cybernator for snes (Assualt Suits Valken). Noone is certainly talking about that one when you mention great snes soundtracks.

I made a sample mp3 with mixed snippets of cybernator songs for you to listen on.

Let's hear some interesting choices.

Dragon Warrior VII....of course that might just be because so few people played it, but it was beautifully constructed. Sugiyama knows what he's doing.

Going to go back to Genesis Land here.

Shinobi III: because Revenge of Shinobi gets all of the hype for having a Yuzo Koshiro soundtrack, people tend to forget that Shinobi III's tunes were still excellent, irregardless off the fact that Yuzo didn't do them. It's even better sometimes.

Streets of Rage 3: I'll admit, it's not as awesome as some of the tracks in SOR1 and 2, but it's still cool. Very beat heavy, and it could have benefited from stronger sound hardware. Oh well.

I wouldn't exactly call Halo's soundtrack underrated.

it still deserves more praise :D
I'm still waiting for an orchestal version of "rock anthem for saving the world" or "brothers in arms"

(by soundtrack I mean music in-game)

Almost every PC game out there.

Deus Ex, Ravenloft: Stone Prophet, Baldur's Gate series, Diablo, Kult: Heretic Kingdoms, Summoner etc.

I could go on and on forever.

Anything composed by Sakuraba is gonna be loved aplenty. Definitely not an underrated soundtrack there.

I'd pick Simcity 4 + Rush Hour. The music is more atmospheric than catchy, and people don't expect Simcity to have good music. Thus, it is ignored. But it's really awesome, and is one of the few soundtracks I still return to after first hearing it.

World of Warcraft
Advance Wars DS (well, not rated at all at the moment, but it's kick ass)

Thunder Force II

People with horrible taste always mention TFIII as having a better soundtrack. They are wrong and dumb.

Oh... and

Tetris Attack

Like a fuckin' OPERA.

The game in general is just horribly underrated, but I'm gonna go with Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter. One of the very best soundtracks of the past five years, I'd say.

Earthbound. Us Earthbound fans are committed, but there's not nearly enough of us.

Ding ding ding. Winner.

More games need that bluesy, funk and soul influence that we see ever so rarely. (Other examples: Space Channel 5 and JSR.)

Conker: live and reloaded actually has a kick ass soundtrack to me and no one brought it up yet.

lol @ world of warcraft sound track being "kick ass"

that was the first thing i turned off when i started playing that game, and turned on my winamp.

maybe i should unmute it and check it out.

You're missing out.

Most under-rated? Illusion of Gaia.

I second Unreal Tournament and Deus Ex. Maybe I have a thing for the mod format.

Katamari Damacy

No way. Everybody loves it.

Castlevania X68000 - PSX version...awesome remixes. 100% Sota Fujimori

What else has he done? I like the music he's been making for beatmania IIDX recently.

I agree with Earthbound as well as Ace Combat 4. They both have great soundtracks, even though Earthbound's music fits my tastes a little better. Earthbound had a very original soundtrack. Ace Combat 5 has a great soundtrack as well.

Until the revolution comes out that is :D I plan on making that my first purchase as I've heard nothing but praise about this rare gem

WTF? The music is one of the most loved and talked about aspects of it.

I'd have to go with.. Mischief Makers, maybe Ape Escape 2... Crash Twinsanity's soundtrack = fucking awesome. I think you can download it on GameSpot, it's great. Completely different than the old games. Great final stage/boss themes.

If you can't find it on GameSpot, IM me on AIM (frickin vgm) and you can download it from me (I have a huge game music get file).

Oh.. And the original Sonic series are a bit underrated too. I know we all love them, but Sega ignores them. We got a Rockman 1~6 OST (still no 7 & 8 though), X1~6, etc. but Sega has yet to put out a damn soundtrack with Sonic 1-3, both 3D Blasts, etc (at LEAST the original games though).

/rant

Fable

The bowerstone and oakvale themes alone make me want to play through the game again. And maybe I will.. ONCE I GET A SPARE HALF HOUR! BECAUSE THE GAME IS SO SHORT AHAHAHA

Baroque (ambient industrial from Iwata, like Vangelis' Blade Runner score)
Elemental Gearbolt (the best "epic" orchestral soundtrack I have, bar none)
Castlevania 64 (the game sucked, but the soundtrack is excellent)
Lament of Innocence (like C64, not underrated so much as ignored)
PSO III C.A.R.D. Revolution (yes please)
Einhander (people like this, but it's still underrated because it's the BEST ORIGINAL TECHNO SOUNDTRACK IN A GAME EVER)
Breath of Fire V, like the game itself, also deserves more more love.

Prince of Persia: Warrior Within ;)

But seriously, Planescape: Torment, Mafia, The Longest Journey, Rome: Total War, and the Hitman 2 had some pretty good soundtracks.

Astynax/Lord of King(NES)
Skeleton Warriors (Playstation)
Loaded (Playstation) (well, at least the insane asylum level...btw, anyone got an mp3 of that?)
Super Scope 6(SNES)
Street Fighter EX+Alpha(Playstation)

Underrated only in the sense that a lot of people haven't played it: Beyond Good and Evil.

I love how it's muffled while you're walking around outside the building
