Vita "hacked," (PSP) homebrew on the way (not piracy)

I cant even get past 10 fucking minutes shakesfist.gif

im getting a c2-14399-6 error trying to dump the email db part

That happened to me as well (when trying to click the app.db link in the email, right?). I tried re-doing the writer.eml file a few times with no luck. I ended up redoing the email and that seemed to work. I could forward you the email that worked for me if you'd like to try. Just pm me.

EDIT:ty idk why it kept changing subject which just fubard everything

Seen a few mentions of Ape Quest working, that's free.

I've seen exactly the opposite! But then again, Freakler himself mentioned using Numblast when the very tutorial he himself posted says that it doesn't work...

Worth a try, I guess. I'm restoring a backup of my Vita right now. When it's done, I'll try it again with Ape Quest.

I still don't get it.

I don't understand why there isn't a decent comprehensive tutorial yet.

The Zett's tutorial is pretty comprehensive, I think.

I've only created a single working bubble so far: Final Fantasy I. I didn't customize it or anything, but it worked. I followed a simple guide written by someone in Spanish and it worked much better than any guide in English I've found so far. If you guys want, I could adapt it into English and update it with the most recent files and tools later today.

Anyone tried with Brandish? That's the first PSP game on my download list, and it's not very big.

Don't have all that many options, only have a few digital PSP games.

is there a firmware limit with vita update blocker? im trying on 3.35 and failing hard

Vita email app is the worst email app ever. Can't even follow the tutorials because it's opening a random email instead of the one I need it to. Makes no sense at all.

Well shit. I installed the whitelist hacks but never got around to testing them at the time. Now it wants me to update before I can transfer anything from my PS3 to the Vita. I don't suppose there's any way to test that the unlock is still there and that the measures I've taken to block the whitelist servers are working without updating, is there?

I have 3.36 on Numblast TN-V exploit.
Is it better idea to use this new Custom Bubble trick in order to play my PSP games on full VITA speed?

You have to click the stick. It isn't intuitive, I know.

I thought that only worked for games. I can't seem to get the fingers to show up? which stick?

I feel like the biggest idiot. I pressed the square to bring hte pointer up and I can click stuff now...

After some fighting I managed to use Zett's tutorial and got ARK on my PSTV. Everything appears to work.

Except, I used Gurumin as my base game. And Gurumin doesn't work on the PSTV. Think I need to do something with the PSPemu whitelist, pretty sure I saw something about before. Anyone have a link for that?

Edit: Did the PSP whitelist thing, Gurumin works but ARK still says the application can't be used with the system. Blah.

I also did it! Yay!

I had to use Midnight Club L.A. Remix (€13) as the base. I also had to use Vita Update Blocker to access the store and download it. Here are some useful tips:

- Run Vita Update Blocker, change the proxy settings, access the store and then (without closing the store's "sticker") turn off the proxy settings. With them on I could browse and buy on the store, but I couldn't download anything.

- Turn compression on in whichever program you're using to fake-sign the ARK ISO.

- The resulting EBOOT.PBP from the process of fake-signing the ARK ISO should go in a DIFFERENT folder from that of ARK's save (ARK_01234). I personally used Peace Walker's save to host that EBOOT.PBP.

- Consequently, when you are adding the bubble's information to your app.db, you should point to the location of ARK's EBOOT.PBP (which will be in another game's save folder) and NOT to ARK_01234.

Now I have to go to work, but then I'll try adding some PSP ISOS via FTP or PSP Filer ;)

I'm confused are these hack running on the PSP emulator the vita runs or are they running with the full power of the vita? I still have a psvita on like firmware 1.80 using Uno hack if they just running in the PSP sandbox so no reason for me to attempt anything.

Yeah, I'll just wait until they finally stop updating the firmware and get in on the hacks then. I buy games for mine regularly and don't want to be locked out of the store. It seems like too much trouble and risk for what you get out of it.

I mean emulators and psp games are great but i can do all of that on a portable android device

I WANT my vita to be the no nonsense all in one option but its just so much upkeep and losing psn isnt worth it

Eagerly await when the landscape changes though

So i finally got to end.
Error but dont wory thats ok and expected! (very very end of video)
Just take base game backup and import to vita.
wait wat base game backup wtf I never heard that
tumblr_inline_nuag2sK7bC1sxns77_500.gif

I shouldve known to do this.....homebrew/cfw101

Luckily, kind of I guess, I did every step like 6 times already so from scratch to finish should take about 15 minutes from here on out.

Wow the downside to having custom psp bubbles are that there's no psp emu options when holding the PS button. But I got it working by following the Zett tutorial.

Edit: Unless I did it wrong...crap.

