Vita PSN Game And Service Thread

Ah okay thanks guys, yeah I wasn't blown away by the demo.. full version is better? Seemed really chaotic and button mashy - was worried about my vita at the time. Also, I've never played a DW before either so don't think I knew what I was doing -it's being sold for pretty much nothing here sometimes (retail).

I picked up Hot Shots Golf today. I was going to get a $20 PSN card, and buy Persona 3 Portable, and FF Tactics, but decided to get an actual Vita game. HSG will be a great time killer tomorrow, while I am stuck waiting in the car for an hour.

Edit: Oh, I'm top of the page. Does that mean I recommend Mutant Blobs Attack?
Buy it!

Ohhhh...you didn't make a bad decision, yet. As long as you pick up P3P and FF tactics you will be ok.

Don't worry, I will. I already own P3P on UMD, though. Now I just want it on my Vita.
Played Tactics Ogre in the Spring, and now I am feeling another SRPG itch.

What (if any) PS Mobile games do you guys recommend? There's one that looks absolutely beautiful, but it's expensive (850円!) and I don't really know what it's all about.

UK gets another sale?

Fuck you, SCEA. Fuck you HARD.

well I think you are better off with SCEA

can't really speak for Europe but being in NZ we get more or less what they get

And we are still missing Retro City Rampage, Silent Hill Bom , Corpse party, all the y's games Xenogears, Chrono Cross and more

Great question - I'm also interested to hear about what hidden gems there might be. I went into that section when it first appeared, saw a game about rubbing girls' legs, laughed, and then left thinking I should wait for recommendations.

Vita is quickly becoming known for its poorly designed/disappointing demos of otherwise decent or good games.

The few demos I've played were good; Lumines, Silent Hill, Smart As... (other than the deletion fiasco), Unit 13. I think the only demo I tried that the full game was better than I expected was Resistance.

Yeah :S and quality demos help sell..

Off-topic but I was watching some tv today and they did this special news bit on new gaming stuff (can't remember the channel ..but remember telling my family to shush hah) and it revealed halo 4 which surprisingly looks quite good, nothing from nintendo iirc and then the Sony Wonderbook :/ Which actually impressed my sister and mum - nothing else.

Demos are entirely subjective and could be bad or good depending. I hated the Uncharted (PS3) demo, but tried the full game when I got it for $12 and liked it way more than the demo made me think I would. Burning Skies is another one like this. Hell, I played the RE6 demo on 360 and couldn't see anything but dark on my TV due to the extreme HDR lighting techniques, so much so that I cancelled my preorder. On a whim, I tried the PS3 demo and noticed the game was more than playable on my TV. And now a month later, I have over 75 hours clocked into that game.

Demos can be good or bad depending on the target audience and the section of the game chosen to represent the final product. The only place this isn't true and it's less subjective is in cases of games like Lumines where you know almost exactly what the full game is like based off a limited play experience. :)

Not targeted at you, just like to give my demo rant. :P

I think people recommend Aqua Kitty and Super Crate Box.

Do you want it to be?

no, it's where we both put each other on our recommended channels

that might be the most bizarre Internet colloquialism I've ever heard

Hmm Lumines demo was fine, I guess. Not much you can do to screw that up besides being too short (actually, I thought it was). Didn't play the others yet!

Two of the most lauded games among VitaGAF, however, UGA and GR had reprehensibly bad demos. I still haven't played their full versions (largely due to their demos), so I can't say for sure whether they're representative of their full versions, but based on consensus, I would have to think not.

Super crate box and sixty second shooter are great PSM titles

Edit: post above me it's because they are referred to by YouTube as channel boxes

Gravity Rush and Time Travelers both had awesome demos. Both convinced me to buy the games, although I'm waiting for price drops with both (they are insanely expensive in Japan).

Having never played a Lumines game and knowing it was sort of a music based Tetris, I just needed to play long enough to see how it worked and if I liked the controls. Bought it digitally during the $100 to get $20 promo last month.

As far as the UGA demo, I didn't play it long because I was in a Best Buy and those demo kiosks are not comfortable to me, so I got frustrated with it and walked away.

I tried GR in the same place, and I thought it was cool; I thought "if this is the demo, I'd probably like the full game, especially since everyone else loves it." But being a cheapass, it was forced to wait until a sale could be found. I got it for $12, so I'm pretty happy. ;)

Yeah I didn't really care much about the Lumines:ES demo, since I have played Lumines before (though not at length) and already knew I'd like it. Always planned to buy it and I did!

My concern is that it looks pretty repetitive, like SCB or something. MBA was cool while I was trying to 100% it, because I was exploring or finding the blob friends... the core gameplay on WVA makes me think it'd be like SunFlowers to me, where I play it a bit and think it's fun, but never boot it up because I've played it enough that I got bored of the core mechanic.

Overall score was 80/100.

I agree. I played it for an hour or so and It's a good game but it's just a little too repetitive for me to invest more time in it. At least it was cheap.

Lumines is a great game yes, definitely one for the collection. Also yep, I understand corrosivefrost. I guess they are a bit risky for the devs sometimes as well as time-consuming but with some effort should pay off if the game is good..

Also to the person asking about NFS:MW online, it hasn't taken me longer then 10-15 seconds at most to find the other 3 people which is a nice relief (I'm in UK, not sure if it makes a difference). Shame you get occasional noobs who don't follow objectives/don't know what they're doing and no voice chat so you can't really explain it to them. Great fun when you have some decent players but I'm hoping to play some more gaf games with party chat soon..so far I've put in a lot of time in sp - it's still nice as it shows you times for all your friends and scores, distances, speed camera speeds etc even in sp when connected (and the top scores when disconnected) so stills feels competitive when not online.

Oh, I stopped at 65k.

Aha I thought you had gotten fed up and got the bot to work on those clicks. 65K should be plenty... is it timed? Or are they giving it away like golden clicks - maybe you'll get a notification saying you won later :S

Ah it's 20 million total? Think it was 2 million when I was doing it.. lotta clicks.

so 65-66K is about 0.3%, not terrible odds..

Well I got selected on the spot. Although I'm starting to wonder, the rules say I would have to answer the usual arithmetic question, but I haven't heard anything about that since giving them my shipping info...

Ah yeah, hmm well I'd think it should be ok if they asked for shipping, must have just skipped a step I'd think..you know what popups are like..

I'm assuming they're just ensuring that my address and such are valid before officially offering me the prize. And by that I mean, they'll have me to do the math problem, and THEN I'll have officially "won" it.

Probably.

- loot the land
-super crate box
-rebel

"Panic! Alien Slime Monster" is out next week and looks really good.

Yeah. They sold really well in Europe. Seen to remember some UK schools started using Invizimals as a teaching aid.

I guess part of why they sold well (was like 2+ millions iirc)is that the games required the PSP camera,so it was kinda hard for people to pirate them like other PSP games.

huh :/

smh@Yoshida.

Edit:it's not by Bend..ok..still stupid.

UK Games chart for last week - I'm guessing vita beat pc on nfsmw due to pc being mostly digital these days..? Neverknow how many are buying from PSN in UK..

AC didn't do too badly on retail. At least some people managed to find vita games in-store. Lets see if it lasts till next week, so far Gravity Rush and MGS:HD Collection made it for a week and back out again.

Does retail include amazon?

UK know their stuff at least: (from previous week's)

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (15+) Xbox 360 (80) PS3 (12)
