I didn't know this was a thing till my coworkers told me a couple days ago. Or, wait, it was yesterday I think. I guess they get free meals at Applebee's and Olive Garden? They were saying they might go a few places and that some people will go to like ten places.

Free meal at Denny's

Makes me wonder how many "stolen valor" videos are going to be created tomorrow.
You gotta have that military ID. No sane servicemember is gonna wear their uniform out in public tomorrow except maybe some dumbass private in the marines/army.

Me and a friend are hitting up a few places and seeing a movie.

Free grand slam at dennies, free pancakes at ihop. Bob Evans also has a selection menu. Little Caesars will have free lunch combo.

Chili's, Applebee's, Golden Corral, Olive, Red Lobster, Red Robin, all free meals.

Also free oil change at meineke

The past few years I've done the Denny's breakfast and then Red Robin for dinner. The other deals don't really interest me that much. I might get that Starbucks coffee though.

I miss these fucking things, I wasn't even sure what was inside wild tiger was legit

A lot of the places I used to go to for today are only doing lunch, which sucks, I understand why, but it still sucks.

I always feel terrible going into Starbucks on Nov 11th to get a free coffee. I abuse free shit every other day of the year but on Veterans Day I feel like a bum.

Last year, I wanted to get some banana bread w/ the coffee and the guy behind me wanted to buy me whatever I wanted. I probably seemed ungrateful but I wouldn't let the guy pay for me. It didn't help everyone and their mom was looking at me while he went on an on.

Seems weird to get free shit on a day honoring people who have served in the US when you aren't one of the people who have served.

Honestly I never go to this stuff and keep the fact that I'm a veteran to myself irl. I don't feel comfortable telling strangers or asking for discounts and I don't think I deserve them. It's not like I wasn't paid.

I felt this way the same before. But the struggle comes first haha. I feel so weird asking for a discount

Whoa now. Active Duty != Veteran. What is this slippery slope. Next thing we'll be giving out mother's and father's day deals to expecting parents, when they could just turn around and get an abortion.

What does this country even stand for anymore.

Also, I'm hoping they honor veterans on all sides and not just the pampered American ones. Is there no dignity left in this world?

Can I get the deal if I served three tours in Call of Duty? I think I should. I gave up my damned life in Modern Warfare 1.

......huh dude

I'm sorry to be totally dumb here, but I don't understand how that relates to this topic about vets getting free stuff on veteran's day.

Because some places are offering things for free to everyone on veteran day and not only to just veteran's like it should be. Because corporate America has a hard time saying no to a customer. It undermines the whole point of it.

Got hooked up with a fat 10% off at Baskin Robbins. My kids' clown cones have never tasted so good. 🇺🇸

Near a military base all it usually takes is a usaa card.

Oh, I see. Which places are offering things for free to people other than vets, though? I hadn't heard of that.

Went to Dennys for breakfast and Applebee's for dinner. Was nice but the long lines made it sort of of waste of time tbh. The day off is the real hero.

I know that Ihop and Starbucks where offering it to everyone. In years past i know its one of the worst days of the year to work in starbucks.

Ah, I see. I hadn't realized that. I guess both companies do free stuff for everyone at times during the year, so I don't see it as a big deal, though I'd prefer if it were vets and their families only on veteran's day. (I'm not a vet.)
