Is there any chance that PS2 games will become available for Vita through PSN? That'd be fucking fantastic.

When bigger memory cards are the norm.

Nope. Vita isnt able to emulate PS2 games. The only chances are hoping/begging for Vita ports of PS2 games (See Persona 4) or PS2 streaming via Gaikai, so no memcard needed.

Edit: Or remote play

Actually remote play from PS3 for PS2 Games seems feasible but im not sure they are ever going to do that

Yes, they have to release MH4 for Vita.

Or at least to announce some other Vita game more.

You are right, remote play would be another option. Still nothing that needs a memcard though ;) I think I'd prefer Gaikai Streaming over Remote play though. I'd prefer not having my PS3 running when playing a ps2 game on my Vita. Besides, my PS3 might die at one point too >_>

Why is a memory card a requirement? PS2 games didn't require them, and the PS3 implemented virtual memory cards for games that used them.

For downloading the game to it. Vita has no internal memory so you need a memcard to play the game (if emulation were possible).

You obviously dont need a Vita memcard for remote play or Gaikai streaming though.

Do you know this as a fact, that it's absolutely impossible?

Because I recall a time when Sony removed BC from PS3s and said it was impossible to emulate PS2 games without the proper hardware, so restoring BC would never happen. Then we got PS2 classics. Not quite the same, since they're packaging the emulator with the classic, but I don't know if that approach would necessarily work with Vita. We can hope. :)

What? Maybe PS2 games didn't require them in a literal sense, but there was no way you were going to start a game without having one. I want to lose all my progress the instant I turn the system off!

This is a bad idea, and if Sony legitimately thinks that is a sound strategy they are insane.

If they want to go head to head with the top dog of a genre, they need adapt EA huge BF3 push and strategy of last year.

Last Year EA put all their money behind BF3 with a freaking huge marketing everywhere, treated BF3 as the biggest and best FPS game of the year, let fps and cod fans to know it's their dream game they went head to head with MW3 and they sold millions, and took a big part of MW/COD fans who are now BF fans.

EA did that amazingly, but can Sony do it? I will say no.

Are we sure Vita is not able to emulate PS2 games?

Dunno but since the emulated PS2 games (that you can buy from the PS store) run badly on freaking PS3, I doubt Vita can run them at all.

Now they could throw EE+GS chip inside Vita revision but since Sony will need to cut the price I don't think that will even happen.

Alright, let me rephrase that. Depending on the game, Vita might theoretically be able to emulate some PS2 games. However, I highly doubt that Sony is going the extra mile of making a "Ps2 classics" line for Vita, adding another process of testing which games actually could be emulated on the platform. And considering the quality of the PS3 emulation, the number of playable titles on Vita would be even smaller, at which point Sony would probably just not even deal with it and try the other alternatives.

Just got novembers update on starlight inception, it has relevant info;

Our lead programmer has been making great progress on features of the game: he’s got us working on PS3, Vita and PC with lots of the same functionality. The fact that we can develop and maintain all three platforms simultaneously has made the creation of tweaking of this game significantly faster.

I know there are a lot of you wondering if Vita is going to be as cool as the other platforms, but I can tell you that the touchscreen functionality coupled with the twin joysticks and the handheld form factor make this a really great experience. The power of this little device amazes us daily and the graphics that we are throwing at it while still maintaining a decent frame rate are astounding.

only ps2 classic I would buy on the vita is odin sphere... here's hoping muramasa is a huge success so that can come to the vita regardless lol

That got me thinking Toma, can Sony give the Vita WiiU gamepad like functions?

What exactly do you mean? But yes, on first thought, I cant think of anything that should be outright impossible (except maybe TV control. I have no clue how that exactly works on the gamepad)

Fair enough.

I could swear some of the emulated ports were better than the PS2 originals. I haven't spent time with it yet, but a friend told me that Odin Sphere got rid of the slowdown that plagued the PS2 version. Another friend bought Shinobi and was happy with the performance (I believe) and didn't find anything to complain about (and he's the action game pro). I don't think he had negatives to say about the emulated God Hand either, but I don't know for sure.

Well Odin Sphere is Atlus IP and Muramasa: The Demon Blade belong to Marvelous AQL, so it don't matter how much Muramasa will sell.

but if you buy P4G maybe Atlus will think about porting it to Vita I guess.

It doesn't matter anyway, because Vita is getting a native Muramasa (sort of a director's cut, I guess?)

aren't they both vanillaware IPs just published by those respective companies?

Also apparently new BOI has online coop :0

when did that change as the FAQ posted in the last 48 hours from ed specifically stated it would be local only as online would take to much extra time?
also potential art styles for the new BOI game

Any date for that AC Liberation patch? I started it already but want to wait for the patch before I properly dive in.

Nope :( The last news was the announcement that they actually work on it.

No, sadly Vanillaware don't own the IPs for most (if not all)of games they made.

ah that's a shame, well I suppose at the very least we will be getting dragon's crown, that would likely be the better one to convince atlus to do something with odin sphere instead of persona 4 :P

either way here's hoping muramasa makes it's way over here and they add a dedicated jump button ><;

Then that would be me misunderstanding. :(

No chance if coop on vita then?
not sure, though I wouldn't be surprised if the vita version got something like local co op between systems. But at this time I would fully expect it to be single player only on the vita so as not to get your hopes up

Is LBP vita a free PS+ game? I just saw Wario tweet that it's selling for lower on Amazon for the next few hours and was wondering whethet to get it or not.

lbp is not a ps+ game at this time but I wouldn't be remotely surprised if it was one in the next 6 months

edit: gah I didn't mean to double post.. sorry ><:

Will still be great and super fun so no worries :)

160,000 Vita sold during Thanksgiving weekend, with AC L being the most popular...that's not bad right? compared to a normal week...my next purchase might be Lumines, even though I have a copy for the PSP and on the 360,I loved the first one...

The challenge mode is gone, but its as great as ever and looks gorgeous. If you havent played Lumines in a while, its def. a great pickup :)

And the 160k is a great number (even 100k each month would be ace), but its only the number Sony said to sell (more or less) since every Vita on sale sold out. So I doubt this month will have any lasting impression, but we'll see.

Finally sitting down with the bundle I got this week, checking out the store. The prices on these games. $36 for Lumines. Really.

You pay the price for digital, friend-o.

But some games are worth having on your card. I fully endorse Lumines as one of those games. Totally worth the $36.
