Upgrade to Windows 10?

Is anyone else having problems with Battle.net after upgrading to windows 10? I try to login but it gives me an error code. After looking on their website, nothing lead me to a solution.

I just wanna play some Hearthstone :(

I've been using Battle.net since upgrading to W10, zero problems on my end.

Screenshot of GF's - anyone experienced this?

I have a 760 also, and I had the ! on it in the Device Manager. My nvidia control panel wouldn't show up. What I had to do was uninstall from the device manager there and install the driver myself (nvidia installer). I don't know if you tried that already or if Windows kept reinstalling a driver over it. I also used Display Driver Uninstaller to do full uninstalls. I've been going back and forward between Windows 10, and Windows 7 reinstalls.

If you can, turn off the auto driver updates.

does anyone have any tips on getting max payne 1 and 2 to run? they worked fine in win7 but now when i run either of them a little .tmp file appears briefly in task manager but nothing ever happens. no launcher, no process, nothing. the log file shows timestamps for every attempt but they're all blank.

i tried the steam version, then i tried reinstalling my cd versions. i tried them patched and unpatched, with the sound fix, tried running on a single core, different compatibility settings, command line parameters, etc. i'm out of ideas.
I heard they work in windowed mode.

Just want to give an update regarding Battle.net not working. Couple hours ago I figured, why the hell not give it one more try. So I booted it up and I was able to play Hearthstone. I don't know the cause, maybe it was because they had schedule maintenance, but it's working now.

ALSO, anyone here using the mail app? I have the settings to where I should be receiving a desktop notification every time I receive new mail, but nothing pops up. Do I have to leave the app open?

I seem to be getting some noticeable gains in open world games especially. Witcher 3, GTA V, and Ark are all running noticeably better for me. Is having a 2600k@4.4 with hyperthreading the difference? It seems to be utilizing the 4 threads more than I've noticed in the past. I have 2x 970's as well.

From what I see, the mail app notifications are very slow.

I've mentioned this multiple times in this thread, but it's been eleven-ish days since I've upgraded, and it's still happening.

Whenever I turn computer on for the first time each day, it works fine for five-to-ten minutes but then abruptly shuts down, no shutting down screen or anything. Then it turns itself back on and it doesn't do that for the rest of the day. The only time I don't recall this happening was the day after I downloaded the first service pack.

I'm thinking it's a hardware issue, but I don't want to revert, I honestly really like Windows 10. I've read that there's malware that causes this sort of thing as well, but I would've thought it'd be addressed by now.

Run a hardware diagnostic test. Do advanced on ram.

That's not really true. This is a completely new branch so there ought to be fixes and new bugs. They don't document all fixes that go into a driver version. There's no reason to release a new driver if it contains nothing new.

Strange because on their forums, they say " In addition this driver also brings bug fixes and increased stability in some games reported by customers "
I'll take your word for it, I don't know how Nvidia typically does driver release notes.

Does anyone notice on Left 4 Dead 2 textures and objects appearing black until you get up close to them? Propane tanks, parts of buildings, roofs and all that are sometimes black until I approach it then it lifts kinda like fog. Witches are like that too. It's annoying. Also, some of the text when your in a lobby disappears after a game like parts of Steam ID's the campaign name, things like that.

I'm having strange crashes in Maya 2015 in win10, is anyone else having that too? I'm aware these programs like Maya and Max are very crash prone but I've got the latest service pack and it's not crashing in the tutorial videos I'm using (which I assume are not made in win10). It's essentially auto crashing as soon as I fill in an quad draw in perspective view :/

Finally did the upgrade after backing up everything and crossing my fingers. I didn't even mess around after doing the update and immediately did a fresh install. Runs great, looks great, and overall a nice upgrade over windows 7.

What was the name of that program that lets you insert custom resolutions for the AMD Catalyst Control manager? I thought somebody linked it in GAF before, but couldn't find it.

Does anyone else get slow log off and restart due to 'Program Manager' not closing. I cant even find this process running and Google has not helped me on this one.

I'm running dual monitors, running at 144 and 60hz respectively. Whenever I drag and move windows around on the 60hz screen, they seem to flicker. It works fine though when I put both monitors at 60hz. Any tips? Had no issues under windows 7.

GeForce 6-series and GeForce 7-series GPUs have moved to legacy support with the
GeForce Release 304 drivers. These products are no longer supported beginning with
the GeForce Release 310 drivers.
Ouch, don't know that..

I upgraded last night, after I made sure I will have no problems.

Turned on privacy settings during install.

Games play normal. No increase or decrease at all from ehat I can tell or its negligible.

No problems at all except it broke my razer synapse software, which in all honesty is a God send. That fucking program is a nightmare sometimes.

Wait also had an endless resarting cycle. Have a gigabyte board and followed something I found in this thread.

Besides that its been pretty perfect. Xbox streaming has basically no delay. Its got to be in the thousandths of a second. Its nice and fast, everything works.

I tried the twitter client in the Windows Store because Tweet Deck starting doing 'click to load more' shit. This client crashes at least 3 times a day and also has 'tap to load more' looks like a new 'feature' of twitter..

From what I understand W10 installs your drivers automatically but does it update them automatically as well? Nvidia released a new driver yesterday. Would windows install that or would I have to do it myself?

AFAIK:

This depents if you have the pro or the 'normal' version. In the PRO version you can easily deactivate the auto driver process but not in the standard version.
Anyway if you want to install the driver manualy you are free to do so in both versions.

So I upgraded to W10 via the MediaCreationTool in the OP but then I went back to W7 for various reasons.

Now I want to upgrade to W10 again but the tool is downloading the files again. Shouldn't the files be still on my PC? Is there a folder somewhere where I can manually initialize the setup?

I ran the Windows Memory Diagnostic on computer. No problems found.

I had this exact same problem on Windows 8 when I first installed it. Turning off Fast Boot fixed it. I don't have Win 10 installed yet but I'm assuming the settings are in the same place. Control Panel | Power Options | Choose what the power button does, and then down below is "Turn on fast startup". You might have to click the line near the top that says "Change settings that are currently unavailable".

If that doesn't fix it the other possible causes I found back then were fast boot options in Bios, flaky ram, flaky power supplies, or possible bad driver somewhere. It sure sounds like what happened with me though with the Fast Boot setting.

Quick question for you guys.

I'm planning on doing an upgrade of my cpu and mobo on my desktop. This desktop is currently running the rtm that was given to us preview types prior to the official launch.

Will I have to call Microsoft to activate due to hardware changes? Both CPU and motherboard and nothing else.

People who got Windows 10 Education, did you find a way to get rid of the watermark?
I guess I can live with it as it's pretty tame and stays under programs, but if there's easy way to erase it let me know.

I used the tool dozens of times in my many attempts to upgrade to Win10. Each and every time, the tool re-downloaded everything, as if it had never been run before. I don't think it's programmed to re-use anything it's already downloaded before.

Thanks, I've got Pro. I don't mind if Windows update them automatically, I was mainly wondering if it actually does update the video drivers. I know it automatically downloads them during the install, I just wasn't sure if it keeps them up to date. Anyone know?

Holy shit, that might just be it. Thank you, I'll update tomorrow.
