Both together and seperately, these individuals have put forth some of the finest music ever created. They've influenced countless acts and have moved the hearts of millions.

So what are some of your favorite songs by any of the above people?

My tops would have to be -

Sunday Morning
Stephanie Says
Sweet Jane
Heroin
Who Loves the Sun
These Days
Fairest of the Seasons
Chelsea Girls

The album Chelsea Girl by Nico is great. So pretty, yet sad. I'd agree with all the songs you posted, only need to add European Son, I just love the crazy solo on that.

I only own their last album, but I love Head Held High, Sweet Jane, Rock and Roll and Who Loves The Sun on it. The whole album is good stuff, though. I also love Heroin, which I heard on a movie soundtrack, can't remember which one.

In before "White Light/White Heat is better!"

Oh, wait, I'm the one that says that.

Nico's The Marble Index is her best album. I find Chelsea Girl to be rather hit and miss.

Anyone else think that The Velvet Underground's self/titled album (their third) is their best one? Such a great album. <3 After Hours

White Man, you'll be happy to hear that I've finally warmed up to WL/WH. I still think "Sister Ray" is garbage, but the rest of it is great.

Album ranking:

The Velvet Underground & Nico
The Velvet Underground
White Light/ White Heat
Loaded

Fave songs from VU/VU alumni:

Lady Day
Satellite of Love
I Found a Reason
Perfect Day
Venus in Furs
Candy Says
The Gift
Who Loves The Sun?
I Heard Her Call My Name
These Days
The End
Black Angel's Death Song
Sunday Morning
I'll Be Your Mirror
Walk on the Wild Side
My Only Child
Chelsea Girls
Vicious
Ride Into The Sun
New York Telephone Conversation
Make Up
Berlin
Jesus
Metal Machine Music Pt.2 :lol

I've yet to hear any of Maureen Tucker's or John Cale's solo work. Anyone care to recommend me?

White Light/White Heat is almost unlistenable. I even heard the sound engineer, or someone in line with that task, couldn't stand being in the recording sessions of 'Sister Ray'
recalling 'Just tell me when its over'. Even the 'nice' songs such as 'Here she comes now' and, well, that's it, are so grainy and uncomfortable.

The legend goes that the dude mixing the sessions spent the entire recording period making out with chicks and doing blow, without touching the board at all.

Sister Ray is better live, but the recorded version is pretty awesome. If you get a chance, read the story of the recording of that track. It's absolutely psychotic. That track was recorded in one take. They had never played it in the studio before, and had no idea what their levels should be. It was like some sort of twisted race. They were turning their instruments up louder throughout the song in an effort to drown out each other.

I have an AWESOME bootleg of a bizarre Sister Ray/Murder Mystery live medley. Awesome stuff.

Hmph...I love "Sister Ray". It's hypnotic. I can see where it probably wouldn't jive with some people though.

White Man, didn't I hear you say that Joy Division did a cover of "Sister Ray" once? I still need to hear that...

All Tomorrow's Parties
I'll Be Your Mirror <- Definitive Nico track

I'm also awfully fond of "Another VU" though I think it's long out of print. If only for "Andy's Chest"

And it's altogether a different animal than VU, but I did like Songs for Drella a lot.
