Morning Vitabrocats.

Nice little update we got there huh!

Anyone who hasn't added me yet, I'm SirTodge on PSN. No idea how many free slots I have left.

That's likely why you'll see Inafune's mug on the official site. Inafune worked at Capcom for many years, and thus Sony would want to draw the Monster Hunter connection to onlookers.
AHh thats who it is...he does have quite a following I'd imagine. I just jumped on the monster hunter wagon with Unite..pretty cool - I expect more from that IP on vita.

SCE's head of first party software development, Shuhei Yoshida (who you can field pretty much any question to on Twitter @yosp) commented that it's pretty unlikely for Vita to get PS2 emulator support. The PS3 did only get that functionality earlier this year, and it's not a library wide feature, but something that has to be checked on a game to game basis. Sony did purchase Gaikai earlier this year, so game streaming of PS2 titles could be something they'll look into.
that is a pretty good assumption actually!

I don't believe OLED displays are supposed to suffer from ghosting. Or at least, it Vita's screen has some it's considerably less than what the LCD screens PSP, and 3DS used:
wow that is a drastic improvement.

Wake Up Club has become a sort of running joke in the Vita community. It was a app that has been fully released in English (!!) in the Asian markets for months now, but is stuck in Sony Europe, and America QA or something.
I am pretty sure I would use it hehe.

It's frustrating to see Vita lack some of the features that even the PSP has, but ultimately that platform's OS wasn't built in a day, or a year. My personal beef is with the lack of an RSS subscription feed on Vita. I used the PSP as a podcast machine, but haven't been able to do that with Vita due to a lack of RSS support. I'd love to have it auto download the latest release and listen to it while I play some games. I can listen to podcasts while playing games now, but that requires me to download the release via the Vita's web browser, or download it on my PC and transfer it over. Once again though, an RSS reader was actually one of the demo apps in the PlayStation Mobile SDK beta, so my complaints may soon be alleviated.

Yeah I guess we will see these features rolled out once the more important things are polished..especially since they already have experience developing it previously. I guess it is a bit foolish to expect old stuff to be implemented on a completely new OS right off the bat (programmers do hate reusing old code!) but I also feel angry (ok and a bit ignorant) comparing sony's software dev performance to my own small team who does things like RSS readers and web apps in very small amounts of time.

if I'm not mistaken it will be first PhyreEngine (Demons Souls/Dark Souls engine) game on Vita, will be interesting to see how the engine run on the system.

wow that is a drastic improvement.
.

Yeah, but after reading many WiiU hardware reviews and people saying that Gamepad screen is "awesome" and "super vivid" I think Sony should drop the Vita oled and go with cheap one to lower the costs/price in Vita revision since it look no one actually care.

Wake Up Club is a free app with trophies, many people would use it, haha.

It souled like a very neat app, I don't care about trophies trash but I will like to use it.

Vita need cool "app" like that, shame that PSM failed completely in delivering any.

Ooh sweet. Too bad You have to format the vita to sign in as your japanese psn alter ego :/
Also I bet even Dark Souls could run well on vita, but you would have to probably use a 1/4 of the viewing distance on it. And scale the textures down.

i BET wiiu uses an IPS panel from LG. Samsung Oleds have good viewing angles and im pretty sure they are cheaper than the LG stuff with similar 178 degree angles.

I hope not,dat OLED is awesome.

If the Wii-U threads were anything to go by, the Vita would be selling like hotcakes. It's astonishing how many people suddenly want console style games in a (semi) portable format!

First impressions for new FW are really good. The browser is way faster, and behaves like a normal browser now. I tried it with the full 'HD' Eurogamer.net site, and that loads like a champ. Zooming works as expected, which was really annoying (I do think disabling zoom is a new evil in mobile versions of sites though ...)

Tested some more sites (including corporate), and everything is pretty great. No Audio or Video support though, as expected. WebGL in HTML5 is reported as mostly working, but I can't find anything that does.

