I guess I just don't fully understand what your problem is, because I'm one of those people who really have no interest in console ports and "console-like" games on handhelds. I prefer handheld-like games on handhelds, and if a game has great production values thanks to the Vita's horsepower, then it's -- by my definition -- a great game suited for the Vita.
Different strokes, I suppose.
EDIT: BTW, I didn't think you were being a dick

Heck, you're probably right about it being a tenuous argument. I guess due to my own personal biases, I just glossed over it more than I normally would.
I want to chime in on this debate. I share a vast agreeance with your main points about handheld experiences, suited for handheld platforms. Taking a game like 3DLand, which is available on 3DS stands out as not just a great handheld game, but as a great (stellat even) game because it was designed specifically for the hardware. I also would argue that Nintendo seems to understand building games for a handheld ecosystem, far better than Sony does.
Sony, however, did not build the Vita for pure handheld experiences. Sony built the Vita as a machine for enthusiasts, who want the home experience on the go. The Vita and its purpose is clear, judging from the already numerous Sony IP's we're seeing translated to the Vita, the crossplay/buy initiatives and their marketing taglines. There is room for Vita, it has appeal (maybe not as widestream as 3DS), but each machine and each machines purpose is so different, they really share little overlap.
When you experience games like Uncharted, Need For Speed, Assassins Creed and others, but in your own hands and with little distillation from the core concepts, that make these series' renowned, the experience really wows.
So, my real point boils down to reviews, though. These games are being compared to the larger
console experience, againstbthe entire series of the game iterations. The reviews dont take into consideration limitations and the accomplishment of or maximizing within those confines. Reviews used to be great, comparing to like series' or games, praising or critiqueing what made a translation and comparing to other games on the platform or comlarable platforms. Vita games are being comparsdto the larger, morepowerful consoles.
My larger question is: Why arent Vita games compared against 3DS, Ios and Android? These Vita games being slagged against a console makes no sense. There is nothing comparable to what Vita games have accomplished nywhdre elsd, on anything comparable and that makes these reviews a joke and out out of touch to me.
That Criterion, Ubisoft and others are being run over a grindstone is unfair. What is being accomplished should be lauded and noted, and there is room for improvement - the fact remains, even though Sony lauds the full console experience but anyone with half a brain understands the Vita is not a full console - it just isnt right to slag the games for that. Review the games for how well they translate, what works and what doesnt and how they compare to comparabke experiences on similar platforms elsewhere.
Tyoed on Vita sorry if kind of incoherent.
