Vita PSN Game And Service Thread

It's a semi-sequel to the original. It has enough new content to make it worth the play, in my opinion. A lot of people hate the new art style, I love it (but I'm a sucker for animu stuff). The main problem the game has is the slowdown, but it's not too terrible - the game is still playable and it's still super fun. There's tons of stuff to do and unlock, and if you want to go for the platinum it's easily at least a 50-60 hour experience.

Once your royal guard gets above... 15ish people you start to notice slowdown. Honestly you don't really need more than that, but I like having a 30 person guard and I still play the game and enjoy it. The music and humor is still there, and the graphics are pretty nice.

I think it's a crime that there is slowdown in the game because if the slowdown wasn't there it'd easily be a must buy/killer app for the Vita, but considering how it can dip a lot sometimes I'd say you need to go into the game knowing what to expect with that.

If you're looking for a strategy RPG/sim/city builder of sorts, the game is great and worth playing but it definitely could've been much better with a locked framerate. I really love the game though, with how many games I have for the Vita (at least a dozen), it's hard for a game to keep my attention for so long but I'm going for the platinum in the game and loving every second of it.

If you absolutely can't stand a game with performance issues, I'd say be cautious. If you're willing to overlook the slowdown and enjoy the game for what it is, I couldn't recommend it any more than I already have. It'll be my first Vita platinum ;)

Sounds good. I'll get is as soon as I finish VLR and AC: Liberation. I don't really mind performance issues that much as long as it's playable. I went through SotC on PS2 perfectly happy!

I think I'd prefer the anime look as well. Besides I feel the need to play some kind of japanese quirkyness/RPG on my Vita which I haven't done yet :P

The Vita is a portable device btw....

Yeah, and? Still got to have the PS3 running in the house somewhere while you actually play on another device :P

Not saying people shouldnt like it :) Just saying it seems weird to me.

The PSP got more RAM with the newer iterations. Do you think the Vita would do the same?

Because I'd love it if it meant I could have two games open simultaneously

Buckled on Motorstorm and Hustle Kings.

Really impressed with both. Just need to fill up my leaderboards now. I noticed I don't have an online rank for levels, whereas eveyone around me does. Why is that? (In Motorstorm that is)

Motorstorm is a fantastic games. But it's insanely slow to update the world ranking.

Yeah, and? Still got to have the PS3 running in the house somewhere while you actually play on another device :P

I liken it to Remote Desktop Gateway in the Windows world. I would rather have the ability to hit those environments remotely than have to physically be in front of it. Those physical machines still need to be powered on.

I can be in Japan and play my home PS3 located in the US. I'm not sure where you are confused unless your Vita doesn't leave your house.

Oh yeah. It doesnt leave the house. But wait, you can turn ps3 on/off and play the games on the PS3 even if you are not at home?

Uninformed is me.

speaking of remote play .. as lovely as it would be to have DLNA support on the Vita, you can access the media server via remote play on the Vita (me think).

Was looking into this for the PS3, but I'm much more likely to play on the Vita. Nice.

I'm curious about that actually, especially with the touchscreen controls instead of motion or anologue sticks. Cheap too..nice - although the "moves:6" in the top left corner is a bit confusing
You need 6 PS Moves to complete that level.

I assume you need to move from one place to another in the smallest amount of moves possible? Like Cuboid (I think it's called).

so i am finally starting up persona 4
wLF2k.jpg

and also finally realizing that the screen shots that I have been looking at on the PC don't do the game justice on the vita screen. It's prettier than I was expecting from the videos/pictures I saw

I went straight to Journey. That game is perfect for remote play. I'm very surprised how unsupported this feature is.

This is kind of a fascinating feature to me. I just got a Vita, and happened to have ordered the Journey collection from Amazon. I may end up using Remote Play for this since my PS3 is downstairs and I tend to hang out upstairs. LOL @ using technology to accomplish more and more esoteric ends.

I'm quite interested in Pure Chess, any impressions?

The power of OLED :-o

lol.

Give me a sec.

It's incredible that Sony haven't found a better way of outputting screen shots from the Vita. Rip photo mode from Wipeout!

There you go:

Also, there arent many people playing it, so if you plan on buying send me a GAF PM with your PSN nick if you want someone to play with :) Still looking for players as well.

Thats a good start to work with. Still needs some more stuff though, cant see any information about Remote play for example.

