Vince Zampella, video game developer behind ‘Call of Duty' franchise, killed in crash

Horrible shocking news.

Although it is hard to escape the conclusion that he probably got a huge bonus for battlefield six, blew it on an insane sports car, and was being wreckless with it.

It breaks my heart that it had to be this way, this young, and someone who, by all accounts, was such a nice person. You will be very much missed, Vince. Rest in peace and THANK YOU.

Poor guy, rip...
I know he's the "COD" guy and now Battlefield but I'll always have the fondest memories from Medal of Honor Allied Assault which he had a big part in creating.

Hes an automotive enthusiast. So in willing to bet it wasnt a civic.
So sad. Man is a gaming legend
If so then at least he went out while doing something he loved...

Too fast coming out of the tunnel. If that's a Ferrari 296 as reported, that's a mid engine RWD car, which is a layout that has a propensity for understeer when you don't have power on. He tried to reduce speed but was already in the corner and understeered off the pavement into the barrier.

Very unfortunate.

Another video showing someone arriving at the scene:

Apparently this turn is a common site for accidents. Reminds me of a corner near where I used to live, where they only recently installed traffic lights to curb the problem.

Ran out of talent which is so easy to do in these rocket ships. It's insane how fast cars are now, and no manner of safety aids can save you from it going wrong at that speed. RIP

Holy shit that video is rough.

Cant believe the thing ignited, but looks like both werent gonna survive either way.
That car was basically ripped in two, seat belt, air bags or no.......nothing was saving the passenger and the driver..........

Horrible way to go, if its any consolation they likely didnt suffer.

The exit corner was probably difficult to gauge due to the tunnel. Mistakes happen, unfortunately it's very easy for mistakes to be fatal at speed in a supercar.

Huh? Im so shock. This is very sad. Vince is one or the true pillar of BF series. Condolence to his family. May he rest in peace. God bless his soul. Amen.

Seems quite similar to the Jota situation earlier this year. If you want to drive fast, do it on the track or in a racing simulator. Public roads don't have the safety features of tracks like runoff areas, techpro barriers, etc.

Just a sad and unnecessary death.

Wow

I will never understand speeding. And speeding out of a tunnel into bright lights. Probably blinded himself. Cars are so fucking dangerous
I've definitely done this in half-life 2 speeding out of a tunnel. I can see him getting blinded and having no time to react. Don't speed kids. Especially if you're a guy who gets shit done and makes things people like.
