Any more news on the state of the Vita version of Lego LOTR?

Not really. I'm picking up my copy tomorrow morning, or maybe even tonight if I can't sleep. I'll be posting screen shots both here and in the OT.

Top of the Page: Buy Assassin's Creed 3: Liberation! Should western developers that Vita is a viable platform for original, AAA, games!

Relinking the videos for new page:

Cruising around the city, doing some races (and losing horribly): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B9QEKIN1CRY
Tackling the #10 in the Most Wanted list: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZrfrRbJZpV0

Thank a lot for the footage

It looks quite impressive, I will buy this for sure

Did you noticed if there are races where the streets are wet? it looks really good on the ps3 version but I haven't seen any footage of that for vita

Mmh, didn't encounter any rain yet. I haven't played for too long yet, though.

Ah okay, i see. So, does it control well and "feel" good?

Definitely.

Definitely.

Thanks for the videos! From the second one, it looks like day-night cycles are in? Looks like a different time of day. That's one thing I was worried they may not have (of course, I didnt't know for sure that day-night cycles were IN this game, but they were in Burnout Paradise and it's so similar that I assumed they were).

Yes, they're in.

Can you use the D-pad and X to control and accelerate?

I don't think so, didn't see a control option when I skimmed through the menus.

That's great to hear :) Anything you don't like about the game?

Thanks for the impressions and video, by the way <3

I liked Paradise City more than Fairhaven, it was more interesting to me as a location. In general, this feels like the little brother of Burnout Paradise; it does pretty much the same things, but Paradise does all of them just a little bit better. Not to say this isn't an awesome game, though.

I'm happy that all you guys appreciate my footage :)

Thanks for the footage, Foshy. I'm picking up a Vita bundle tomorrow, and as a huge Burnout Paradise fan, I think I'm gonna have to bite on the Vita version first.

@Foshy just waiting on my slow ass connection to load them all fully so I can watch them in one go before boardwalk empire.. thanks again for getting them up!

Someone asked about the rainy effect (reflections in puddles on the ground) and I am not sure but I do remember hearing somebody say they won't be in the Vita version of the game..

I'm not sure the racing style will be exactly like Ridge Racer, kuroshiki but I did hear they have a drift button and the driving looks decent to me.

I'm not personally too worried about native res or the traffic of cars. I hope the city is a lot of fun though and it isn't missing much else. True the reflections look fantastic in the console/pc version but to have it in my hands, I'll have to do without.. Strange the pocketgamer review mentioned no dirt or gates though :S

Seems to be enough traffic by the look of the second video as well..And maybe it will take a while to appreciate the map? BP took a while to get used to for me, as well as to find the cooler locations...

The effect looks fantastic in the other versions...would have been nice. Hopefully will forget about it when we play :)

I wonder how easy/slow it is to look in rear view? As in to look behind you...I imagine with the huge environments it will be quite slow..Damn I can't wait to get this in my hands, need this on vita.

I'm sure there will be fantastic places to drive.. they said NFSMW will have even more jumps and twists and environmental stuff then BP in one of their interviews but I haven't seen too much yet...worried about this "BP's little brother" description but hopefully won't be the case...

No gates just seems like such an odd omission, and you'd they would have said that they weren't there when they said that it's essentially the whole game except a couple of events and 4 players instead of 8. The gates are kind of a big thing for me; I loved smashing all of them in Burnout Paradise. It seems like it wouldn't have been hard to put those in.

^ yep :S that's why I'm finding it hard to believe...they were fun and a pretty small addition I would have thought.. who knows :S Going to rewatch these videos a whole bunch of times tonight after boardwalk empire, thanks again foshy, have fun as well!

gates are in

^ Traffic looks decent tbh, check out foshy's videos - they get toned down automatically in races in all versions but check out just the cruising video (number 2). Curious about framerate myself...looked pretty solid from video but hard to tell. I think foshy said it was good.

gates are in

^ knew it. Stupid pocketgamer review tbh.

pocket gamer review said:
The Vita version is extremely similar, don't get me wrong. The same route taken through the same city, with the same cars being chased by the same cops. But a few elements got lost in translation. There aren't enough cars on the road to cause gridlock, for example, and the graphics have been scaled down so there are no gates and no dirt.

