I hope the price is low, not hecause im interested but that would make Sony think of droppimg the price of the pro and i may need to get it for PSVR improvements.

Or 8 years if we look at when the generation started with the 360. =)

It will be interesting to see if MS and Sony use the Pro and Scorpio to extend this generation or if they launch a next gen console in a few years.

Well, historically MS has been all over the place with console life. Xbox to 360 was 4 fucking years, FOUR!

It wasn't bad at all, it as factual. Scorpio CPU is better than PS4Pro CPU. That's a fact. So they're both a Jaguar of some sort? Still better. Just like my friends 6.4 Hemi is better than my 5.7 Hemi.

Not when they are both Jaguars and both are technically "custom-built" and custom APUs so it wasn't factual the language they used, claiming one was custom and one was not just to make one sound more special, especially after saying the opposite about both chips for so long, only to change it in a video where Microsoft clearly has some level of influence in shaping the language in exchange for giving them a first-look before anyone else. With their more expensive cooling they have upped the frequency a little further than the Pro already did though. The main bump is in the GPU not the CPU.

PS4 Pro: 8-core, 2.13GHz processor
Scorpio: 8-core, 2.3GHz processor

lifespan of scorpio as the main console 2 years, no waaay.Only if they allow steam games.

I don't see an issue with that. By that time the Xbox One will be 6 years old. Come out with a successor to Scorps and Scorps takes place of the Xbox One S. Seems perfectly plausible to me.

We've heard 399 but I've also heard a $449.99 launch price as well.

MS, 399 is day 1 buy for me.....$449.99 means I wait

There are reasons the xbox reached end of life too fast. For one ms wasnt fully in control of the hardware cost as they paid a ton to nvidia. They couldn't shrink and combine the hardware parts to compete with ps2. two non factors now.

Using the historical argument doesnt really apply today.

Do we know the timeline for GF/TSMC's 7nm process node for large dies?

MS seems invested in this generationless idea. I don't think Sony was expecting much out of the Pro. Just giving people options.

I don't really buy the talk about no generations. I guarantee you they will be calling their next console a "next gen" console. Even if the Xbox 2 is as capable as the PS5, it won't look as good if they sell it as an iterative console compared to Sony's next gen console.

I also think Sony expects plenty out of the Pro, they just know that slim will have the bulk of the sales for now. Pro and Scorpio are targeting a niche market full of people who are hardcore gamers, early adopters, 4K TV owners, etc. who typically keep up with news, requiring less marketing. I think it's smart of Sony to focus most of their marketing efforts on the slim.

Because most of what you say makes no sense unless you're on drugs. =p

True but it's understandable to why they cut the OG Xbox short. They weren't going to come close to the PS2 sales, saw an opportunity to launch earlier than the competition, and was bleeding a lot of money for every console sold with no hope in cutting down the cost. That last part is likely the main reason why MS chose to launch early. That didn't apply to the 360 and doesn't apply now. Even if sales continue on the current course, there's a good chance the XBO will still be considered a success, unlike the OG Xbox where they lost $5 billion.

Edit:

If we go by AMD's roadmap, they should have 7nm GPUs by 2019. This is why I'm expecting new consoles no earlier than 2020.

Wow, all that makes sense. I mean, 399$ would be great. I still doubt I would buy one since I have a PC now but I want them to challenge Sony (which I prefer).

Competition is good.

$399 would sell me at some point during launch period, between $400-$500 would be a big wait and see. Over $500 feels like a hard no.

$399 is a great price for Scorpio, will definitely force Pro to drop its price.

Would love to see the meltdowns when Jaguar is confirmed instead of Zen lol

I hope the UI gets updated when the system releases. Jumping from game to media apps takes more steps than it should. The PS4 is almost as bad in this regard because the damn TV/Apps icon keeps moving.

Damn at that price point if true. The minute I get a Scorpio is the minute my PS4 goes from my main gaming machine to just my Sony exclusives machine and the Xbox becomes my main gaming machine.

They can launch a Scorpio successor, they just drop compatibility with Xbox one and everything becomes Scorpio and Scorpio 2 backwards compatible.

Man, I really hope MS knocks it out of the park - if for no other reason than to have a healthy competitive market

Yeah sony fanboys never cease to amaze me. Can't wait the meltdown when Scorpio is officially revealed at E3.

What exactly would cause a Sony "fanboy" to meltdown, outside of Scorpio being the codename for the check Microsoft pays to buy out SCE?

A true GameFAQs level Sony fanboy knows the Scorpio is an irrelevant threat, to their favorite console line's success.

As a male adult fanboy, the only thing that I could think of realistically is nothing.

MSFT lost it's juice and edge. All the best exclusives are on Nintendo and Sony, it's ovaaaa
FFXVI Scorpio exclusive and I'm screaming in agony

Nah, a true M/S/N fanboy love to attack other 2 companies, not showing the love this their favourite company, even it's irrelevant threat, they will still think it's a problem.

I still dont get why it matters so much if one box does better than the other box? These arent sports teams, would some of you be happier if there just wasnt an xbox? Even if you dont own one and it doesnt effect you one bit? Im trying to understand the mentality of "warriors".

I gave up trying to understand the console warrior mentality a looong time ago.

Holy hell. Microsoft going for the juggular on price.
I don't know about jugular but that is the price they HAVE to price it at. Even pricing it at just $399 won't cut it if they don't back it up with games/studios/strategy. So far they've been lacking on all of those three.

I'm still surprised at how many people think/thought that the price was going to be $499. There's a good chance we're going to be seeing $199 Xbox One S bundles this holiday. $399 is definitely a premium price for a premium Xbox One console.

i have a feeling the first thing Phil is going to do at MS's press briefing is show off the hardware and then announce the price. Bring on E3.

Cant believe people are still talking a 499 price tag. Absolute suicide if true, regardless of specs.

399 is a great price. Anything lower (doubtful) would be even sweeter.

100% would upgrade from my fatty xb1 for that price.
