Vita PSN Game And Service Thread

Yeah I mostly want it for 1st party offerings ... but considering the only one worth it for me would be NSMBU ... but I can wait for the whole system to go down in price.

I mainly ask since I want someone to register my NNID :p
I'll eventually get a Wii U (Once the library becomes competent).

I cancelled my Wii U preorder. Later down the line I have no doubt it'll be pretty sweet but would prefer to wait for the bugs to be ironed out and a bit of a bigger catalogue.

Seriously hyped for Rayman, Pikmin and Mario. The gamepad being playable without the TV is my main draw, but I know I should wait - will probably pick up in Feb or thereabouts.

I don't know the exact res but i was referring to the bubbles and the 'tear down' pages which are definitely sub native, either they should make them native res or revamp the UI so that it looks clean always.

I'm fairly sure both the tear down and the bubbles are native res, there is just no AA on them so there are jaggies. Should be resolved though I agree.

NSMBU looks great (particularly Challenge Mode) but it's still an NSMB title (albeit in HD) and, for me, those lack the inventiveness, charm and level design of the 3-D Mario platformers (Galaxy, Galaxy 2, 3D Land), the Mario & Luigi series and the Paper Mario titles. And I still have games in those superior series to complete still.

So semi-derivative NSMBU isn't enough of a hook for me. Couple that with substandard port jobs, otherwise lacklustre original third-party efforts and countless OS/Online bugs and I'm not in any hurry to take the plunge. I don't need the WiiU to satisfy my yearnings for top-tier Nintendo-developed properties... I have my 3DS for that.

And in the meantime, we have a TON of quality Vita titles to enjoy. Just finishing off PM: Sticker Star right now in time for P4G goodness tomorrow.

So good.

I feel for our Wii U brothers that will be shat on in every thread, I hope they can find a safehaven like we did in this thread.

And I think the UI is higher or native on that.

That's the thing, I can accept a game being non native if it's looking pretty. I can EVEN take a game not using AA, but not using native UIs is just annoying.

Yup. Gravity Rush is sub native res but looks wonderful, (don't think it has any AA or AF too)

But COD: vita looks absolutely terrible. I've seen better looking PSP games.

I went from playing COD to Gravity Rush and it was like I jumped to another generation of gaming.

I was done with the NSMB series after the first one and playing a bit of the Wii entry. I'm honestly tired of this trend in Mario game's as of late where they bring back element from earlier games and center the whole game around them. (See: The return of the Tanooki tail/suit and it being heavily feathured in the last few games). Hell, I didn't know they ripped things from World until this week with the star road/holding baby yoshi things. Whenever they get around to actually making something actually new ( like Sunshine/Galaxy), I'll be much more willing to hop onto another Mario game.

Not getting a WiiU means I bought a metric ton of Vita games/a few PS3 ones. No regrets.

Yeah makes sense. See the issue is that the last Mario I played was Mario 64 :p
So to get myself hyped for Wii U, I bought a Wii with SMG 1&2. I might actually go the 3DS route, instead of the Wii U route ... surely they will patch in NNID to 3DS?

Wow, people. What are you all smoking? :P

The UI is definitely native resolution, it's just that there is no AA so you see the stairlike effect on angular surfaces.

Mhmm. We really got jipped on that one. No matter how good Chronovolt is, it won't be better than Wipeout, FFT AND JSR.

Honestly, PS+ has been miles better at Europe than America. For the moment i won't complain. Uncharted and Gravity Rush alone will surely sell systems to Plusers on the fence about a vita.

Not sure why I'm so excited for Plus on Wednesday, but ooooh boy, I am!

I think it's just the prospect of FREE GAMES.
Same here! :D And all those games are my cup 'o tea, very excited.
Been very busy exploring my Vita this week, so good. Just started an old Mini (2D Octopus) and man does that look good, with bilinair on it's like a whole new game! Curious to see how PS1 classics look on that Oled.

And that free Montezuma Blitz game is strangely addicting.
Delicious touchscreens.

We'll be able to use the browser while playing games? SWEET! Will that also work while playing PSP and PS1 games?

It should do as it is now a "small app" rather than a large one, though saying that, you can't use the music player in PS1 and PSP games IIRC so it's possible you might not be able to.

You should be able to. After all, you exit the game in order to use it, so whether it's PSP/PS1/PSVita should have no impact on whether it works or not.

Nice to see that we'll be able to use the browser for trophy guides and game guides while playing without needing to exit the game or to have the computer next to the handheld.

Better browser and it can run in the background now? Can't wait for FW 2.0!

Does firmware release worldwide at the same time or is it staggered like store updates?

Also, I just had a thought - with all the Wii U threads at the moment, maybe we'll be spared a "Vita is doomed" thread for a while. Maybe.

Firmware goes live worldwide I think so just whenever they press the button.

And the WiiU seems to be having enough troubles of it's own so far, maybe the Vitabros can take a moment to wipe their bloodied noses and get any wounds treated.

-Folders
-No 'please wait' and 'signing in' signs
-Faster access to everything
-Youtube app integration with the browser
-Make buttons work with everything

The following are THE most important upgrades Sony needs to implement.
I just HATE that I see the "please wait" and "sign in" pop ups. I don't care if they need to do that, just do it in the background and don't notify the user.

Then you have the problem of a blank screen for a few seconds and people may think it has crashed.

I feel like Wii U has taken some of the heat off Vita.

The thing is, I bought a Wii U and love it too. Am I just attracted to fail or am I just not as nitpicky.

I guess you enjoy the games you like and don't get affected by random opinions like most of us.

Yep, people will be busy bashing the WiiU for some time. Which equally sucks though.

Wow been away for a bit. Great news about browser. Only one day until I can avenge my dead launch 60gig. Died oddly enough while playing persona 4.

Is it supposed to be good then, because I watched a trailer last week and it looks horrible.
Not many hopes either. I dont think anyone knows yet whether its actually good, though.
