I've always said the RCC was the Disney of the middle ages given how aggressive they were with defending their intellectual property.(Like what they did with William Tyndale. Don't screw with the RCC's IPs.)

This is the first anime I remember watching. I was maybe 6 or so when it came out? I guess that's not a huge surprise considering it was the early 80s and I was raised in the US midwest, so of course it was all Jesus stuff.

The mascot bears the same name as a cousin of mine, btw. I see no problem with her (the mascot, I mean). The design is cute and the Church needs something more in line with modern youth. Of course the internet will do its magic with her, but hey, it’s not like Christian memes haven’t been a thing for the last couple of millennia.
