It looks very good IMO. And it comes with the kongas to boot! Good move NOA.

No "King of Kings"? :(

At least it looks good.

EDIT: I'm looking at it more, and I'm not actually too sure. It's nice, no doubt; Nintendo has definitely put out worse. It's just... after the JPN cover, there's not a whole lot that can be done better.

I don't want another set of drums, dammit. I have two so my GF and I can play, and thats all I want/need.

Is a conga-free SKU confirmed yet? Someone in retail have any word?

It was $54.99 with Bongo's a few weeks ago at ebgames.com... should've ordered then!

Ouch. I was hoping for $30 without and $50 with. Apparently Nintendo wasn't willing to take another big financial hit to get the bongos into so many homes like they did with Konga. I'm sure the $50 Konga+drum pack was a loss leader for them.

I highly doubt it, in that nobody's ever done that before. Donkey Konga just didn't take much time/money/staff to develop, so they could get away with a cheaper price.

We have a King of Kings church near where I live. :lol
Which is precisely why they're not putting that phrase on the front cover of a video game about a monkey. Get over it guys. Anybody who says they'd put this on the cover would be fired from a marketing job faster than a jackrabbit on a date.

Besides, the "King of Kings" thing has already been done.

Then do what Oli suggested and replace it with "King of Kongs". That works quite well.

I mean, the US one isn't bad, but how can you possibly compete with this?

Strange time to bring it up, but I am really not too fond of this design of Donkey Kong (the Rare-era DKC design). Who takes credit for it? Rare? Or was it Rare designerss taking orders from Nintendo on how he should look? It looks so dated...and it just looks worse with that "hair' on it.

I know this is the image of DK that was in the game that put him back on top, but they need to change it. It's such a bastardization.

didn't nintendo give rare a series of sketches for inspiration?? DK looked about the same in the GB game too, months before DKC was out, tie and all.

Yeah, something like that. There was an interview with Miyamoto in an old Next Gen or EDGE magazine about it, and the two sketches in comparison. I had it, but I can't find it :\

The old Donkey Kong looks no non-threatening it's not funny. He looks fat and old. The sketch Rare did was a lot more muscular looking than what eventually came out in the 3D models, but at least he looks like he can take down a few giant boars. That huge brow makes him look so much better :)

With the new King Kong movie (remake?) coming soon, its probably best to avoid that refference for right now. It isn't worth the possible lawsuit.

Nintendo got sued over that very thing back when DK the arcade game released. King Kong is public domain so Nintendo would have no problems there. Not to mention the "Kong" in "Donkey Kong".

I can't wait for this. I'll spring for the set with the bongos so I can have a second pair. Not too long now.

I would have enjoyed the "King of Kings" backlash though. :lol
