Vita "hacked," (PSP) homebrew on the way (not piracy)

But... isn't this exactly the same as 3DS allowing DS R4 cards

for some reason all 3ds and ds need is hardware solution for their hack like r4 cart that you have to buy, meanwhile every single game ever released on psp/vita is a potential exploit just waiting to be found. and you can do it without much cost other than buying the game with exploit.

they may function the same with only allowing legacy mode to work, but I just give the impression that vita is way more vulnerable than 3ds

I don't have a vita yet so is it possible when the next game exploit gets released to download that game onto ps3 and then transfer it to vita?
Only if the game isn't removed from the PSN store.

For example, MBA is on my PS3 ready to transfer but it won't because you have to sign into PSN where it checks if the game is removed/blacklisted.

That sucks, so you have to have a Vita when the game name is released or you're SOL?

That's best, yeah. Because once the game has been removed, then you can't grab it.

Do you have a PSP? Or media Go? You could buy it on there and then transfer it to your vita using open CMA. I think.

Won't work either I'm afraid.
Media Go will allow you only to download a PSP specific package and CMA has no way of recognizing it.

But, at the end, the result is that anyone that buy a 3DS now is able to buy a 15$ card and play any legacy game. Anyone that buy a Vita now (or have it but is not fast enought to download a specific game in the small timeframe between the exploit and the blacklist of the game) can't play any legacy game.

Anyone that missed out on previous exploits, a new one has been announced.
Information has already been made public so it's probably moments before it will be taken out from the store.

Game is Gravity Crash Portable

Cheaper than most of the recent games (sans that one PS mini). $10 isn't that bad for custom PSP firmware on Vita.

Two minis actually, cheaper than MH though.

Same cost as Super Collapse, but I'm not sure if this hack runs on that game or just VHBL.

Still not much if you want emu's and non psn store psp games. Game actually looks decent.

Bumping this for those who are interested. Gravity Crash Portable is still up. Unfortunately it's $9.99.

Awesome, thank you for the bump.

I already had Mad Blocker Alpha but got this because MBA is a POS and it's icon is ugly as sin. Looking forward to using this exploit so I can delete that ugly Mad Blocker Alpha app completely.

Alright!! Downloaded the game earlier today, missed the first two.
Can't wait for the homebrew, finally get to finish up Star Ocean 1&2 on DAT OLED!

I just had a look on PSN for it then. All I get in my search results is Gravity Crash on the PSP. Is Gravity Crash Portable different?

I'm waiting until after Christmas to buy a Vita. Also, I don't use my PS3 very often so I'm a bit clueless how this stuff works. Could I buy this game and download it to the PS3, and then install it to my Vita via the PS3?

No, once the game is removed from the store, your PS3 will know to not transfer the game anymore.

Does the exploit work on the latest firmware? After using the exploit, will a forced firmware upgrade to play a new game make the old exploit unusable?

I assume the Vita pretty much needs to stay offline if you decide to CFW it (unless you want to apply the CFW again after the next fw upgrade, which you might need a new game exploit for in this case) Thats how it is for basically every console.

I have the Urbanix exploit still running and I go on PSN all the time. It's just PSP stuff sandboxed off. A firmware update might make it stop working, but there hasn't been one yet.

Is there a version of GC in the Japanese store?

So they take off games from the store, but do not fix the holes those games were exploiting? Sounds.. reasonable.

They'll fix the games and put them back on the store. A firmware update may patch the hole in the system itself, but there has yet to be a firmware update for Vita doing that. Though, if you want to keep the exploit you probably shouldn't update to a new firmware until it's confirmed it doesn't break compatibility.

What apps are you guys using through CFW? Would love to hear how Gaffers extend the functionality of the Vita with that atm.

I only use it to play the rips of UMD collection.

Speaking of, I need to get my PSP-1000 off the shelf and open up Ys.

Noooooo hope it is still up by the time my Vita is updated to 1.81. Why couldn't this happen while I'm awake!

edit: YES! Grabbed it.

Really going to need a bigger memory card now for sure, I think 16GB would hold my entire PSP collection but I should probably get 32GB to be safe (want my PS1 games playable too, and then I'd have space for new PSV games that come out next year).

So.. before I get this... Is there a link on how to do this? And what can this do exactly? Just play emus? Also, what firmware? I'm on 1.81.

I'm just playing DBZ: Shin Budokai Another Road, which is a game I own on both UMD, and PSN but isn't officially playable on Vita.

Popstation doesn't work with this custom firmware. You can't play your own custom PS1 games.

Thats fine, I picked up most of the games I wanted when they were on sale earlier, I was just saying the bonus space to have them on the card would be nice (popstation sometime in the future would be great though).

Is there anyway we can update the first post to say what the current state of PSV homebrew/cfw is? Like can it play ps1 rips, psp rips, can it sync trophies, etc.?

It's just emulation in the PSP environment. There is no PSV homebrew per se, so what is there to add really?
