A Republican strategist on NBC (not MSNBC) was basically saying the same thing, or at least saying the problem wasn't being conservative enough. I think there will be enough level-headed conservatives willing to say the obvious, but whether that makes any difference to the Tea Partiers and the radical right that actually control the primary process is anyone's guess.

However, losing the popular vote while winning the electoral vote makes voters feel disenfranchised, in a way, and gives the losing party something to bitch about.

Winning both is just, if you will, salt in the wound.
