I'm hoping there's a way to fight him as a boss, though.
DMC really needs a Rodin-style super boss.
That or they're just going to say that he didn't die as Nelo Angelo and that Dante somehow 'freed' Vergil by defeating Nelo.
He is talking about the DMC1 Novel made by Kamiya. While DMC3 didn't retcon anything in DMC1 particularly if you include the DMC1 Novel which was meant to be a companion piece to DMC1 then it does in fact retcon DMC1's backstory.
And bringing back Vergil is easier than bringing back Charlie in SFV. I have been saying that for years now... if Capcom wanted Vergil back he would be back.

I'd hope so. So happy we're getting this 😊 Funnily enough I found myself watching old DMC3 cutscenes and wishing they'd make another game. Not there yet but seeing as it's been years since I played DMC4 it will feel new.

I'm still in shock. I can't believe they're updating a 7 year old game just to please the fans. They even made DmC more like DMC with the changes (though I don't care for it still because Bayonetta 2 exists).
DMC5 is 100% confirmed at this point. There's absolutely no reason to remaster DMC4 other than to prepare us for DMC5.

I can't believe this is happening. Possibility of DMC5 just shot up exponentially. It's really cool that they're fully aware of why DmC didn't work and fixed nearly all of the game's issues. I still think the cutscene direction, character design and overal aesthetics are pretty gross so I'm on the fence about giving it another shot.
On the other hand, I am fucking effervescent over DMC4SE. I won't be able to calm down until they give us more details because my mind is going into overdrive thinking about all the things they could improve. It'd be amazing if they added in new scenes and a boss fight with Vergil/Nero Angelo in Dante's campaign as both an analogue to Nero's fight with Angelo Credo and a setup/tie-in to the plot of DMC5.

But what if they're a little bit more ambitious?
Vergil's entire campaign could be basically a little prelude to DMC5 itself, with an ominous "To Be Continued in DMC5..." by its end.
Anyway, with DMC4:SE being a smaller project, I'd imagine this is something Neo_G could handle on his own.
Sony are bankrolling it though.

DmC Definitive Edition announced, tons of fixes, modes, hard lock on, DMC1 costume etc coming to PS4/XB1 60FPS/1080P. Coming in March.
DMC4 Special Edition announced. Coming in Summer after DmC. Same platforms.
DmC trailer released showing all the new features... trailer ends with "but there's one more thing..." and a big ass teaser of fucking Vergil in DMC4SE.

The fact they made DmC more DMC like is making it clear that they are catering to the hardcore fans. Doing both remasters just means more money for them to fund...you know what.

E getting a bunch of updates that push it closer towards the series roots + DMC4 getting necro'd from the dead seem to, at least to me, point towards DMC5 likely happeningNeo_G = Hidetoshi Ishizawa, aka the guy who made the battle systems in the likes of DMC4, MvC3 and CvS2 so much fun. He's been the Battle System Planner in a lot of these games.

I hope this is an indication of them reviving the series. After Bayonetta 2, the action game genre is looking mighty bare for the foreseeable future. No new Ninja Gaiden announced, no DMC announced, no experimental action games announced, etc...

It's among the best in its genre with the best combat mechanics. The depth is unparalleled.
It's just what he goes by. A lot of Japanese developers used to have nicknames like that.
You owe it to yourself to pick it up.
Combat is out of this world.
Story progression sucks because it was rushed, but the combo of Dante and Nero is probably the best gameplay ever created.

Definitely. While game development was rushed, the gameplay is ace and best in the series for me.
That's just another one of fun nicks that they had for staff, not unlike "Inafking" (Keiji Inafune) and "Yuukichan's Papa" (Manami Matsumae, Yoshihiro Sakaguchi and some others) on the Mega Man side.