The email App is serviceable. Email is currently stripped of most formatting (no html stuff) but still looks good, and you can only set it to auto-get email at minimum 15 minute intervals. You can actually send a picture attachment.

I read that apparently screenshots are now instant, which is neat. Near's user interface has been overhauled, and seems better. I particularly like being able to manage per game if I want to have Near goods downloaded automatically. You could already choose the option automatically download the first time you get something for a new game/app in 1.8, but this is much better. You can also filter showing only goods for games you've played, which is a good idea.

Playstation Plus settings appear in the Settings app marked with the Plus icon. You can set separately if you want to automatically update to download updates for apps (and games), for system software, to sync trophy info, and upload saves to the online storage.

I don't know that I've seen the option to add twitter and facebook details in the Settings before. There are a lot of settings for notifications now - per app that supports notifications, you can choose 'show on screen', 'light up PS button' and 'Play Sound'. This includes emails but also, say, Trophies, Friend's requests, etc.

The screen lock with password is apparently new as well.

Most of these things have been posted here, just wanted to summarise what I came across.

Added! (rivi54)

Played the Rayman Origins Demo, loved that game on PS3 and it looked fantastic on my LED screen.
But Great Scott, this is magnificent.
Played the 3DS demo earlier, wasnt impressed, but now i'm seriously considering buying and playing the game again. It just play's and looks so incredibly well on the Vita :D

Super hyped for tommorow's batch of PS+ games btw!

Will have to accept tonight once I'm plugged into my 230 volts!

And yeah, Rayman looks stunning and plays brilliantly on the Vita. The screen and the d-pad make it a joy.

And I signed up for the PSM dev thing this morning, I have a very very very very tiny programming knowledge but it'll be fun to fiddle around.

Sent DBT85, Hanmik and Maxwood friend requests :)

If anyone wants to add me please feel free PSN: Sarquiss_

EDIT: Also added GillaTheGorilla :)
I'll try to add you guys in the thread during lunch but mine is StopItRAWR if people want to add me too.

I seem to have full access to Music Unlimited, and I can't work out why.

30 days trial probably. it's pretty neat, I can make playlist and made them available offline, when it finish download the song on vita, I can change to web browser and the song will still be playing.

it'd be better if it could stream music and web browsing at the same time, but music unlimited app cut off internet connection once you exit to homescreen I think, which is why I have to made the song available in offline mode first before I change app.

Euro vitagaf might be interested in T@G code, since I'm using a SCEA account, lol yurop, I'm giving it away, quote to reclaim. If reclaimed post something funny Persona 4 related =P

According to the PS+ thread the Music Unlimited 12 month offer is available in the EU as well for 12 euros. Anyone know the UK price? Won't be able to check the PS3 until later today.

Edit: Just checked on the Vita - £11.99 for PS+ members so £1 a month. Not bad at all.

B-b-b-bargain

Downloading update went smooth and fast. I have tried out the html5 test and its 5x higher than previously. Browser is a lot better, no more checkerboards, my GS2 does the job better but the gap has decreased significantly.

That Music Unlimited offer is pretty good - I'd definitely recommend trying it if you have a Vita, since it can synchronise songs offline, it means you can make custom soundtracks (for the games that don't block it) very easily :)

I read that it is possible to use music unlimited offline on specific devices, how does it work? Like ps+ with games?

You select the songs you would like to listen to offline and then it does some magic. THen you can set music unlimited to "offline mode" and you'll be able to listen to all of these songs.

You DO need to put it back into online mode every now and then so it can verify your licenses etc.

You add songs to your offline playlist, IIRC, and that's it.

You can play music from your offline playlist as custom bgm in games etc. aswell.

Console quality i can take with me in the house anytime. (Wiiu=awesome) (Vita= market dead, need more bite size) = head explodes popcorn flies everywhere.

You can play music from your offline playlist as custom bgm in games etc. aswell.

You can mark any of your playlists as 'Offline'. It will then (asynchronously) save those songs locally on your memory card, and then in Offline mode, play them during games, browsing, and without needing an internet connection.
