Vince Zampella, video game developer behind ‘Call of Duty' franchise, killed in crash

At what was probably the best moment of his career, this made me feel extremely sad. My condolences to the families of those involved in the accident.

R.I.P. He was a legend…

Ofc we shouldnt judge/assume, but being humans, im sure many of us thinking what im thinking.

Big loss for gaming industry nonetheless, guy was basically GOAT of fps genre, super sad loss, i know from moral standpoint every human life is precious, but logically thinking, his life was worth so much more compared to avg joe, yet he was taken from us way too early :(

The guy that filmed the video which is on Instagram said the passenger was ejected and was conscious and talking and later died I think from bleeding out as per his comments. He said his name was Zach.

And he did have his seatbelt on but the entire seat bucket was also ejected. They dragged him to safety away from the burning car, bucket and all.

Damn, this is sad news. The creator of modern shooters, Titanfall and the savior of Battlefield. Requiescat in pace. Thanks you for all the digital joy you provided to gamers everywhere
 
I'm fucking heartbroken but I can't help but feel an enormous sense of grief not only over the loss of Vince but for the future of battlefield and any FPS games this man may have touched in the future.

I feel like the entire FPS genre just suffered an enormous loss and the future of the genre will never be the same

I've seen people fuck up with cars of that configuration off the line. What he was doing in the tunnel on a narrow road...man. Unfortunate indeed.

Just take these cars to the track. LA has a bunch of tracks he could rent out for an entire week and burn through as many tires and brake pads as he could get his hands on.
 
Saw it on IGN - was a shock. Sucks, man.

Tomonobu Itagaki's departure was really rough for me personally, because his games were near to my heart. But it's hard not to know who Vince was if you're a gamer. He did a lot of great work. Just sucks.

Holy shit he has an amazing car collection, yet it's strange he could not handle his SF90 (it's not a 296), I suppose it was a (fatal) mistake.
As a car nut who loves driving, the video hits hard.

This is just silly, dude was going way too fast (easily done in a supercar) for the corner and understeered off the road, it's that simple.

yup, sadly he had a passenger.

but whenever I see someone recklessly driving and crashing, while no-one else got harmed, I say... good... because if they're dead or paralysed they can't drive recklessly anymore 🤷

reckless drivers dying is a net positive for society. they are a danger for innocent bystanders.

I also drive a fast car, but I think about the consequences. He paid the price for not thinking about them.

If you drive like that, you're done with your life. That's what I mean when I say it's like a planned suicide. It's the same as driving drunk.

Unbelievable, I am shocked. Incredibly sad considering the passenger as well, it sounds like he was speeding and lost control. Brutal news.

He did great things in the industry and changed the FPS landscape, he will be fondly remembered.

What would you think if he had crashed into a family car and killed the entire family?

If you own a supercar, rent a racing track and go there. I know middle-class people who have racing bikes and can afford to rent a racing track as a group.