Had the same thing. Not sure if there's a way around it other than using Ark.

All of these new tricks still lead to PSP-emulator-sandboxed goodies. Only Rejuvenate is native and opens up more vita power (though still sandboxed to an extent).

I totally get what you're saying, but you have to realize that things don't work the way you want them to work. Each firmware, security becomes tighter, not looser. Chances of the Vita being "blown wide open" dimish every time Sony releases a new firmware. That's exactly why everyone recommeds staying at as low a version as possible. Sure: someone may discover a flaw in the future OFW 5.55 and crack it open... but that's less likely every day.

That's exactly why everyone recommeds staying at as low a version as possible.

The problem with lower firmware are newer VITA games which require newer versions of FW. Basically, it is (still) not possible to do anyfirmware spoofing on Vita, which is problematic for newer titles.

Although, I will update to 3.52 as soon as these methods are proven as user-friendly.

When I go to copy the save + game, the save file is in Playstation and not PSP (Other) on content manager. Is that normal? Did I mess up?

Of course. That's the cat-and-mouse game hackers and Sony constantly play. If you want a Vita to play Vita games, you have to follow Sony's lead. If you want homebrew, you'll have to sacrifice the latest games and improvements the platform has to offer.

Did you have any luck? After I copy the backup I still have the error Zett gets at the end of the video.

I'm using LocoRoco as the base game.

I just sat down and getting ready to have another crack at this. Ill let you know if i get it but im starting over from scratch so even if i do get it, it probably wont help you.

fwiw using PIYOTAMA as base

Yeah I decided to start from scratch too, how do you get rid of the custom bubble? I've deleted the save file, but that leaves a blank bubble. I've tried removing the memory card and putting it back in later. Does that rebuild the database or do I have to go into recovery mode?

Yeah, I need to redo mine with a different base game since the one I picked isn't compatible with the PSTV, but I can't delete the bubble.

I'm so confused...haha. I got Ark installed using THIS tut and using Metal Slug XX as the base game. Ark boots up, so YAY!, I guess? Now I don't know how to transfer my PSP iso's and other homebrew to the system. I saw something about naming the file and extension all caps, throwing that into a .zip folder, and putting that into an existing save folder and transferring over via QCMA, but then I don't know what to do next, as the .zip files don't show up in Ark.

**WAIT! I think I got it. I zipped the files using 7zip, and changed compression to STORE. Also named the zup folder FILES.ZIP, not sure if that helped, but it showed up, and I can extract it to the Iso folder in Ark**

I did install the whitelist for Vita games on my PSTV and that works fine. But when I try to install it for the PSPemu, I can't get my custom bubbles to even launch.

I made sure to send the file "list_launch_vita.dat" to my PSTV to the directory "ur0:game/launch/list_launch_emu.dat" - Is this the correct way to install it or does the PSPemu list use a different file?

I made sure to test this custom bubble on my Vita and it works perfectly fine, so I just need to figure out how to whitelist the PSPemu games on my PSTV.

That's what I did and it worked for PSP games from PSN. I don't have a functional custom bubble yet, but the one I did do didn't do anything differently/worse than before I did that file.

So I've done the email hack to enable the bigger whitelist on my PSTV, but I'm not really interested in a lot of shenanigans to keep everything working. Can anyone give me an update on what, exactly, I would need to do to keep the whitelist hack in place? I've already blocked the two domains on my router but I'd prefer not to update just yet if it's got a chance of randomly resetting itself.

Let me recap it then.

Let's say that I want to play a PSP game that is not availabe on the PSN (and that I own on UMD). Having not the latest firmware update installed (so lower than 3.55), I can use the "email trick" to install that PSP ISO on my PS Vita (2000) and launch the game without any exploit, using the classic bubble.

Is it correct?
Thanks for help.

Now that I have my ARK bubble all set up and running, with all my PSP games installed (had to manually move them from a save file installed through QCMA...), I'm going to try to change its icon and background. Wish me luck! I hope I don't break anything...

Also, does anyone have any experience with PSX games on ARK and ONEMenu? I can run them just fine (without sound ATM), but I can't move them to PSP/GAME/, so they don't show up in the list of games. How could I fix this?

As far as I can tell, disabling automatic updates should be enough to keep your PSTV on 3.52. If you go the extra mile and block ports to stop it from connecting to PSN, better yet, but it shouldn't be needed. As long as you don't update, you'll be fine and the hack will always be there.

The process is a bit more involved than that... but basically, yes, that's the gist of it. You can either install one bubble per game (simpler but more tedious) or install ARK and launch them through it (just one bubble to rule them all, but a lot more room for error since not many games work as a base for it).

I got my ARK bubble working with Midnight Club L.A. Remix as base.
