UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson assassinated

Yeah Osama Bin Laden shouldn't have been murdered either right? Can't justify killing someone who is continuously killing people...
Not quite the same thing and you know that. But I'm not wasting any more time on this.

I figured this would be a manhunt thread. Instead it's a bunch of comrades crying about the same old shit while they justify cheering murder. Lame as fuck.

Obviously I don’t condone this, but my sympathy card is out of network with this one. Our healthcare system is a really bad joke and people are fed up. I can’t imagine having someone you love become very sick, they’re fully covered with insurance, but are denied by some soulless shitbag because of a loophole. I’d lose my fucking mind if that happened to my boy. So it’s surprising to me something like this hasn’t happened sooner.

You would, but thats why we have laws and courts. We dont let fathers kill their daughter's rapists. We dont let fathers kill their children's murderers. We cannot let people do this in a civilized society.

Now if these guys are being allowed to get away with this then you can always go to the government and if they dont do what's needed, you can always vote in someone who would change these laws. You can also sue. Or go to the press. Apparently the Department of Justice was already investigating these guys so at least the govt was doing its job this time around.

I was showing spotlight to my dad the other day, and it's mind boggling how 6% of all priests were known to be pedos. In Boston alone that mean 90 of the 1,500 priests were pedos. They abused thousands of kids for decades before the press caught on. Whats worse is that the arch bishop in Boston knew. everyone who moved them to different parishes knew. Now should those thousands of kids or their fathers go and shoot up churches? Of course not. We all love our kids but we cant go all Samuel Jackson on these people.

It's always the "be kind" crowd who celebrates the deaths of others. Funny, isn't it. They didn't know who this dude was until yesterday, but they know he sucks and deserves to die. Truly, the dumbest people our society has to offer.

Anyway, committing murder on a public street in NYC is about as dumb as it gets. There's CCTV all over the place, law enforcement could trace this guy likely almost every step of the way. I think he's going to be identified quite soon. Hopefully, anyway. Most criminals are dumbasses, and I hope it was worth throwing his life away to shoot a guy for no reason.

I wasn’t arguing for vigilante justice. I’m saying that there are people out there who don’t agree or simply give a fuck about everything you just said, especially when they’ve been pushed to their brink. With everything that’s been going on economically, insurance companies bending people over, and all the talk about “destroying the rich”, yes I’m surprised something like this didn’t happen sooner.

And for the record I agree with what you said.

These real life hits are always an amauterish disappointment.

In the movies this would have been done in the targets penthouse after he'd just shagged a couple of $2000 hookers with a trail of blow coming out his nose, with the assassin then smoothly departing the scene, ready for a sexy brunette NYPD detective on their trail.

Lot of hate directed at the guy who traced the assassin’s citibike.

looks like he had a double feed which is when a spent shell gets lodged into the ejection port and another round tries to chamber you have to slide the bolt back to have it eject properly. It’s usually an indicator that the spring in the magazine needs to be changed.

How we feeling about this?? Cause I really wanna cheer this on, I want CEO’s shaking in their boots to include board members….. just saying

I, too, have accidentally logged onto GAF when I meant to go to Era.

We should try to live in a civilized society, but that perspective can change very easily when something truly shitty happens to you or your loved ones and the people or the company behind it laugh at your face, knowing you won't win even if you take them to court. A person like that might eventually break instead of thinking - "I'm gonna trust in the official investigation and vote for someone to change the laws".

Of course we can only speculate who the shooter was in this case, but I wouldn't be surprised if they blamed the CEO for what happened to them.

I am completely guessing here, but I doubt it was an "assassin" as in a murder-for-hire. I'm betting it was emotionally motivated (activist, someone who lost a loved one, etc.). If that's the case, they may not have had much experience with firearms.
From the last video posted in the OP I think by the stance and perfect body control this is 100% a pro, not some disgruntled Joe that got his claim denied. Most of the time those people don't care if they are caught afterwards, which is why so many commit suicide.

So this happened to a cousin of mine… with UHC ironically.

She randomly had a brain aneurysm (in her 30’s). Her husband took her to a local hospital in-network, they quickly found the brain bleed and told them she needed a neurosurgeon asap, and would be transferred because that smaller local hospital did not have a neurosurgeon on staff.

Transferred her by ambulance to bigger, famous state hospital. Brain surgery saved her life. 3 weeks in ICU and brain surgery = almost 500k in bills. She had full employee insurance coverage through a top 100 company at the time… and UHC denied all the claims 😂

The reason? She wasn’t specifically admitted through the emergency room of the 2nd hospital, so they billed it as out of network entirely and refused all coverage. Really crazy shit loop hole, considering she was dying at the time and these fucks really and sincerely argued that the hospital transfer didn’t count as an emergency.

