You can check 'C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download\0ef3a7b4ab9df805ef65cf251975f3c6' (or something similar) to see if the download of W10 has started. When it's done, it will unpack to Windows BT and download the rest, if I'm not mistaken.

I saw a few people say this, but a few other people say they were able to install. Assuming you have the Windows BT folder, setup.exe is present, and size has reached the full 6+ GB, is there a reliable procedure to go ahead and install it early?
Yea, I played it for the last hour. I had to load it from the Mojang site to launch the store and when it showed $9.99, I clicked that, and it started downloading for free since I own Minecraft on PC and redeemed the code from the Mojang site.

Someone please help me re-run the test that the windows 10 app uses to see if your machine is capable, there must be a way..
I wonder which option is easier. Ask someone here, or install a completely new OS..

upgrading is perfectly fine, this time around (and this is coming from someone who ALWAYS installed clean). No sluggishness, no bloat and runs perfectly

So do the upgrade. You will later have the option to do a reinstall or a clean install...but do the upgrade first
You can keep all programs on install...I did a lot of the insider preview upgrades and only had one issue which was fixed with a reinstall of the program (settings issues in plex)
Hmm, haven't seen any Win10 icons anywhere yet (Win 8.1). Do I need to do any optional updates? Seems to be only compatibility fixes and a camera codec pack left.
edit: Apparantely the update thing is in one of these updates described as "resolving issues in Windows": KB3035583. edit2: + KB2976978, though still not showing.

mine is 6.24. I tried to install it, it said failed. I didn't even notice it was downloading.

Is it possible for me to change windows' language to English when I'm upgrading?
When I bought 8.1, I asked for English, but the clerk gave me a French box and only noticed after registering my key, etc.
Now some sites assume I'm in France or want their site in French because of that. Really annoying. (I'm in Québec)

Sites being in French has nothing to do with your Windows. The sites just know that you're in Quebec and offer their site in French because of that. I have an English version of Windows but sites (like YouTube) still default to Estonian.
As for being able to choose your Windows to be in English, you can do that whenever. Just go into Windows language settings (click on the language button on the bottom right in the taskbar and go to "language preferences" or whatever you have there), then add a language and finally click on "Options" next to the language of your choice and choose "Make this the primary language" or whatever you have there.

My update is down as failed as well? I'm assuming it's some sort of built in block that stops the update from occuring until tomorrow?
You dont it is rolling out in stages and all people who reserved a copy are having it auto downloaded to install on release date, or a time of their choosing (after midnight tonight EST)
If you are an insider probably getting first then others will follow in roll out over time.

I have the same thing..failed failed failed..where do I find the file Im really confused..and when I do find the file..what do I do with it to convert it to ISO..then do I do the upgrade, then clean install after wards?
I always wondered about games that I didn't install to my Windows directory. If I format my Windows and they stay in my games folder that is not my Windows directory they will never appear in the "Programs and Features" list in the Control Panel, right?
Is there even any real point in having the games in that list? Should I perhaps uninstall them before the Windows update and install them again when I'm done updating?

If you want to clean install, you have to reinstall all your games. If you upgrade, I hear that it keeps the installs intact (mostly).
Just don't worry about it. Windows 10 isn't released yet.
Sorry I meant the hard drive I have Windows installed on. I only have a 128GB SSD so I usually don't install my games there.

The drop box link they posted is dead. That's why I gave up last night.
"GWX Main: App failed to start hresult: The system cannot find the file specified." is what I'm getting at the moment after manually installing KB3035583 and adding the Registry key. I just can't be arsed to put in effort and research to get this going.

If you have the little Windows 10 icon in your notifications icons on the taskbar, yes.
It's a hidden folder in the root. Check if you have hidden files and folders shown. If you do have them shown and you don't see that folder in your Windows drive root, then it hasn't been downloaded.
Well it's officially out tomorrow so I would assume so. It seems like it's downloading for some people now so that it can install tomorrow without needing to get everything downloaded, so like a staggered roll out to keep the internet from breaking.

My folder is only showing 140MB, I guess I'll have to wait, no biggie. I was planning on giving it a day or two anyway to see if there will be any major issues.
