Cool, then please enjoy your democratic party being a minority small enough to not even cause a speed bump when new legislation, supreme court nominees, etc. come up. Problem solved!
Voting populace is what matters and if they were conned then why do still such a high number of Trump supporters support and view Trump favorably still? Like Trump has given them enough ammunition for years and they're still not capitalizing.
everyone knows you have to pass a healthcare bill before you find out what is in it.
I'm starting to think there actually wasn't a bill of substance to read and that everybody in The House got on board because they knew the Senate was going to make their own and that this was more a symbolic thing
The ignorance that people personally read all these documents is pretty incredible. I'm sure everyone here will be voting people out of office who didn't personally read all 2300 pages of Dodd Frank also. These bills are massive, and I get you want to lash out at everyone but someone having people who work for his team and work together on things isn't one of them. Next thing you know, all these high paid Lawyers don't personally do all the background research alone!
Considering every time it's posted on GAF the only thing people flip out about is the clickbait title they read saying he didn't read the bill so... no.
Republicans and conservatives largely function as a personality cult who trusts only what the leader and party says. To them, any bad news is fake, and any bad policy is somehow the fault of liberals or democrats.

This is how I am starting to view it. No one interviewed has read the damn thing.

No it gives these vile people some plausible deniability with the people who voted for them. When they have to actually face their constituents and tell them look I am sorry I did not read the entire bill it gives them some cover because their supporters are either ignorant or just as vile of human beings as they are and they know it.
Seriously, it's their fucking job. It's one what we literally pay them for--$174,000 per year, in fact, to do exactly that. And not only is it what we pay them for, but with a bill like this in particular, that will affect millions of lives across the country. With that being the case, I would certainly hope they've dotted every I and crossed every T.This bill was about 200 pages and was the second attempt at an astonishingly hated healthcare plan that affects 1/6 of our economy.
I DO expect every single representative to read THIS.
This:
is common practice?
Maybe I'm naive but if they tell them they didn't read the bill that outrages your consituents I don't see that going over well. It's basically hey you fucked us over and didn't even care enough to know how or why.
Shit even if they didn't read a damn thing there are way better ways to put it than that
House Republicans could either read the bill or watch Ecks vs Sever and they choose the latter.
But that's not what you were complaining about so...?
I haven't said one way or the other except for the new mandate by certain people to personally read every page of a bill before voting.
Except this is still a lie. They can know what is in the bill even though they didn't read it completely... And let's be honest, Republicans aren't passing bills you don't like because they personally didn't read the entire bill. They know full well what they are signing up for and promoting.
Republicans being so cavalier about not reading the bill is rich considering it was considered a legit Republican talking point that it was ok to oppose Obamacare simply becuase not enough people read the whole thing word for word.
@costareports
Another rarely uttered truth, per some top Rs: getting bill out of the House was politically necessary. Look competent & united because... the bill is out of House, Rs believe they can perhaps blame Sen Ds for any further stall. Tell base they've acted, rally for 2018

I know. It's fucking insulting to compare the hell the ACA went through leading up to it's vote versus the backroom, hasty 24 hour, blind bill the AHCA is.

Your giving those people way too much credit. They knowingly voted those people into office and over 63 million people voted for Donald Trump who literally campaigned on screwing them over yet they still voted for him.

Well, the ACA actually got passed.
Odds are this won't, at least not in its current form. And I doubt that Trump has the ability to bring the warring factions in the GOP together to get this done.

Trying to find a silver lining here...
Not only does this jeopardize many federal Republicans but it should also really affect state Republicans in normally solid red states. This bill pushes a lot of the decision making to the states, and it will be those legislatures that will have to vote on high risk pools, whether to protect pre-existing conditions, etc. I wouldn't be surprised to see some states shift purple or blue -- crucial in some states like mine, North Carolina.

I dunno. Seems like a crucial chunk of people just vote R no matter what.
They do. They're brainwashed zombies who'll basically pretty much vote R no matter what.
Yup.
This. At every turn they revel in being willfully fucking stupid to the point that they have no issue routinely voting for things that are completely against their own interest, often in exchange for heinous things, even when it's explained that they are willfully fucking themselves over they don't give a shit. Things that will significantly hurt their own lives directly in exchange for being allowed to remain completely ignorant of the facts on virtually any topic.
These people don't want to help themselves.
PSA made the point today that if the Senate sends a bill back to the House, it will likely pass. Even though it will probably be much more moderate, at that point the Freedom Caucus will be the only thing standing in the way of repealing Obamacare and even if they don't like the bill, don't want to be the ones who save Obamacare. They basically folded on this bill as it's still Obamacare lite, just with a couple of their shitty ideas thrown on top.
Remember how Republicans whipped the public into a frenzy by making up bullshit about "death panels" in Obamacare? How quaint that seems now.
How is this even close to obamacare lite? The two bills are nothing similar. Trumpcare is heinous. A lot of people stand to lose coverage or get denied because of their bs which include people with pre existing conditions such as rape, postpartum depression, cesarean sections, and domestic violence. Also companies can also deny coverage for gynecological services and mammograms. Also on top of that this Trumpcare, will strip Medicaid funding for special needs and disabled students.
this looks like a Marvel Studios scene where Hydra agents get revealed in public https://twitter.com/aravosis/status/860240955311624194
what a fucking joke
