I dont know, its fine, i like mindy kaling. Some jokes made me chuckle, im not some mens rights snow flake so the feminist angle doesn't bug me.
I'm the house lefty over here, and I thought it was unwatchable. It's impossible to laugh at a show that's so ashamed of itself that it can't even let the characters speak like people to each other without launching into some ironic fourth wall breaking commentary on how terrible the characters are or the show is. Like the show's writers think they're too cool for their own show somehow.

Personally I think rian Johnson stuck her in a garbage bag ,gave her the dumb hair cut and make up to look awful at Kathleen Kennedy's request, Kelly Marie Tran is significantly better looking than daisy ridley, and she couldn't have her proxy being upstaged could she?
Daisy Ridley looks better, come on.

Its pretty bad, but honestly given how subjective comedy is, I have to admit that there's no shortage of things that I dislike more.

Can't even say that it's a proper hate-watch for me, more a source of morbid fascination with me scratching my head at exactly who its intended for.

Going to laugh if the producers take over the show and pull a Poochie ending to Velma. Just bring the OG cast in and have Shaggy ask, "Like Velma, you look like you have something to say."

Velma: "I most certainla do..."

As others have said I don't understand who this was made for. Just Mindy and whoever wrote it I guess. Are test screenings not a thing for streaming shows? They saw this and thought it was good shit? Raised by wolves was cancelled but this was greenlit? What a world.

Not to Knock Daisy, beauty being subjective and all….but to my eyes, she’s one of the most generic looking white woman imaginable. I’d choose Kelly Marie every time. 😂
To each his own. I reckon there’s more people that look like Tran than Ridley in the world. So who really is more generic?

Fair point. But from my perspective as a white American male, one is significantly more appealing to me. But I’m sure the opposite is also true.

I think KMT looks better than Daisy, myself. Johnson did her a disservice... I remember folks on this board calling her "the fat Asian" when she is NOT fat!

I don't think any of the design decisions for KMT's wardrobe were the fault of Ridley, tho. Johnson and the wardrobe dept are at fault for that.

It's horrible. This doesn't have to do anything with Scooby Doo. This is about Mindy Kaling self-inserting herself and using a popular IP to spout her beliefs and opinions about women and white people. It's utterly pathetic and I sincerely hope she never works on TV ever again.

That's not where the clicks are. You gotta be outraged by every thing. It's getting pretty tiresome seeing the majority of YouTube being that.
Yeh, I get that it's chasing views but it just seems like such a soulless way to interact with media. These channels all pretty much seem to cover the exact same things as each other too.

Nah it's more if people like a thing they don't bother watching reviews of it. Also isn't most of youtube fucking reaction videos?
Personally, I like reading/watching reviews and analysis of pieces of media I enjoy. It can help deepen my understanding and appreciation of it. And it can also just be interesting to see what someone else's take on it is. Also, I'm not a big reaction video person but doesn't the stuff people react to vary quite a bit? Like it could be funny, cool, surprising, scary, creepy, cringey or a whole range of other things. Whereas that style of youtube video seems to be pretty one-note.

Reaper sums it up pretty nicely.

I don't know if I would have ever called myself a Scooby Doo fan...it was something that had numerous cartoons that I watched and enjoyed as a kid. When the live action movies came out, I was a dumb enough teen that I got some enjoyment out of them (it helped that Linda Cardellini and Sarah Michelle Gellar were smokin back then). Anyway, I would never call myself a "fan", just yeah...a series that's been fun comfort junk over the years.

But this show, god...it just seems so fucking terrible in every way. I don't know if I'm upset that they're doing this to these characters, or all the politically correct BS being shoved into it...whatever it is, I just don't like it. I fucking hate that we can't have fun, good things anymore in so much media.

They keep using that term "toxic masculinity" for almost any masculine trait. This show makes me want to coin the term toxic feminism, because that's what this bull shit seems like.

I don't know if it's intentional, but this show points out the hypocrisy in the feminist bull shit. They want men to conform to what they want, yet they still really just want to fuck the men who act like assholes who they claim to despise, and think are toxic. The men who are "allies", they are treated as simps that can be used, but never appreciated, which is really sad on all fronts.

There's some legitimately good stuff on YT worth checking out. A few I would recommend.

Art:
https://www.youtube.com/@GreatArtExplained - Classic art
https://www.youtube.com/@stewarthicks - Architecture (it's art to me dammint)

Outdoors:
https://www.youtube.com/@BeauMiles - Aussie that runs, kayaks, etc. with a view on exploring the local
https://www.youtube.com/@campingwithsteve - A guy in Canada that does stealth camping in weird locations like roundabouts

Travel:
https://www.youtube.com/@baldandbankrupt - A guy whose catalog was most Russia and soviet countries until he got banned from Russia for being critical of the Ukraine war, even though he was not really commenting on it. Really educational with a focus on the day-today small villages and life.
https://www.youtube.com/@SailorJames - Guy from Cali that bought his dream boat and now is sailing the pacific; really insightful vlog of his journey

Gaming:
https://www.youtube.com/@ActionButton - Tim Rogers, love him or hate him. Long form reviews of games. If you love language and prose, he's your guy. If you just want information about a game, know that you will get it, but 80% of the content is storytelling with a dry humor.
https://www.youtube.com/@JosephAndersonChannel - Longform reviews without the storytelling of the above.
https://www.youtube.com/@SummoningSalt - Speed running histories done in a very entertaining way
https://www.youtube.com/@DigitalFoundry - Digital Foundry, enough said already I suppose.

Cooking:
https://www.youtube.com/@AlvinKZhou - The art of the slow meal preparation with incredible visuals and audio.
https://www.youtube.com/@CSaffitz - Primarily desserts from a French-trained baker/chef.

Science:
https://www.youtube.com/@pbsspacetime - All things space and physics
https://www.youtube.com/@astrumspace - Like the above
https://www.youtube.com/@veritasium - Best science YT channel that I am aware of. Can't recommend enough.

Culture:
https://www.youtube.com/@Channel5YouTube - Covers both US events as well as weird subcultures. A bit like a more modern version of Louis Theroux's Weird Weekend series, if that means anything to you.

Misc:
https://www.youtube.com/@wheezywaiter - Guy in Wisconsin who covers a ton of topics and does things like 30 day challenges. He's gotten into fitness in the past few years. Very funny and entertaining guy.

I'm going to make a YT vid on this. I'm workshopping the title, let me know what you think:
NeoGaf user DESTROYS fellow MEMBER. SHITS on his CORPSE and DEFILES his MOTHER.

Thumbnail is a guy looking just off to the side of the camera, a look of such surprise and amazement on his face that his balls are about to explode, his hair being blown back, his friend laughing beside him with dildo in his hand

I am so, so happy I never got into YouTubers.

Excellent stuff. Yeah there is tons of good stuff on yt. If a person can't find any that's on them. I'll add Andrew Huberman to that science list. His podcasts are super informative. He does a lot of fitness and health related content so its good for everyone.

I watched the first four episodes and didn't hate it. The characters are quite off, though. I feel like they're going to make Velma not actually that smart and all of her "friends" are going to figure out the murders first. We shall see.
