Vita PSN Game And Service Thread

Unit 13 suffered from me trying out the demo right after beating Uncharted, haha. I've said it before, but any TPS on Vita going forward is going to be a hard sell for me if it doesn't have analog + tilt aiming.

Every game that has some form of aiming should use both the analog and gyro. The majority of aiming with the analog and fine tuning with the gyro is the best way. Loved it in Gravity Rush and Uncharted. They can make gyro optional and have the ability to turn it off if people don't like it, but it should still be there. I remember really liking it in Killzone 3 when using the sniper on PS3, but it's even better on Vita

Quick question for the people in this thread.

Did you chose the Vita over the 3DS? If so why?

Just curious as I am tempted by the $145 3DS target has.

Longish post coming

For me it wasn't Vita or 3DS. I'm gonna have both, even if I don't have a 3DS yet. Personally I never buy another system until i've cleared the backlog on my existing ones. So i didn't even consider either Vita or 3DS until I was done with both my DS and PSP, and once I was done, I sold both. Then it was a case of picking a library and seeing what interests me more.

Even though I chose Vita, 3DS had in fact in terms of quantity, more titles that interest me. But they are titles that I'm semi interested in. I want to play the likes of KH3D, Paper Mario, Kid Icarus, OoT3D and a few other's. But while at the time i was interested in more 3DS titles, there was never that one game I really wanted, which the Vita did have. Everything I'd seen about Gravity Rush told me I had to have that game, and having finished it and all DLC, i can say it was worth it. Then there were the other games that I was kinda interested in like Uncharted, Assassin's Creed Liberation, New Little King Story, Persona 4 Golden and the like.

Also while 3DS has a far brighter fighter future than the Vita, there are some personal misgivings. With the exception of Zelda which I absolutely adore, I don't really like Nintendo's other franchises. Could never get into Mario at all bar the Paper spin offs. Their big games like Monster Hunter, Dragon Quest and Pokemon don't have a large appeal to me (well not anymore in PM and DQ's case). Also while in Japan it obilterates the Vita's Library, in terms of what is localised and currently out here at this very moment, I prefer the Vita's output. Saying that though, both platforms could use a lot more RPG's!

Then there's smaller reason's like the hardware. Enhanced PSP games are always useful, and I have a digital library of PSP/PS1 games to take into the Vita. Always found the PSP more comfortable to hold compared to DS, and I kind of assumed it would be the same for their successors. Never liked the flat corners which is why when I get a 3DS, it'll be an XL. While I'm not really a graphic whore, I do like bumps inbetween generations, and going from PSP->3DS isn't a massive jump. Vita PSN+ was also announced before I got the system.

But in the end all of that doesn't really matter, since it's not one or the other. It's simply one now, the other later. I'm enjoying my Vita at the moment, and I'm sure I'll enjoy the 3DS when I get it as well. It may be a while before I get it since I won't even consider it until I've caught up on my existing PSP games I have, and the Vita's library of games I'm quite interested in. But there are several games I want. Bravery Default in particular looks very appealing. Besides I need a 3DS to play 999, so I can play VLR!

So yeah 3DS is gonna get bought, even if I think I'll probably get a Wii U first. I doubt I'll get either until Christmas next year

Even as a fan of monster hunter, there is nothing announced MH-wise that makes the 3DS more attractive to me than the wii u. I'm also not particularly convinced that they won't Resident Evil up the MH franchise within two or three more iterations, though.

Yeah, if you like MH there's no real reason to buy a 3DS now. It's very clear they'll all get ported to a home console.

Update for the livetweet app. US here. Supposed to help app stability.

This probably fixes the issue people had with tweeting photos.

Saying that I'm kinda worried about VLR's sales here in the EU.

First of all it's a sequel to a game that never came out here. So the only people who played it were importers or pirates. These kind of people are ussually in the know, so they'll be aware the EU track doesn't have English voice, so they'll just probably import again. Who does that leave?

Some people might pick a game spontaneously. However VLR isn't the type of game people would do that on since it's fairly niche. No English VA would probably put off newcomers, but more importantly they'd then find out it was a sequel to a game that never even came out here, which would put a lot of people off.

I hope I'm wrong, but I just don't see it doing well at all in the EU. I haven't played 999, but when I do and if I like it, i plan on importing VLR as well

Mine arrives next week maybe. we can pop porings, vitabrostyle.

That makes me feel better :) I figure the online won't die off, I just want to be playing it already :\

Was just yelling at people from UPS on the phone, they're trying to tell me I can't call the center in Memphis to get them to verify my package is actually there. Is it so backwards now that you can't just call these box handlers to see if it's there? Ugh -_- It figures, we never lost power, my area was basically unscathed and yet UPS has their collective heads up their asses when it comes to a package that weighs less than a pound. I hope mine isn't in a bubble wrap envelope like others are saying their's was....

just put in a good hour of Most Wanted and I'm really enjoying this game. Looks like there's quite a good bit to do and mindless driving. Multi-player was blast too. Those review sites marking it down because of the "graphics not as good as its big brother" need to shake their head in shame. If this was on any other "hand held" device it would be praised.

is there a list of all the games that support custom soundtracks? psx games don't seem to which is a shame, hopefully they can patch that in.

Yeaup just tweeted a photo to test. Looks that what the fix was for.

I support this URL. A site where the vitabros review their Vita games, which would get there their metabro score which would be free from Dorito popes and gaming sites funded by MS.

I don't support using godaddy however since they were a supporter of SOPA.

Vita Plus news are coming next week in Europe..

damn I hope it is worth it..

