Haven't checked this myself yet but I assumed you could buy it either via browser or app or obviously the PS4 console.

My point is though, sure is still a way to dupe people who might not think to check the other places. It's manipulation in my book.

Yeah but the value Microsoft is offering is incomparable. Nobody in their right mind is going to pay $70 for a single game when they can pay for gamepass instead. Microsoft is practically giving them away so it won't matter what Sony does, if Microsoft can get some games it will be game over.

I'm not an Xbox fanboy, I've always bough Playstation consoles, I have a PS5 with nothing to play though. So if Microsoft get their shit in order and releases some fucking games I'm pretty sure everyone will jump in. The thing is that Phill Spencer is one of the worst managers around so I don't think they will seize the opportunity.

Forcing people to buy the PS5 digital deluxe edition to have an upgrade path to the PS5 version spending an extra 20$ was a greedy move and a mistake, they should have offered the dual entitlement option in the standard PS5 version at 70$.
So it's good that they backtracked and now they're not even asking the extra 10$.
And it's also good they finally set a standard policy so people know that every upgrade to PS5 versions of PS4 first party games will be 10$ more.

I agree but it's not just him, it's the people around him. Somebody should be there to relay what the optics of their policies are before they release the info to the public. They are doing damage to the brand, making unforced errors and making MS policies look much better than their own. Thursday should have a good day for Sony with the preorders going live but all we've been talking about for 3 days is PR own goals/shady practises. They need to learn and fix how they present things, totally agree.

They realized the backlash would continue so they had to come in and set a standard policy for all of the cross gen games.

Horizon FB will be one of the biggest games released next year so it was foolish for them to not make a upgrade path the first time.

Yes as I said in a previous post, Battlefield 2042 and Horizon Forbidden West are the first two games I have seen to not list the last-gen versions on the PS5 storefront. It's honestly a bigger problem for battlefield

It's going to take a lot more than Gamepass to take down PlayStation. Now to entertain your idea that people refuse to buy games because of Gamepass. That's something that will be extremely dangerous for the industry and I don't see every developer releasing their games day one on that service. Which why I don't believe Gamepass will have the effect of taking down Sony.

Tbf, you can't buy the PS5 version of FF VII R without the dlc. So its kind of a stupid point to make.

And as others have said, the PS4 version upgraded to PS5 without the Yuffie dlc for free.

Along with the fact that unlike many 3rd parties and the competition, Sony's FP games don't rely nearly as much on MTXs.

I feel like it's rich that Americans are bitching about a $10 (i.e. roughly £6-7) increase in game prices when they've been paying $60 for decades.

Meanwhile in the UK we've seen a £10 increase in game prices at retail every generation, where we went from £30-35 per game during the PS2 gen up to the absurd £70-90 prices for new games that we have now.
