I have tried literally everything to make that icon appear, but to no avail. Gonna just wait till July 29 and see if there's some manual way of upgrading after that.
I have Windows 7 and got the option for the free upgrade but, I would like to know if my 3 year old laptop can handle the OS. I would hate to upgrade and my Laptop ends up being slower. Is there anyway to know if my specs which aren't the best can handle it?

I see it where it says No issues were found during our scan. I guess this means it will work!On the popup there is a section that tells you if there would be any problems, I assume it would be in there?
This is good to hear. Thank you both for answering so quick!Win8 had less system requirements than Win7, I don't think that Win10 will need more than Win8. You should be fine.
So,
Bought Windows 8 with the infamous 14$ deal on MS store back in the day.
That counts as a full license i can transfer to a new PC in case i upgrade, right ?
Thanks for the replies. Still unsure whether to upgrade, but it is tempting.
My gf runs a MacBook Air (about 12 months old) with a win 7 boot camp partition. Is there any news on when this will support windows 10?

yeah I wanna know that too before I upgrade.Any games having issues?
Do I need to find my Windows 7 cd key for the upgrade or is it ready to go? Will it replace Windows 7 install files? Running low on space.

thanks, that's good to know.Haven't faced any issues in the few days I have been running Windows 10. Everything runs smooth game wise so far.
Just saw a W10 TV ad claiming it's out now, what's up with that?
If I'm a windows insider, am I first in line for upgrades on my other PCs too?
I believe so, you already are running the RTM release. But I am sure tomorrow even the preview member will get small update.
On one of my systems at home, I have Windows 7 that is not genuine. Will I be able to also upgrade that system to Windows 10?

For $120 you will.
You absolutely can. You can either join the insider program and be stuck as a beta user or you can go buy a retail copy.
I'm confused. How will things go down on the 29th? I have one PC running the insider preview but how can I get Windows 10 on my other computers? Does the insider preview turn full retail and stay Pro on the 29th? Should I just put the insider preview on all of my PCs?
Ok, for some reason I thought that non-genuine W7 users would also be able to upgrade to W10 for free.

I'm pretty sure my Win 7 is bootlegged. I bought a PC from a local builder, and I'm 99% sure he installed a cracked copy. I'm probably paying for an upgrade, right?
Did anybody's Chrome flash video get stuttery? How do I fix this? It's fine in the Edge browser.
Got a laptop that literally will not update anymore smh. So its stuck at 8.1 unless I do a clean install...which apparently I can't even do. Its really weird...some specific windows update won't play ball with my system. Apparently Staples will be installing Win10 for free so I may just have them do it then.I have tried literally everything to make that icon appear, but to no avail. Dude, 8 isn't anywhere close to the catastrophy that was Vista.
The only thing wrong with Win 8 is Metro and the lack of a start menu. Both are very easily fixed within a few minutes.
Inform me GAF, of my ignorance here...if I update is it like refreshing my whole PC with a new OS where I have to reinstall everything or is it more like downloading an update where I keep all my programs but the OS changes to something new?
Because I'd just rather not lose all my files if I decide to upgrade...
Should I backup my files before upgrading?
New to PC is there a way I can move all my steam games to an external hard drive then do clean install? I'd hate to download everything again.
