Valkyria Chronicles II |OT| Grind to get school credits which won't get anyone a job!

Fast enemy turns is the biggest improvement ever for this series. If they re-released the original VC with just this feature added it'd be a much better game than it already was.

Hopefully this means VC3 will have the same quick enemy turns, even if it's on PS3.

Only played the first mission and just got to the academy but I'm liking it so far. I like the school map a lot actually. Gonna have to play more tomorrow.

So...any tips on the escort mission in March? It's becoming a pain in the ass for me (maybe I just suck).

I get to the final area, and I try to make a mad dash to the end, but my tank blows up anyways.

^ lol i just beat that mission. i just took out the tank on the side and rushed the car to the goal :D

btw anyone know if theres a limit to how many new classmates scenes you can view after doing non-story missions because I keep getting new ones and it looks like the is getting along fairly well here but in the story they're still kind of apart, makes the whole thing kind of weird lol.

hmm.. no hard mode.. mostly easy missions.. very lax S/A rank counts.. disappointing.

Still bought it of course.

But I'm not done with Fire Emblem 3 DS yet. Still trying to clear Lunatic Reverse.

Lol. Can't believe the PSP2 JP save data actually worked.
That's something like 7 or 8 characters, 4 missions, and 4 stickers I've got unlocked now. Cool beans.

I saw that the Alicia figure's available for pre-order and was going to post it in the VC1 thread this morning. Pre-ordered to go with my two Selvarias!

So far, I'm enjoying the gameplay a lot. In fact, I'm enjoying just about everything but the cast and tone of the story. Though at the early point I'm at, Armored Techs seem underpowered (3 swings to kill a shocktrooper?!) and Scout rushes still seem like the easiest path to victory. I'm trying not to abuse them too much though so all my folks can get some experience.

I love that when
Alicia and Welkin
are visiting Lanseal that you can see the
Alicia's delivery truck
drive up. The 3D model of the campus is something I hope they carry over to the next game for whatever the hub location turns out to be. It's pretty to look at.

You finally showed up for the launch. This thread seemed empty without you and Durante.

Luckily, Gamestop didn't ship my copy to the wrong zip code like they did with DQIX, so it arrived today :D

Started playing in earnest today. I kinda like the additional squad interactions between missions even though most of them are through away anime cliches. If there's one thing that is going to get to me its Avan's laugh every other cutscene.

Also making an APC is crazy overpowered in the February missions :D

damn I'm loving this game! I know we all know this and have said it many times but this is truly VC1 on the psp. knowing that I can play this wherever I go melts my soul :3.

curious question. what class is your guys Avan? Mines a fencer :D

OK, I got it today, but how are the people with custom firmware able to play off UMD? That was the first thing I checked and got the typical error. The ISO plays fine after decrypting, but not the UMD. (5.5 gen-d3)

Liking the game! Wishing I had some PSP2 saved data though. And is there a tutorial anywhere on how to link your CFW PSP with your PS3's PSN account (Kinda off topic sorry)?

Funny you should mention that. One of the girls has the Potential skill, Sadist. In fact, I seemed to have activated w/in the last hour. :D

Install the v4 Prometheus CFW on top of your current CFW.

Download the PSP2 JP save data posted in this thread.
One from GameFAQs would probably work just as well.
If you need access to PSN, download the PSNLover 1.2 plugin from QJ and just sign into PSN via your PSP with your usual PSN credentials. If you mean "activating" your PSP with your PS3, that's available from the PS3 itself... though Account Management, I think. You'll need your PSP's USB cable. Or the PS3 controller's USB charger cable.

My Avan is a scout vtn.. I'm guessing you unlock Fencer later on?

I need a sniper badly, it's early on but I feel naked without one.

Holy CRAP, for the
Drascen Liberation
mission.

Anybody got any tips for the strategy? The boss basically runs around the whole map, kill me, and runs back to another spot, all in one CP move. His hammer move basically oneshots my tank, so I can't use it as a...err tank, and I can't seem to do damage to him at all.

^ that map pissed me off the first couple times :lol. best advice would prob be to claim the camps as fast as possible and if there's any one out in the open retreat them. the more camps you have under control the easier(obviously), because he'll be trying to claim them all making the last camp easier to claim.

fencer is under armor class to the right. remeber avon can be any of 5 original classes so you could potentially be any class when you get the right credits. Mauler class looks like fun, it's description says my maul can take out tanks with a single blow :D.

Thanks again, but my ps3 won't detect my psp at all. Blah. I'm off to do research!
Luckily it still detects it as a normal USB storage device so I was able to transfer my VC1 game over.

Does the linking the save game from VC1 have to be done before you start a new game, or can it be at any time?

I did it after I started a game, and it seemed to work, so I'd say you can do it any time.

Mainly, use your apc as a shield to capture and transport troops to the next base as quickly as possible. The one had a problem with was the last...which I shall tell you how I did it =p
The last base you need to capture was the one with a turret and an encroached solider. I had lost my APC at this point, but what I did was send a lancer to the side of the building, just out of sight of the turret then forced a tech guy close enough to grenade the guy. I knew the turrets like to turn when someone gets close so I had the lance peg the back of the turret, and boom! My last CP was spent slashing the guy there, and capturing that...A-grade =p
Very similar strategy I did to...that...level early in VC1.

