According to CNN, voters identified (but not necessarily voted) as 37% Democratic, 34% Republican and 29% Independent.

I had no idea that the number of Independents were that high.
I believe it was an NPR segment recently that discussed how research found most independent voters only vote for one party, so it's really much smaller than 29%.

i've been begging for over 5 years.
Links to live streams please? What is Poli-GAF watching?

TV is in the other room and I don't have my portable chromebook yet.

Was there a good reason to legalize alcohol?

In my view not really. I'm not expert but from what I understand alcohol isn't a carcinogenic whereas marijuana is. I still wouldn't go as far as to say responsible alcohol use doesn't have a net negative effect on your health. It would be nice if people weren't morons and could be trusted to be responsible in their choices but they aren't. And when half of my provincial tax dollars go to health care what other people do with their bodies does become my business. But then again I don't even use antiperspirant anymore since I'm paranoid about how absorbing aluminum through the skin day in and day out can effect me down the road.

538 was also right about the Republican-dominated 2010 elections. Funny how people seem to ignore this when arguing against 538.

Why anyone argues against poll aggregation in the first place blows my mind. I guess they don't like the results? Jealous that a 34 year old savant has developed the best algorithm in the game?

If Germany would vote:

must... resist... godwinning...

Not surprising at all.

Anyone who has been following the situation in South Florida knew this would happen.

It's why Romney will win the state.

Eh.. It can happen. Don't give up yet. Silver has it very lightly blue and so does pollster.com so we don't know... add to the fact that people are very angry about the vote suppression and I think we can end up slightly ahead.. and if we don't, we can always take solace in the fact that Obama will win the election.

A lot of folks register as Independent who really aren't. I did it to in the weird belief it'd help me avoid jury duty. Some do it cause they want to feel special.

No wonder they fired Michael Steel. He's suggesting you have to appeal to more than just white males.

Ordering Red Chicken Curry, #3 spice with Steamed Veggies

Washing it down with Capt/Coke, and have some Sam Adams Winter Lager. Ready to settle in for the long haul tonight.

Write this down and save it, so that in 2016 you can either eat or not eat it to guarantee a win for someone.

Honestly I'm a little surprised that this thread is only at 4640 posts.

I figured there would be an OT 2 before we even knew a winner.

PS some would argue that it isn't the government's decision to stop people putting the wrong things in their body when they're aware of the negative impact it could have.

Obama got this. The networks are spinning this as closer than it really is in order to drum up viewers. The number of states Romney has to win is insurmountable. We already won! PEACE.

Hilarious that NYT actually charts those 28 to 14 Obama Romney numbers

To be fair, voters within a country are simply going to hold the President to account for things like high unemployment that people from other countries wouldn't. But it's also unfortunate that many Americans can't see Obama's virtues in a way that other countries can.

I find it strange that some folks keep talking about the declining influence of the US on the rest of the world. Watching the election coverage in Canada, UK, Europe and elsewhere seems to contradict that. EVERYONE is covering it.

So what's everybody watching? I usually just stick with CNN (and channel surf through the local stations....except for FOX, lol)