Two pages later, this post is still getting replied to.

Most Vita owners sure are desperate to defend their purchase, eh? ;)

Just teasing obviously

Anyway, the cool kids are the ones who have both. $145 is an okay price, but I would wait for a sale on the XL, I'm sure there'll be a deal or two on black friday.

Sat on a train at the minute. Been playing some ACL. Really great game :) it looks great on Vita too.

Played some more sixty second shooter, too. Pretty addictive. Looks gorgeous and dead cheap. Definitely pick that one up if you're into twin stick shooters.

My water soaked vita came out of the rice working!

For mw or ac multi add me for this weekend -luchashaq

But seriously all this conspiracy theory freaking out like a spoiled child nonsense over reviews needs to stop. If you don't care about reviews great if you do great go cry in a review thread don't ruin this one with angry fanboy tears please.

You saying this sarcastically or did your Vita mysterious fall into a batch of rice?

Or I suppose you mean the Vita came in packaging which was wet?

Slight overreaction there champ.

Don't know if it was posted yet. but some update about Type-0

Will FF Type-0 be localized for North America and Europe? If so, when?

Due to market reasons, we are taking a clean slate in terms of our plans. We feel strongly about bringing this title to the fans in North America and Europe, so if an opportunity arises that can become a conclusive factor, we are prepared to go into consideration right away

Not sure what to think of Smart As...the demo was okay, it plays as it's supposed to for the most part and it looks pretty appealing for its kind. Though I can't help thinking wether it's necessary or wether it's worth the price. It feels like an exact repeat of all those brain training games that appeared on the DS way back then, the games are a nice distraction just like them too, the file of PSN version is really large (1,5 gb). I expected less for this game. The price is pretty high, while 20 pounds doesn't sound like much in comparison to say Ass Creed, there isn't much going on for it. Between 7-10 pounds would have been more fitting. It's like they're asking more for it because of the popular voice actor and because it looks a bit more flashy, is it worth all that I wonder?

I'm leaning more towards Silent Hill. I quite enjoyed the demo back then and it's only five pounds more than Smart As, while having a meaty game to it. It's also pretty unique for a SH game. Though I wonder if it stays interesting throughout.

Can I ask. If I recall, you weren't happy about Golden, saying it was somehow worse than the original. I've already played (and loved) the PS2 version, but how come it's not as good?

I should say that I only feel it's inferior because I loved the original game so much. Objectively, it's probably no worse, but I feel the new content (Most of which is completely irrelevant) somewhat dilutes the pacing, and pushes the atmosphere too far into the happy-go-lucky side of things. I made a more detailed post about my problems with it here:

Just playing NFS now, and really enjoying it. It really captures what was good about burnout paradise. I agree with that thing about crashing at 150mph not quite being crazy enough, but I guess I understand where they are coming from. This game isn't really about body panels falling off of your car.

They're talking about their biggest IP potentially needing some form of fan outreach to come over or something?

He says that like it's some new and risky IP. This will sell as a Vita title or simply a PSP game off PSN. The thing is they are squandering any hype and have simply lost the impact it would have had it been released in a timely manner.

I'm in the mindset that they should just re-do it for Vita/3DS and go retail plus DD. If they are scared of piracy then at least putting it on those platforms would lessen that possibility drastically.

Ah, sorry to hear that man :\ Newegg/UPS as well? Sigh, I'm just mad that it's basically nothing except those automated messages now. I just want something concrete, telling me that they're at least going to ship it soon.
Technically UPS. I pre-ordered it at a Gamestop I don't usually go to like a jackass and that store isn't opening even though everything else around it is open and bustling. I would normally tell them to piss off but it's the CE and I think it's too late to order that at the normal price...

Another update that really doesn't say much. Starting clean slate for market reasons? So does that mean they're going to be more careful and annoying about bringing their games over unless they're guaranteed to sell a lot? If so, fuck them. I've had it with their bullshit, being too quiet and unwilling about what fans really want, and focus on things no one is asking for.

I remember Square Enix hired big name actors and actresses for The Third Birthday's English version. As if anyone contemplating on playing a PSP-only quasi-sequel to a 10 year old IP in 2011 would care, lol.

have you been drinking to much XX today..?

Playing more AC:L today. Stabby McGee. So multiplayer in this is adhoc only then? I don't think i've unlocked it yet.

Good news though! I've been getting Ragnarok cards through Near, now I just need Ragnarok. Hurry up with my $20 Sony.

P.S. - I'm drunk on nyquil flu stuff today so forgive me in advance for any twansgressions I make.

No, he means that PSP is done in NA/EU for these kind of games and they are exploring other opportunities (port to another console) to bring the game here. It's not conclusive but at least there are intentions of doing that, it seems.

This is what pisses me off, it's like those days are long gone. Early 2011 was really great when they released The Third Birthday, Tactics Ogre and Lord of Arcana all around Feb. Those games are considered even less popular and more risky than FF Type-0. We're in this age where we're not even sure if stuff like Bravely Default, Valkyria Chronicles 3, Dragon Quest VII or FF Type-0 are coming. WTF?!

We are an endangered species huddling in dark corners clinging to Xseed. Once in a while we get visited by Atlus Claus and visits from crazy uncle NISA.

Don't get my hopes up on Type-0 :(

Ah I see. So basically it's not really an improvement and the added events are more superficial rather than containing any substance? It does seem that way from the brief trailers I've seen.

Still I've been wanting to replay it regardless, and choosing your skills when fusing alone makes it worth it!
