Utawarerumono: The Two Hakuoros - PS3, PS4, PSV demos on Japanese PSN

No one wants a throne you've been sitting on!
Before we start off I do not suggest trying out the demo unless you have actually played the first game. Or in the worst case scenario watched the anime at least. Since major plot points will be spoiled as this is the continuation of the story for the 2nd game in the series.

The demo for "Utawarerumono: The Two Hakuoros" is now available on the Japanese PSN.

The demo for the visual novel RPG will let you play the game’s opening parts. Unfortunately, your save data from the demo will not carry over to the retail game.

Utawarerumono: The Two Hakuoros is due out for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PS Vita in Japan on September 21.

The main difference between the 3 versions is just for the most part the graphical quality during the battle scenes. The visual novel stuff is the same for the most part. So just depends on what platform you want to play on / dont care too much about graphics during the battle sequences. Cross Save functionality should still be in there as it was with the previous game. So play on the go and transfer it over to the home console upon return. Very simple. Have done it myself with the PS4 / PSV version of the previous title.

For those who played the first one but didnt see the opening movie for this game yet here is the video below. Same warning applies in regards to spoilers about the first game. So watch at your own risk

and the import OT for the previous game for those who were curious about the 1st half.
Utawarerumono: False Mask Import OT

For those very few wondering am not planning on doing an OT this time around, scheduling and other whatnots. That and the game itself is something that pretty much requires one to be fairly competent in Japanese to be able to play it which narrows down the amount of users visiting the OT. Even more so when the genre itself is niche vs. something like the big name JRPGs.

In regards to localization for the West...

Seeing how Atlus works with Aquaplus and localized "Tears to Tiara II: Heir of the Overlord" on the PS3 no idea if they would be doing this game or not. Especially considering its broken up into 2 parts. As the game itself is mostly a visual novel first with a fairly simplistic SRPG slapped onto it, would imagine the market is pretty niche for the amount of work involved with the localization. Not to mention this isnt a project that you would expect to get dubbed either. So with that being said for now dont hold your breath for any sort of announcements soon. But if it does get announced in the future and one is a fan of visual novels it most def is worth checking out.

Though the one main problem with this series in particular is the first game never officially was localized in the West. While the anime was, its not the same as playing the game as everything is far too compressed with the anime. Same goes for the anime for the 2nd game. Reason why playing the first game or at least being familiar with the first story is so important is there are a lot of connecting plot points and characters with the 2nd game. So going in without that knowledge there will be far less of an impact as the story progresses / characters from the previous game appear.