Results may vary, my first attempt, dude spawned near that last base, and killed all who passed out of there...so I had to reset =/

Right so after playing this for most of last night I came to the conclusion that VC2 is really good. Sure there is Avan's laugh that you can't seem to escape from but so far so good from me.

Having a Marina as a scout feels weird so the sooner I can branch her in to the sniper role the better. Which leads me on to say how do you move on to a different class? I've only reached February at the moment so I'm not sure if this opens up later on in the game.

The other question is what are all these materials and what do I do with them?
I get a list of things I've won but not sure what I am supposed to do with them...
I also seem to get weapons from the mission but when I try and swap out equipment it says I dont have any weapons to swap out.....

Still, I'm having a blast with the game.

Thanks, I'll try it out tomorrow, I've been mainly just playing random stages to upgrade classes on my characters...and as a result, I've been going through their side stories too :p.

IIRC, it happens in March when you visit your Drill area. You need to have the proper credits to change classes though.

As for the materials, I think those are used to build the special weapons. When you go into R&D, you'll notice that there are some weapons that horizontal to you but in the same level (as opposed to a higher/lower level). You use materials to build those weapons, but you'll also need the weapon plans before you can build them.

As for those weapons you're receiving...I'm not sure, as I haven't used any of them yet, but you'd probably have to be the right class to equip them.

Cool thanks for the help.

The weapons I receive is an odd one because I believed I got a new lance so I went to the lancers to see if I could equip it but was welcomed with a incorrect beep. Same things happened when I got a couple of rifles. I'll keep trying to figure that bit out!

Are the proper credits the skills they gain in battle? Like for the MVP and runner up etc?

Overall, about the same as the first game. Some characters are better than others (Ugh...Netzel... and Cosette's at least half an octave too high). That is to say - it's nowhere near the worst English dub you've ever heard.

There are the same kind of exclamations in battle as the first game ("Got him!", "Aw, I missed."). Most dialogue outside important scenes are only relayed with text and a few emotive sounds from the speaking characters (URGHHH, Oh!, Huh!?, etc)

Thanks alot man :D . Im gonna pick this game up today. Think part of the reason i liked the first one was that it was fully VOed all the time. But o well. Also, is there an install on this game? Peace Walker filled my memory stick up lol.

So because the Amazon order was delayed andI didn't have a ride to Kmart till wednesday and was afraid they would be all out of the 25 VC2 I went ahead and bought this over PSN.

Really really liking it. Wish my friends that have psp's were into this game and would buy it so I could get some multiplayer on. I agree with the sentiment that the story does feel different, not just because of the art. It does feel alot more cliche "anime" I really am not endeared to any of the characters yet like I was in the first game.

I really do like the more robust tank building aspect. I really don't mind the whole only 5/6 characters on field at one time thing. By mid-game in the first one I was just using the same couple characters over and over i'm already finding myself starting to do that here, sorry cosette.

The glaring thing that is bothering me most so far is the splitting of the classes. It may sound good on paper and it does add more strategy to building your teams and groups. I don't like though how it just really makes some classes useless and annoying that aspects are split up requiring you to have 2 spots taken on the field that could have been filled by one in the first game. Again, sorry cosette but your class really really sucks now. I mean come on, you can't throw a fucking grenade cosette??

I'm really worried about permanently missing something at this point.

I've made it on to March, and I've done all of the missions so far, but my Events Encyclopedia is missing several "Winter Memories" entries and March has moved me on to "Sprint Memories". I'm sincerely hoping that this game extends into November/December and that's where the rest of the Winter Memories entries will come from, otherwise I'm going to be a very sad (and angry) panda.

I hate permanent missables. Especially on games like this that only have a single save file.

So I tried this, but my problem is that the APC is amazingly weak (mine only has 265 HP), and dies whenever the turrets are shooting its behind. If I had the Ice Crusher, I could probably bypass the turrets by crushing the ice, but I only have the rock crusher, which apparently doesn't work on ice.

Any other strategies guys?

Damn this boss and damn the turrets!

My copy just shipped and I will be getting it on the 8th :)

Started playing this last night. The game is more or less what i expected - it's valkyria chronicles in handheld form. With shorter levels designed to accommodate the hand held format. Made it up to "Febuary" before i turned it off. Can't wait to play more later.

One thing I'll say the characters and the story is more tolerable then i expected. Although i just hope the game is more 80% gameplay 20% story, and not like valkyria chronicles 50% story 50% gameplay ratio.

I'm in March. Most of my favorite troops have moved up in class. I try and get a B or better on all the missions before I move on with the story. I'm not very good yet, so I've had to redo missions a bunch. I do have a lot of experience and money to compensate though. :D

I'm in March and the only mission I got an Certificates in was from that last mission in February. :( That's holding me back from classing most people up.