And if he is finding it hard to see what is coming up on the small screen in this, I can't imagine he did much better to manage it in wipeout.

scroll down, there is a screenshot that shows that gates are in there

Nice find!

That shot is like twice the size of my vita screen - did they upscale it? - I'm sure it will look a lot better on the vita! even native res screenshots look better on vita

..seems like there is dirt too...but yeah still haven't seen it flicking off the ground... Maybe the number of gates/dirt is toned down for the vita version and the reviewer just said it wasn't there...anyway who knows, looks like we'll have to wait for more in-depth reviews...least we have more videos for now :)

Kiraly - less traffic (still decent imo). 4 players online instead of 8. Ground water reflections are missing I think and a few of the longer races were omitted I heard. Otherwise same map, same cars same game etc.

It's amazing how much better the car models seem to look then those screens I posted earlier. What were they even playing?

The iOS version has a different HUD, IIRC.

I feel like I'll get a better deal on Black Friday or should I wait for RO price drop?

I did get NFS:MW for 30 dollars....

Vita has a lot of games now

If you're trying to get the most out of your money, then just wait and see what Black Friday brings. We won't judge you
too harshly =P
for it.

Oh snap, MW is looking damn nice. Biggest concern was the frame rate, which judging from those vids, is solid enough for me. Man they really need to space out some of these games. Hell I'm almost glad EU ain't getting RO, P4G Or that 999 seagull in such a quick succession!

AC:L & MW ... feels gangsta. (Also hoping for RCR this month!)

Definitely ACL for me on Wednesday but i'll be at the girlfriend's on Friday when NFS comes out. When i get back i might as well wait for my birthday to get it. So i'll get that one on the 16th or 17th :)

my obsessive final fantasy xii replay, combined with my 'game monogamy' lifestyle, has pretty much guaranteed me one of the nicest vita mini-backlogs (sh:bom, vlr, ro) i ever could've wanted :) ...

but i just gotta finish with this damn game before p4:g hits...

OK guys, I need some help making a decision.

So recently, in the last few months, I bought a PSP and about a dozen games for it. Most of the games were under $10 each. I also bought a few games digitally. I have played through a bit of Vice city stories, and Persona 3 Portable and my digital copy of burnout. I just booted up Parasite Eve The Last Birthday thanks to the storm knocking power in and out in Massachusetts. Just the right kind of dumb japanese gaming I like (voice acting, crazy story line, weird characters). And it have some great music and amazing graphics for the PSP.

Yesterday I got in on the Target deal for the 3G vita with the 8GB memory card, it came out to about $195 after shipping.

After reading up a bit, it looks like I would be crazy to not go with at least a 16GB card, so the 8Gb card would be useless to me. Now tomorrow the AC Liberation bundle comes out with the awesome white Vita and what looks to be a good side story for AC3.

The big thing that was putting me off from the Vita was the poor battery life. About 4ish hours playing Vita games. With a flight from Boston to Tokyo coming up that didn't sound acceptable. Since then I have found a few different portable battery options that should help me get 8ish hours of total gaming.

For the October promo on PSN I have purchased Sound Shapes and Retro City Rampage. I think if I went the Vita route I would also want to pick up Uncharted, Gravity Rush, and a third game with the Target buy 2 get 1 sale.

So do you think I should stick with the PSP3000 and the bunch of games I haven't gotten to or just go right to the vita and sell off the PSP?

Yesterday, I decided to go ahead and purchase Tales from Space: Mutant Blobs Attack to keep me busy while I endure the hurricane that's bearing down on my area. It's a great game!

So is the Vita version of Most Wanted similar enough that I won't need to get the console version? As long as I don't feel like I'm missing out, I rather have it portable.

Liberation is definitely on my list.

I remember your original thread where you made the decision, and honestly I would suggest keeping the PSP and skipping the Vita for now. There are so many great games for PSP that you haven't played and are in the process of playing, and the games are so goddamn cheap now it's ridiculous. Not to mention that if you get Custom Firmware on your PSP and buy a big memory card for it you can have all of those games with you at all times, which is awesome.

Go to the Vita, you won't regret it. PSP digital games, except for Square-Enix titles, receive great discounts a few times every year. So you could always come back to those great games, like P3P, later on with your Vita.
