Also, this is why we can't have nice things (re:hackers).
HAHAHAH like sony is giving us "nice things".....

But the issue isn't people voting with there dollars. Its with the hackers that are actively driving support away.
And if you want to talk about who's in the minority, I'm sure people that would spend 250 bucks + memory card in order to play NES games is probably a pretty big minority.
No it didnt which is why psp had great japanese supportBut the PSP didn't have "shit" hardware sales, and also you actually had to purchase a 'homebrew' cart for the DS, all you needed to hack your PSP was a tutorial off the net.
Ive seen many parents buying r4 cards for their kids. piracy on ds was pathetically easy and does not take a tech person to figure out. Lack of compelling software killed psp. Piracy was just a side reaction

The PSP died in the west because it had a lack of compelling software. Ever wonder why people create those "Japanese gaming is dead" threads but conveniently ignore Nintendo? It's because Nintendo is an anomaly - their games are universally loved and bought and played by many people that crosses borders and cultures. Their games are as Japanese as Italian cuisine is.

I ment using Content Manager to transfer the files to the Vita. Is that handled different when you take a backup of a PSP game? That's different. If it's running as a PSP app, then there is no difference from the existing HBL hack (Impact is even lesser).
The hack wouldnt be possible without the device (in this case, the Vita) in the first placeHAHAHAH like sony is giving us "nice things".....
Just buy a Japanese 3DS!
To be fair, Sony's marketing for the PSP was one of the worst campaigns I've ever seen for a video game platform. For a handheld device, all they ever marketed heavily were games from console franchises, and those titles are some of the worst selling for said franchises. Granted, you can attributed it to piracy, sure, but I'm sure the Vita is in the exact same hole as the Vita previous to this hack; all Sony is marketing are console experiences on a portable, and the mainstream does not seem to have any particular desire for that type of philosophy on a handheld.
Then why have devs said that people got scared off the PSP due to the mass piracy?

I'm not fluent in Japanese, so I'd be buying another piece of hardware for 5-10 games at max. I already own a western 3DS, and rarely use it so buying another one really isn't something I can see myself doing.
How can you kill something that is already dead?Vita dead

Looks like a bunch of claims with no grounds to me.
We'll see. I bet Sony will put "homebrew" via PS Mobile before "hackers" will.
Is this actually a good thing?
Yep, if only for the ability to enable the 333mHz.CFW made the PSP a better machine.
CFW made the PSP a better machine.
When the first PS2 emulator drops, it's time to buy a Vita.
I want to avoid calling you out specifically, but proclamations such as this need to disappear. I quoted you because you're not the first and certainly not the last to spout such nonsense.

The PSP is great. I love mine. I use it to play several RPGs and Ridge Racer when I find the time. The truth of the matter is that a large percentage of gamers in the west do not care about those products anymore. That is why the PSP died. Not hacks and not piracy. If that boring and useless statement meant anything then why the hell was the Playstation 1 & 2 and DS so popular? I can assure you that if a randomly chosen 10 gamers within a neighbourhood had those systems, at least half of them used pirated games. Even the Xbox was stupidly popular "in the west" yet there are tonnes of places detailing how to get homebrew running on the Xbox.
CFW made the PSP a better machine.
It wasn't dead, it was undead. How can you kill something that is already dead?
Holy cow, that was fast.
So, never?
Console iterations are the best sellers on PSP, and even some of the top selling 3DS games though, haha. In terms of Sony's marketing, that's obviously at fault to a degree. For Vita in particular, the US launch campaign was awful. Dudes walking around streets playing generic looking games running at 5fps ...
can it homebrew iOS games?
Vita dead
It works fine on Vita too actually. Just search for VHBL Vita on Youtube and you find many examples. And you use the Content Manager to transfer these files over.To my knowledge, the current PSP exploit on Vita cannot be run by a regular user because the PSP app can't be transferred over. It needs to be in bubble format, or I supposed some sort of backup format. There is no real threat there although the hackers continue to work on it to discover other holes.
I heard PS Mobile (beta) bypasses the CM checks by having the user/developer download the binaries via a URL. Perhaps this is the way to go. It will allow them to run a user-mode application with limited/standard I/O access. Then again, so can PS Mobile. A native app should run faster though.
This was enabled in OFW too.Yep, if only for the ability to enable the 333mHz.
If I were to guess it is somehow started with something to do with a ps1 transfer or a ps1 title.
Actually, this is the killer app Sony needed to push units in the western market. Expect software sales to take a nosedive though (as if they already weren't bad enough).
Looks like Vita software sales are doomed more than ever. Nobody that I knew owned legal psp games, people always asked me why I payed for mine.
It'd be only used for one game. I can understand the want for this, but the Vita has many more options compared to the 3DS in terms of homebrew and emulators.Virtual Boy emulator.
The 3DS is the only game device on the market with a built in 3D monitor. Plus, I am sure people would love to be able to turn off that Region lock.
CFW can force every game to run in 333MHz.This was enabled in OFW too.
