I forgot they havent announced MeiQ for PC yet. Omega Quintet too right?

I don't even mind PC ports at all, but that's not event announcement worthy.

What still interests me is MonMonpiece for PC uncensored and what that could mean for other Genkai Tokki titles.

I wish they would just put the other Genkai Tokki games on PC uncensored if they're not willing to do censored Vita releases (I still think they could probably localize Seven Pirates uncensored). I'd rather have them on Vita but if the alternative is no English release at all I'll settle. I don't think they can really afford to keep doing Japan-only releases that sell sub-20k first week and then fall off the charts for much longer.

Sometimes I think their success in the west is all that keeps IF afloat.

Which raises the question of why they continue to put content in games that guarantee said games will never come out over here. Like good lord if we lose Mary Skelter because that fucking rubbing minigame. They actually seem to have put a significant amount of effort into it, yet all it takes is a super lewd minigame to keep it away from the West. Are they actually fine with their numbers in only Japan? I mean I get that the Moero series only sells because of it's fanservice, but does said fanservice need to be in all their other games as well?

Or just start doing English Asia versions (again)

Then submit that to rating boards to see who allows it and who doesn't. Ignore those that don't

Doesn't seem that diffictult to me

I really do not get why they stopped, especially considering the quality many of these translations end up having (little effort/money). Did Moe Chronicles do badly in terms of importing, even though all signs point to it being one of the bigger sellers for import sites?

It's kind of why I really dislike the company if not loathe them. Any small hope they have of making something interesting is quickly dashed when they release another piece of lowest common denominator shit.

The entire reason 'Compile Heart' exists is because the IF brand is toxic in Japan.

You loathe them because they make games that are not for you?

That's like me loathing Paradox. It's a bit weird tbh

I loathe them because they make games that are an insult to Japanese developed games. People like Suda51 and Career Soft struggle to get their classics localized, but we're buried in fan service trite like the shit they serve up on a monthly basis.

Make a thought provoking crime drama about the affects of politics and technology? Struggle to sell a few thousand. Fan service moe RPG? Swimming in cash.

Sounds like you loathe the audience, not the people making games. Still don't understand that perspective

this is just nonsense. That's like saying a company making porn is an insult to Hollywood.

As much as Idea Factory is known for Neptunia and lewd games, that's not all they do. It's like dismissing Nippon Ichi because you hate Disgaea. A big chunk of Idea Factory's income comes from otome titles, which range from mediocre to pretty great. Lewd may be what brings them
fame
infamy, but that's not all they do.

I mean the stuff they put out gives JRPGs and such a bad name. How much damage was done to the Vita's reputation because of their average release, for instance?

And yes, I know they do otomes. I've also vocally said I think it's all they're good at.

You vastly overestimate the impact they have. Barely anyone even knows who Compile Heart is
No one thinks worse of FF XV because a game like Neptunia exists.

That's all you

If the Vita had more games no one would care about the lewd stuff. PS4 and Steam now have a ton as well and they don't share that reputation. You (very vocally) hate CH for finding and successfully serving a niche with no impact on you or anyone else and it's absurd

Fact: their releases are still absurdly popular.
Compare, say, a niche spin off:
https://steamspy.com/app/496810

to The Silver Case, a localization 17 years in the making:
https://steamspy.com/app/476650

It's setting a sad precedent for how likely such miracles are in the future.

Yes, there are more people who want fun lighthearted anime stuff than weird Suda51 adventures. This has nothing to do with CH

CH not making games or making more weird adventures that no one buys wouldn't change that. People would get less fun anime games and you still wouldn't get your weird adventure games.

And I'm saying that as someone who will buy Silver Case day 1 on PS4 and has no intention of buying Blanc Zombies whatever unless its <$10

I don't know why they bother to keep throwing the rubbing shit in because it doesn't even seem to be helping Japanese sales anymore really. Seven Pirates only did 12k the first week, that can't be enough to justify the development costs by sacrificing the western audience.

