Videogames are really starting to trigger some kind of serious OCD in me lately

Not sure what you mean exactly.
When you don't play your game, do you overthink to what to do in the game prior playing it?

Tell me if those images triggers the same emotion?

It can be a coping mechanism that you developped following something important in your life; did you change job, boy/girlfriend recently? Or it can be something from your past that starting to getting out. In any case, I think it would be great if you can talk to an health professional just to clear some stuff out of the way. For all it worth, it might be midlife crisis and the way you cope that is being OCD in your games. Just being aware of it, it's great, no worries, there are fix for that.

No, i don't really think about it before playing.

The article implies these pictures are a trigger for "perfectionists" as in they are "imperfect" or close to perfect but something is off. But to be fair, that's not the case with most pictures where something has gone woefully wrong, like there's no way anyone would accept these outcomes, OCD or not. But yeah, i don't think the rest of them are any more or less annoying for me compared to most people. I have seen this being almost a meme in certain social media sites so it must be popular (by popular i mean it annoys a lot of people).

I have some similar imperfections in my own house and furniture and it's annoying when i think about it (i was even angry at first) but i got used to them.

It's effective, believe me, don't be ashamed of your quirks, release them on games, it's okay.

Just as long as there aren't multiple endings that get triggered by you finding some secret item hidden in a wall somewhere, I'm fine. I',m starting to hate games with multiple endings. You didn't search some random bush 3 hours into the game? Here, your 50 hours of play get rewarded with a bad ending.

I used to be like this but I got this out of my system after the ass creed 2 trilogy games. It’s just busy work and rarely rewarding. If there is something good to gain from knocking the icons off the map ill do it.

It's near perfect. Super relaxing.
And you get that instant gratification of completing piece by piece. You see a progress bar/percentage go up. It checks off almost all my OCD boxes, lol. For me it really is OCD though (diagnosed) so a game like this that also is easy to put down, because you can just pick up where you left off, knowing you just completed a different item. It’s easy to both visually see what needs to be done, as well as looking at the list. Just the perfect game for me. I’ve supported the dev by purchasing all the available DLC as well.

The older I get, the less I care about completion. I will explore as long as I have fun but I feel less guilt when skipping content and collectibles. There are too many games and not enough time. I just make sure to enjoy what I can and not stress about it.

Thing is, i'm playing Bioshock "the wrong way" as i'm doing this.

It's a game with a persistent word, meaning every corpse or item stays where it's dropped, even after you reload the levels. And because you can backtrack to do other stuff like farming all the little sisters, these items are supposed to be there for later picking if needed. It's an actual design choice. By clearing everything i can for no reason i'm actually making the game harder for myself later on.

Though it's not a hard game at all so... yeah. Just saying.
