Verge: Moto X to be revealed Aug 1

Now that google runs Moto there is no way there will be a sd card slot. Google does not like expandable storage. They say it confuses consumers.

Well, the two companies are supposed to be firewalled and run separately, so it's not inconceivable that Moto could decide to put in an SD card even if the Android team thinks it's a bad idea, though I tend to agree with you.

New article by Verge, it describest hardware and software provided by trusted "tipster"
http://www.theverge.com/2013/7/19/4...cifications-processor-memory-battery-software

Dualcore 1.7GHz Snapdragon S4Pro
2GB ram
4.5" 720p display
1500 mAh battery T_T
Auto HDR camera mode
"Always-on" listening mode is turned off by default
Wrist flicking motion can turn on camera

I think I saw those very same specs somewhere with a much larger battery.

Edit: Apparently Verge redacted the battery info, they don't have a good source on that or something.

Any chance this would support LTE unlike the Nexus 4?

Would definitely buy at $200 and sell my iPhone 5 before its price bombs. My upgrade is up in September, so if I dont like it, Ill just buy the new iPhone and keep this phone as a backup.

For what I've read, it won't run the stock version of android. It will have a motorola's version so... delays in updates

The price is awesome if it's true, but almost a year later, Nexus 4 is still a better phone (looking at those specs) than Moto X.
I will wait to see what Moto X offers and the unveil of the Nexus 5, but I think that the second will be the best option for me

Actually it should be a dual core version of the Snapdragon 600 CPU. And I don't really care about that if the phone runs smoothly.

Yeah, I wouldn't care either, but it's still Android so we gotta be realistic. I'm sure a dual core S600 would be fine though.

now with renders! except the transparent menu bar on the bottom, this looks exactly like my Galaxy Nexus....

We all know Android is great and that Moto can design hardware nicely.

But goddamnit if they can't execute
  • build quality
  • battery life
  • build quality
  • build quality
  • battery life

Then we might as well pretend this never happened.
LOL, remember the droid? Rember the worst phone ever made? Remember the 2 1/2 years I spent with the biggest piece of shit communication device I'd ever used?

Prove me wrong, but this thing is gonna be a joke.

The iPhone 5 has a 1440mAh battery, and users keep saying how good it is. Let’s not complain about things we don’t know.
I know this is still Android, and you’ll most probably be right, but let’s give it a shot, it might be a surprise.

Hell fuckin no. Lets not give this a shot at all.

AT ALL. There will be no surprise. We already know. We've already been burned by this shit company. We have a 4 year old grudge.

I don't see how they sell this for $200 off contract.

Also, I want a Moto edge-less premium superphone, not this boring mid-tier copycat.

Moto X is supposedly customizable so that 1500mah battery might be the base model for 199.

The 199 off-contract price is the most exciting thing about the phone. As long as the battery is user replaceable this would be a great deal.

The custom stuff is the shell coloring not specs.

You got a fortnight to wow me Motorola otherwise it's HTC One time because I'm about to punt this fucking two year old Galaxy S2 out the nearest window.

Looks very nice, like it belongs to Nexus family. Camera could end up actually being very good in low light. Will wait for reviews.

Obviously there are somethings that aren't going to be customizable but if their customization program amounts to nothing more than shell coloring that would be just stupid.

Memory size and battery size should be an option, even if not user replaceable.

Specs on this should be fine if it really is just a dual core version of the s600, which is it's a beast in itself. We still don't know how optimized Android 4.3 is so performance wise, the phone could be excellent and maybe just not as good in gaming as the others. I run my HTC One on battery mode 90% of the time and the phone still flies. It doesn't ever lag.

For me to convince me that this is the big thing, I need to see that this has a good camera and most importantly, top battery life. It better deliver on battery if this will be thicker than 9mm otherwise theyvr failed. At this point my perfect phone would be an HTC One without capacative buttons, smaller size but maintaining 4.7 to 5.0 inches, with a 2800+ mah battery and 8mp camera. Performance wise this thing already delivers everything I've wanted.

My Nexus 4 has LTE. In fact, T-Mobile LTE is quite excellent.

Also, I would definitely buy this if it was $200, but it's being built/assembled in the US. So, there's no way it will be inexpensive.

I cannot agree. By "giving it a shot" I do not mean "yeah let's buy it", I just mean let's wait and see for a couple reviews both from journalists and users.
The Moto X is the first serious Google-led Motorola project, so everything happened so far means nothing to me, if you put it that way.
As none, on the other, was the bias I had for HTC after the One X (meh), when they came out with the One, which is an awesome phone.

Will it suck? Probably, if those 1500mAh are confirmed (which seems not, as The Verge has apparently made a step back). But I'll start complaining about battery life only when I'm 100% sure.

Have there been any rumors about whether this is supposed to have an infrared blaster like the One and S4?

It looks pretty damn good regardless.