Even I never found the rubbing stuff in games enjoyable. I don't really get it.

This is more my personal preference, yes, but the short version is I'd like to see more devs doing what (90s era) GHM was doing and less what IF is doing, and IF is definitely encouraging the latter trend.

Shoot, look at how Swery struggled with D4.

It was gonna bomb wherever it released. It might've just eeked a few additional sales out if they'd have released a Vita version.

Don't understand what happened with that game at all really. Seemed to have a troubled development judging the time between announcement and release and the cancellation of Vita version. Who actually developed it?

I found out who developed it: Planet-G. They're far from a stranger to Vita. The game runs on
Unity
, which I guess is where the problems came from.

We didn't miss out on too much, though. The game bombed on PS4 and that doesn't seem to have been an unjust sentence.

I bought D4 on Steam but ended up refunding it because I hated the controls. Tried with both controller and mouse but didn't like either option. It was unfortunate because I really liked Deadly Premonition, I even got the platinum trophy. I'm looking forward to The Silver Case on PS4 at least.

I just don't follow the logic how IF is encouraging anything. IF is making those games because that audience is still willing to spend money while everyone else downloads even lower effort garbage for free on mobile.

You might as well be angry at Activision because COD is successful.

The best thing to do is appreciate and talk about the games you like, not constantly shit on the games other people like. You'll never get more support for your cause that way

Swery needs to make the game about the masturbating schoolgirl detective so everyone can get what they want. I bet CH would be down

I bought MonMon when it was on sale for $5 because I'm not really into card games in general, but I ended up liking it a lot. The rubbing was amusing at first but it got old after a while. I did like Moero Chronicle and Seven Pirates more overall, though. Moero Crystal is the only game in the "series" I haven't played, I'm still pissed they just axed the English translation without ever commenting on it. Really scummy IMO.

Did they ever fix rocket boobs in Seven Pirates? >____>

They never amused me even if I am a mecha fan. <____<

I stopped playing it in hopes of them that they can fix it (then moved on to VD:B, which I stopped playing since I was contemplating over buying it again with it's re-release/DLC pack).

Do you mean the shape? There's an item to change them without affecting the stats.

I really thought we'd seen the last of these kinds of posts and yet here we are again with them popping up in the GGP thread and now here.

*sigh*. I don't even really feel like arguing it anymore.

Even I never found the rubbing stuff in games enjoyable. I don't really get it.

I can definitely get behind this though. I haven't done anything but skip past such mechanics wherever possible when I've come across them.

Feels like they didn't really do anything proper for the console until Sengoku Otome though. Thanks for finding this Takao!

Unity, lol. I wonder if Acquire are going to pull it together in time for Akiba's Beat. I still wish we'd gotten Crows though.

Btw, not in direct response to this, but didn't Sony handle the English-Asian release of Moero Chronicle and were due to handle Moero Crystal?

Yeah, with a usps tracking number.

Nice! Hopefully mine mine won't be too much longer. I'm really excited for this one.

If anyone knows, have they mentioned what preorder numbers for this are?

Edit: Decided to check my Play Asia order of DQB and it seems that shipped a week ago. So if anyone was waiting for the second batch, you'll probably be getting yours soon, too.

Bad news everyone :(

Demetrios was supposed to come out next week. But due to some worrying bugs with saves reported by reviewers, I've decided to push back the release of Demetrios on Vita to December 6th.

I'm also looking to perform additional tests, so if you have some time to play in the next few days and would be interested to help, please message me and I'll send you a code.

Truly sorry! I prefer to make sure I don't release the game in a potentially broken state.

I'm sorry for the delay :(. If I come across any issues or bugs during my time with the game, I will inform you right away.

Thank you for your help! :) The more information I can get on these bugs, the better I can fix them.

Grim Patron, I've sent you a message :)

A buddy of mine likes Japanese games so he bought a Vita. Persuaded him to buy P4G -He's very excited to about it!- and lent him my copy of Danganronpa 2 today. :)

Doing my part. VITA MEANS LIFE!
