UT2k4...Gaming-Age Forum match tomorrow (Wednesday 12/29)!

In honor of my vacation, we're putting together a GAF UT2k4 game tomorrow evening, Wednesday 12/29, starting at 9 PM Eastern time.

Game modes are open to suggestion, but after some discussions with the usual UT suspects, I'm thinking that Assault or Deathmatch (or Team Deathmatch) is the way to go. Jailbreak (a mod) would be outstanding, but there were no servers the last time I checked. If people want to play Capture the Flag, I'll participate...but don't expect me to do anything but run around and kill people. :) (And, oh yeah, there is Onslaught, but I'd prefer that the least.)

Unless someone is willing to host a server, we'll have to find one to play on. I'll be on Xfire (jinx90277) -- look for me, and join that server. (I'll have to remember to change my character name from .rEtr0fit. to -jinx- before tomorrow.) Tre` might actually be nominated to find a server since he's in the middle of the country -- it will minimize the ping lag to both coasts.

If you have suggestions for servers, gametypes, or just want to say "I'll be there!" please reply in this thread.
 
I'll play onslaught, and maybe assualt. I literally have never touched anything 'cept onslaught.

Shit, my mic is on the fritz, so I won't be able to talk.
 
I'll play if we can get a private server that's password protected for GAF members only

otherwise it would feel like a random UT game :/
 
Thats like midnight western. I will try to be there though. I have to get up early thursday morning (going to vancouver bc!).
 
Onslaught, Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, and Assault get my vote. Biff will attend. I need to make to take a break from WOW anyhow, UT2K4 is perfect for that.

I'd like to play jailbreak, but if that's not possible then I'll vote for team deathmatch. I have a hatred for assault
 
Oh man. I don't think I've played UT2K4 in about 8 months. Yeah, ever since about one month after the retail version came out.

I would love to fire it up (after I re-install it!) and play with everyone again. Those were some great times we had earlier in the year. Though, it seems so much like a "summer" game to me. Does it to anyone else?
 
The mode looks like it'll possibly be TDM or Assault. As far as a private server, none of us have the bandwidth to host properly. (Unless any of you do)
 
I need to do some scouting for servers this afternoon...but I'm starting to get excited already!

If not TDM or Assault, what do you want to play?

By the way -- the official Atari TDM servers are basically empty these days, so we shouldn't have a problem getting onto one. I have to check on Assault later.
 
Shit, I'm trying to clear off 5 gigs from my hard drive so I can reinstall the game. This is proving to be more difficult than I originally thought. I have a 160GB hard drive, with 159 gigs of crap. Damn.

I need help, whenever i go into join game on 2k4 my system locks up. I've reinstalled, but the problem remains. And the game was working fine earlier

I went through all that too, a few months ago, and then I realized that I had installed a different firewall, and it wasn't configured to allow UT to access the internet. Maybe that's the problem?
 
Yeah, try seeing if port 7777 (I think that's the right one) is permitted.

I'm already on Xfire (jinx90277) and I'll start playing in a second. I already see Tre` on a server.
 
I get home in about an hour and a half. I already have Tre' on my Xfire list, so I'll just join him if you guys are still playing.
 
I had to bail -- my ping kept jumping between 80 and 180, and I was seeing myself get killed BEFORE the shot would show up. Next time, we need to find a server closer to the middle of the country.

Good games, though -- I dunno who xwoozy is, but he's damn good.
 
Newbie: Yeah, I think so too. They and onslaught (which I detest), are the only gametypes with maps large enough to support GAers. And that server was limited to 16 players.