Anyways, long story short, it took her almost 2 years of fighting and getting 3rd party and legal involved. UHC finally covered about 98% of the bill, but stuck her with 20k she’s still fighting.

American healthcare is an absolute shit show.

Anyone who gets put in charge of such a massive insurance corporation will have 'the blood of thousands' on their hands by either bankrupting the company in two weeks by blindly approving every claim or implementing a different but still 'killing thousands' system.

I don’t condone this and if the guy gets caught he should be tried to the full extent of the law. On the other hand I’m certainly not going to shed any tears over this.

That is ridiculous.

I can't believe the US has the system it has.

I've read the US Gov spends more of a % of it's GDP on healthcare than many European countries do on their semi-socialised health systems.

So I don't see why it can't be reformed to be much more reasonable and accessible if others can achieve it with less spending.

First, people dying sucks. Second, denying claims at such high rates is not good for society, it's only going to cause more death and more poverty/homelessness--this point is only going to get worse here in the States unfortunately. While I feel bad for the family, I don't have much sympathy for the CEO.

This is my healthcare provider. I haven't had any claims get denied yet but this is nice reason to keep in the back of my mind to make sure my future employers have better coverage. I really wish healthcare in the US wasn't so terrible.

C’mon man, this dudes salary is $9million while the nation is suffering under astronomical inflation living pay check to pay check while denying life saving treatments.

It’s all greed, you push the people to the breaking point, this is the end result. I’m sorry, not trying to come off as insensitive but you reap what you sow.

And in my opinion, it needs to burn to the ground and someone needs to hit the reset button.
His motive most likely is being sick tired of the bull shit.

Seek help, your brain is rotten.

We cannot let people do this in a civilized society.
That's the sticking point. We no longer live in a civilized society as social murder goes unpunished and ignored.

When one individual inflicts bodily injury upon another such that death results, we call the deed manslaughter; when the assailant knew in advance that the injury would be fatal, we call his deed murder. But when society places hundreds of proletarians in such a position that they inevitably meet a too early and an unnatural death, one which is quite as much a death by violence as that by the sword or bullet; when it deprives thousands of the necessaries of life, places them under conditions in which they cannot live – forces them, through the strong arm of the law, to remain in such conditions until that death ensues which is the inevitable consequence – knows that these thousands of victims must perish, and yet permits these conditions to remain, its deed is murder just as surely as the deed of the single individual; disguised, malicious murder, murder against which none can defend himself, which does not seem what it is, because no man sees the murderer, because the death of the victim seems a natural one, since the offence is more one of omission than of commission. But murder it remains.

See I get people saying a wife a kids lost someone but when you read stuff like this it's a very high chance that the person who did this could've lost someone due to being denied coverage.

I don't condone it, but I get it, if you're someone who's been paying into the system for years only to have that system say "nah bro" due to a faulty AI and that leading to a death of a loved one, it's easy to see a motive.

Don't be naive. This isn't about someone, this was a targeted kill by an assassin. The DOJ was investigating something into UHC.

Didn't you make some comments in a now closed thread that contradict this?

Then if it's not personal related then it's corruption/money related, either way it's shit.

What happens when those CEOs just aren't held accountable for so long? Not agreeing with what happened, but sounds like a symptom of something.

This. And again I'm not for this kind of shit, but like Jinxed Jinxed brought up earlier, the situation isn't black and white. We have laws in place to hold these people accountable. Sometimes the system works, and sometimes it doesn't. Should we go deal vigilante justice when the courts fail us? No, but try convincing millions of desperate and beaten down people of that.

All it takes is one person.

Because it's a business. You have thousand of companies, millions of people employed in them that actively profit from the situation. It's exactly the same as crazy US university book publishing prices for $150 a book you cannot rent, cannot buy second hand - it's a business.

Why is a hospital charging 500 k for brain surgery isn’t that scamming insurance companies ?? Half a million to stay in a hospital for three weeks no wonder insurance companies would try hard to deny that claim u gotta cap these hospitals

Oh no, half a mill for weeks in a neuro ICU is totally believable. The amount of CONSTANT care and monitoring in these types of VERY specialized units is staggering.

Its a tough call, on the one hand its impossible for most folks to plan for these types of events, hence the need for insurance. On the other hand, 'only' $20K for living through an event that has a very high fatality rate is a trade most of us would make. Fighting the insurance company is the BS part, hopefully the hospitals did a lot of the heavy lifting for them.

I knew a guy who died, basically on the spot, from an aneurysm. They found him sitting by a tree. Probably had a bad headache for a few minutes and that was it.
