my Windows BT Folder is getting more files every second so i guess it`s downloading right now. I wont update right away though. The Ps4 Controller issue with Win10 is a nogo for me and Windows 7 runs great so no need to upgrade now. Never change a running system^^

Sounds like your Windows operating systems are downloading the upgrade in the background and it is not finished for you yet. Windows will notify you about it on release date, after download is finished. I guess this is how they reduce the massive load on launch: the pre-download the upgrade.

I would recommend waiting for windows notification about upgrade being ready to avoid possible corruption issues due to missing files.

There has been a release build available for about a week, so I've just updated both my laptop and my desktop with 10...
I was apprehensive at first, but it went so well on my laptop it was a no brainer to upgrade my desktop as well...
its the best of 7 with the best of 8.1

How do you reserve your Win 10 key if you are running the tech preview?

All the FAQs and information on Microsoft's site point to the upgrade app available in Win7/8.

You don't really reserve anything, when you upgrade 7/8.1 the license is converted to win 10. So you need to install 7/8.1, activate and upgrade to 10 on the 29th. I think they said there is an issue with activation currently so you can't just upgrade to the tech preview and get the license converted as previously was possible.

8.1, but you can upgrade to 8.1 for free.

The only issue I have seen has been on my tablet. Since the last build of windows 10 my micro SD extra drive space doesn't show up.

I have been running on my desktop with no issues.

VMware networking side is buggy, OpenVPN needs some reg edits to get working.

I blindly believe in microsoft to finally wow us with their windows 10.
They skipped 9 to make 10
So 10 will be bug free

windows 8.1 isn't 'buggy' and no win 10 still has bugs. it's just that they are doing an overhaul on the entire updates procedure and going more towards a 'deploy all the time' type scenario. Which is where most developement products are at now. deploy 10 times a day instead of once per month. smaller release cycles, smaller bugs which are easier to squish.

Just upgrade, all my stuff worked fine upgrading from 7 to the tech preview. The thing is, the old license is converted to 10 so there is no going back afaik.

You can run windows 7 for 90 days using the grace period if worst comes to worst.

I'll hold off on my gaming machine for a while until I'm sure everything I use works correctly. Namely, I use WiinUSoft to play everything with a Wii U Pro controller because that thing has such great battery life, I have to charge it like once every two weeks whereas the Dualshock 4 is like once every day. I just checked and I already have the files to upgrade with, too.

I know going without wires is more convenient for all sorts of reasons, but is it impossible for you to use anything wired with your current living situation?

I want to upgrade it as soon as possible, but I'm also playing Dark Souls right now and don't want to mess it up. I've read at some Steam community discussion that it works without problems, but I have my reservations about this. Hope it's alright.

Dark Souls seems to work fine here.
But depending on what controller you use to play, you might run into issues.

Is the issues with dual monitor Wallpapers fixed?

I use my right monitor as my main display and the left monitor as the extended one, but there is some glitch with tiling the wallpaper where dual screen wallpapers only tile properly if you are using left as main and right as extended.

Check Windows Update and make sure you are completely up to date, that did it for me!

To be fair the 'Get Windows 10' app does state clearly that it'll download W10 in the background and then notify you. You can still opt out by canceling your 'reservation' though.

of course it doesnt update. You dont have all the files . this thing is over 6 Gb when it`s finished downloading. Why can`t people wait? Why risk starting an important update like this without all the files on your pc? If your PC runs good with Win7 / 8.1 why the hurry? it`s very likely there are still alot of bugs that could f**** something up .

if your games are on other drives you have nothing to worry about..... even if you install a fresh windows you can manually add the steam library folders back into steam and your games will show up
