It's pretty cheap here in my country.

The biggest exception was probably Typing of the Dead Overkill, and that sounds like kind of a weird case.
So is this gonna be another port gamble? Does Sega have history of nasty ports over to PC?
They are usually pretty decent with some issues. Sonic generations was pretty cpu based and was a little iffy, Binary domain was great if you had a nvidia card. Their dreamcast port games are all pretty solid for the most part.
No, see the thread title. It's confirmed to support arbitrary (or at least > 1080p) rendering resolutions and 60 FPS. It also has AA which the console version lacked. They clearly did some work when porting it.So is this gonna be another port gamble?

Oh, and the system requirements are a joke.
If it's streamed at 3840x2160@60 I'd be fine with that! What if the system requirements are so low because the game is streamed from a Sega PS3 server farm?

Wonder how long it will take for someone to attempt modding this up to try and fix the balance. I mean honestly I don't expect much more to be feasible by custom missions on this woul be a dream come true.
Are they even releasing the game on PC in Japan though?

You know how, when you really want something, Steam downloads with 300 KB/s? While when you are preloading and don't really care you get 7 MB/s no problem?
I guess it's possible they could do an overpriced physical PC port for japan.I have to wonder if SEGA's keeping minimum specs low so their Japanese PC audience (aka office drones) can play the game on toasters. Good strategy, maybe, but the usual hoops of PC gaming in Japan deserve more focus, like how SEGA would rather discourage buying on STEAM vs. getting a retail box you might junk when cleaning the house out.
Better to not even try, I suppose. Hopefully, when this sells well and a sequel's on the cards, SEGA will understand who's reviving the franchise (not to underrate merchandising and crossovers in Japan).People in the Steam forum were complaining about the game not being available in Asia.
Couldn't help but save it for prosperity.

As of now it's not showing up for a Steam release in Japan, according to the jpn steam page and the steam database.
The download is "just" 16 GB.With my craptastic 400KB/s max internet, 7MB/s sounds something like Buck Rodgers style 25th century technology.
I'm sure VC coming in at 25gb it will be done in a day![]()
That's just overkill. National stigma against doing anything "fun" with PCs already limits the number of PC gamers who might invest in graphics cards and playing games in English because publishers won't bother with translations.Last I heard there were interests in Japan towards making sure retail PC gaming doesn't grow too big too quickly there so they don't cannibalize their F2Ps.
I don't think there's a preload yet. If it was a preload I wouldn't be so annoyed that it's slowSo, wait, wait, I'm double clicking on my game library but no pre-load there. Is that really coming in the next days or is it already happening?
Man, I hope something cracks there anyway. Unfortunately it probably has to come from within Japan and from someone willing to go "well screw it." And likely someone big given Falcom had a relatively strong presence but ultimately stepped out.Last I heard there were interests in Japan towards making sure retail PC gaming doesn't grow too big too quickly there so they don't cannibalize their F2Ps.

My download speeds peak at 1.1 MB/s. And that's fast for my country... It's gonna take me 2-3 days to fully retrieve the gameSo I'm with you in the complaints about how slow it's going to be!

The death of the last-generation consoles is bittersweet for this with low bandwidth.
Finally we can shift the lowest common denominator slightly higher and allow for games with higher resolution textures and uncompressed sounds and FMVs. Of course, this will be terrible for those with slower speeds. Pre-loading seems to be extremely common as of late.

I've resorted to cycling through the download locations on Steam trying to find a decent one, after my original dropped below 200 KB/s. Munich looks good so far, well at least it stays above 1MB/s.
Fake edit: and now it dropped to 200 KB/s. Ugh.
has anyone confirmed whether or not the videos in the PS3 version were FMV or in-engine?
Green Man Gaming has my admiration. I didn't expect them to push VC this much, though I can see how they've got a great deal and know it.
All the cutscenes that are not talking portraits are video files with 'in-engine' graphics. That's why the size is that much. They are in Sony's propriety codec/container too so you can expect re-encodes here.
The Edelweiss would be a fun vehicle. Alternatively, Isara's plane or the Shamrock. Marmota and Batomys are too fatty.I know this won't happen but it would be nice if SEGA got Sumo to make a free VC racer available in SART to promote the PC release.
