[VIDEO] Skater knocks down kid; kid's mom steps in and punches him

That's not what happened in this video, though. I'm 100% sure the kid was just running without paying attention to where he was going, like kids that age do, and his idiot mother wasn't keeping an eye on him to prevent exactly this kind of thing from occurring. The only way the skater was at fault is if you believe he is psychic.

Totally agree. It was an accident. Skater had no intention of knocking over and hurting the kid.

But then, these adults walking down the street, interacting with their phones and not looking where they're walking, almost knocking over my girls...? Again, totally unintentional and potentially another complete accident. It's the sheer thoughtlessness and almost ignorance of the offending adult that makes me so angry.

Look at how long it takes her to get there. You can hear her screaming at the skater long before she gets there. I'd guess she was 100 yards away, and just letting her kid run around in a space designated for people riding skateboards around. It's 100% her fault.

Ha this is unrelated, but I think you have a very bad sense of distance, especially if the mom was walking like that the whole time.

Well, I have a two year old who goes to playgrounds, and you bet your ass I'm not dozens of feet away from him, and when he gets hurt or knocked over by another kid (shit happens), I don't go marching up ready to throw down.

Well, I would be glued to a two year old, but the kid in the picture looks much older. Either way it doesn't matter in the context of this thread.

Part of me wants to say it was just motherly instinct that caused her to do it. But a punch is an insane reaction to this. Yelling is understandable though, everyone would get pissed if their kid was hurt in any way.

Dude can skate.

Mom's a bitch.

We're used to it.

Edit: kid was skateboarding too, he's running to his deck when he collides.

Doesn't look like a skate park to me, at least not explicitly. There are plenty of people just walking around too.

Edit: I made the original post assuming it wasn't a skate park since I didn't see anything too clear about that, I thought it was just a park/pathway the skater was using.

Seems like you've never been to a stake park then. Its clearly a skate park. You see rails and ramps behind him.

also, how the hell was that being video taped? another skater?
Serious?

I get PISSED when parents act like this. Lazy parenting. Apparently she wasn't too concerned because she took her sweet time to walk over.

Kudos to the skater for controlling his fall. Bummer for the kiddo, he was just running wild, having fun (like most kids do), and enjoying his bday. The mother is cunt though. Her friend/sister/etc sprung into action faster than her.

^ Then he would have been just as moronic as the mother. He showed self control and took the higher ground. Good for him.

Seems as though the mother has the bullshit mentality of "My kid is never in the wrong". Yeah if I had a kid and it got hurt I'd be pissed, but I'd like to think that my first reaction would be to tend to the kid, not try to initiate a fight.

She doesn't even seem to realise that kids of that age tend to run and not look where they are going. I see it all the damn time, little kid is sprinting right for my legs, looking in the complete opposite direction. Always have to stop suddenly because if I touch the kid at all, i'll get the blame. Whenever I'm in that situation a small part of me thinks "Just sweep the leg, parents aren't even looking".

I watched it again a few more times, that mom is yelling at that woman who picked up the kid "Rita, punch his face! Rita, punch his face"! Geezus.

It doesn't look like a skatepark to be honest, which would explain why there are so many bystanders there and trees and stuff.

Very rare that a video like this is 100% one person's fault but.... wow yea.

As others said the skater is in a skate park it seems. The kid is perhaps also skating but his mum is really far away. When the kid gets knocked down the mum leisurely walks over, doesn't bother checking on the kid and just immediately gets physical.

I honestly hope he presses charges.

I think it's a little unfair to pile on the mother for not being near her son, it's clear that the other woman, Rita (I think that's the name I heard shouted) was the one who supposed to watching out for the boy and this is made clear by how quickly she's on the scene and comforting the child.

Doesn't excuse the mothers action in hitting the skateboarder though, but focusing so heavily on where the mother was feels a little strange to me when it's clear there was more than one person watching/looking after the boy.

If anything, I'd say Rita is the one who failed in her responsibility to ensure the boy didn't run into an active skateboarder path.

shoulda brained her with his skateboard. Unfortunate that the kid got knocked over and cried, but he guy was immediately remoseful/guilty and the kid wasn't seriously hurt. Falling down is just part of being a kid, it wasn't malicious and his mum is a stupid bitch.

.

I've only been to one, and it mainly had those curved ramps. And no trees. Or Gazebos.

And yeah, now that I watch again it's clearly another skater, but I wasn't paying attention to that the first few times, gimme a break.

Oh she clocked him. The thud was pretty solid, had a clear, nice sound to it.

Actually it was more like a thwack or a bonk.

Seriously though, this was an unintended accident, lady needs to calm down a notch before throwing down fists.

Yikes.

I don't know. Unless we get more back story and see the 20 minutes preceding and following the event can we really say anyone is at fault or behaving inappropriately? If there is anything I've learned from GAF this week it's that we need the the total and unabridged history before we can render judgement.

That is the real issue. One day she is going to hit someone who has no self control and she might not walk away from it.

It's also a great example she's setting for her kid. Mommy assaulting some guy on his birthday who just happened to accidentally run into him. Bravo mom.

The best part of the video is right after the woman punches him he goes "What the fuuuuu" and it cuts out. After angrily watching the video 5 times or so I realized how funny it was.

Lady is a huge bitch, really wonder what happened afterwards.

Did I say he should?

One day someone is going to retaliate though if she keeps it up.

Combined with all the quoting and TD's post I felt like it was kind of implied that it'd be alright with you if someone did, I was just curious what you thought would happen. Personally I wouldn't answer violence with violence unless I felt like my life was in danger or something.

At this point I wish someone would get the cops involved before it gets to that point. She needs some anger management.

I hate parents like that! All the time at supermarkets and whatnot kids just running around parents not minding them. If anything there might have been a little guilt mixed in with all that anger in that punch.

That was a straight up accident too.

Edit: also, in the comments section someone pointed out that this happened at a skate park.

This. The amount of times I've turned down an aisle and collided with a runaway child. Luckily I've only ever encountered reasonable parents apologising for them as opposed to flying into a rage at me.

One time a girl flew at me with what I thought was supernatural speed. She was wearing those stupid shoes with wheels on the soles (not rollerskates, just shoes with wheels). Just speeding around Teso. Stupid.
