Unit 13 suffered from me trying out the demo right after beating Uncharted, haha. I've said it before, but any TPS on Vita going forward is going to be a hard sell for me if it doesn't have analog + tilt aiming.
Every game that has some form of aiming should use both the analog and gyro. The majority of aiming with the analog and fine tuning with the gyro is the best way. Loved it in Gravity Rush and Uncharted. They can make gyro optional and have the ability to turn it off if people don't like it, but it should still be there. I remember really liking it in Killzone 3 when using the sniper on PS3, but it's even better on Vita
Quick question for the people in this thread.
Did you chose the Vita over the 3DS? If so why?
Just curious as I am tempted by the $145 3DS target has.
Longish post coming
For me it wasn't Vita or 3DS. I'm gonna have both, even if I don't have a 3DS yet. Personally I never buy another system until i've cleared the backlog on my existing ones. So i didn't even consider either Vita or 3DS until I was done with both my DS and PSP, and once I was done, I sold both. Then it was a case of picking a library and seeing what interests me more.
Even though I chose Vita, 3DS had in fact in terms of quantity, more titles that interest me. But they are titles that I'm semi interested in. I want to play the likes of KH3D, Paper Mario, Kid Icarus, OoT3D and a few other's. But while at the time i was interested in more 3DS titles, there was never that one game I really wanted, which the Vita did have. Everything I'd seen about Gravity Rush told me I had to have that game, and having finished it and all DLC, i can say it was worth it. Then there were the other games that I was kinda interested in like Uncharted, Assassin's Creed Liberation, New Little King Story, Persona 4 Golden and the like.
Also while 3DS has a far brighter fighter future than the Vita, there are some personal misgivings. With the exception of Zelda which I absolutely adore, I don't really like Nintendo's other franchises. Could never get into Mario at all bar the Paper spin offs. Their big games like Monster Hunter, Dragon Quest and Pokemon don't have a large appeal to me (well not anymore in PM and DQ's case). Also while in Japan it obilterates the Vita's Library, in terms of what is localised and currently out here at this very moment, I prefer the Vita's output. Saying that though, both platforms could use a lot more RPG's!
Then there's smaller reason's like the hardware. Enhanced PSP games are always useful, and I have a digital library of PSP/PS1 games to take into the Vita. Always found the PSP more comfortable to hold compared to DS, and I kind of assumed it would be the same for their successors. Never liked the flat corners which is why when I get a 3DS, it'll be an XL. While I'm not really a graphic whore, I do like bumps inbetween generations, and going from PSP->3DS isn't a massive jump. Vita PSN+ was also announced before I got the system.
But in the end all of that doesn't really matter, since it's not one or the other. It's simply one now, the other later. I'm enjoying my Vita at the moment, and I'm sure I'll enjoy the 3DS when I get it as well. It may be a while before I get it since I won't even consider it until I've caught up on my existing PSP games I have, and the Vita's library of games I'm quite interested in. But there are several games I want. Bravery Default in particular looks very appealing. Besides I need a 3DS to play 999, so I can play VLR!
So yeah 3DS is gonna get bought, even if I think I'll probably get a Wii U first. I doubt I'll get either until Christmas next year