Curses, I only want a PS3 for the quirky PSN releases that it gets, but can't justify the price yet.

I know, ironic that I was able to convince myself a Vita was worth it at only 20 dollars less. *lol*

That's more my want. At least every psn game should have remote play but who am I anyway.

Yes, you can be out of your house and turn your PS3 on when it is off through the Vita. You can do it over any Wifi connection anywhere in the world.

I tried that and the video is super choppy and laggy.

Ya, none of the other OT threads have it. This thread is about "Game and Services" maybe only those pieces should be in this FAQ post?

Definitely - though MGS and Persona 4 aren't native, they still looked great. Doesn't change the fact that I wish they were though (take a look at the Persona compendium models and weep).

k, so to use both my accounts I gotta have two mem cards right?
can I at least change my network id somehow? cause my secondary has a dumb name, like x'sUSacc or something

I am honestly surprised so many people like the feature. Having the PS3 running in the background while playing Vita seems a bit of a.. waste to me.

Great content? How so? Only played on PS3 for a short while and didnt feel it had "great" content. Considered rebuying though as it didnt seem like a bad game overall. (it wasnt crossbuy, right?)

I don't know if it has more content than the PS3 version, but for me as a pool fan, I think it's fantastic, and there's a lot to do (ie bunch of different game modes, a full career, online and local multiplayer, etc). I love it.

Killzone Mercenaries would be a good game to show off at the VGAs. That crowd likes Killzone, right?

That would be nice. They need to do a proper reveal soon anyways. We don't actually know anything about the game officially other than what the trailer showed. When is the VGAs?

Downloading Pure Chess now. :)

Uncharted takes the cake at RIDICULOUS jumps.

I love the ridiculous jumps in Uncharted. One of the trademark things about the series IMO.

By the way, i have Pure Chess and up for some message play. I think my list is full though :(

heres a general question - do you think game quality/features/support in all regards will be better for vita once the ps4 comes out? or itll stay where it is at ps3 level?

(makes no difference to me honestly - obviously an increase in anything is better, but i'd be fine with where it sits currently)

Well, then no message from me Carl! You full list guy.

The irony is that Sony basically pioneered this feature, and Nintendo is touting the same thing with the Wii U as it's biggest feature, the main difference is that Nintendo will more readily support it. Think about it - remote play is great if you want to keep playing but someone wants to use the TV. The Wii U is being heralded to do the same thing.

It's a great idea, but it hasn't been more readily supported. Hopefully with Sony's acquisition of Gaikai this means we'll get a more competent, more supported remote play but I doubt it.

sony has a history of having a good idea and not following through with it lol I mean just look at microsoft's version of eyetoy... sony failed to support that idea not once but twice before microsoft made it into a big seller.

Yeah they've always been there, but I don't recall them being quite so insane in 1/2/3.
They weren't.
But hey, Nate's jounger. He can jump further! :'D

Thanks Toma!, i'm convinced. Going to buy Pure Chess later this evening or tomorrow :)

But the idea of "moves" is weird - they said they wanted to make you feel like you were in control of the object using the touchscreen - I figured it was like a balancing game?

He's a master of air hanging, he wills the jumps. So funny some of them.

I'm quite interested in Pure Chess, any impressions?

I don't have it but I think one or two here do - I remember someone mentioning they didn't expect as much slowdown when rotating the camera to look around but might want confirmation on that.

Because I'd love it if it meant I could have two games open simultaneously.

I would love this too..would be super spoilt with that feature. I'd upgrade for sure.

I recently read that the PSPgo could actually do this..load 2 things in memory so it was quick to switch between games? Never had one myself though.

Are these game that use the updated Vita remote play, or standard PSP remote play?
I do see that Ico and GoW are on there which I know use the improved remote play on Vita.

Only Ico, GoW, and Tokyo Jungle (JP) as I understand use the improved remote play. I have not tried the others to see if there is an improvement.

PSN needs a bigger friend list. 100 was alright for PS3 but 100 between two platforms is crap :(

>.>
and here I am thinking that I should remove people from my friends list because it's getting cluttered with 20 lol

Tokyo jungle remote play where are you :(

Top of page: buy P4G and preorder EDF!

I agree tokyo jungle needs remote play since i got my vita
I already bought P4G
won't preorder anything though :P

Hey, another advantage of having a dedicated Vita account!

(I know that its too late for you and others to change now)
